'LOUD' COMPETITION RULES When LOUD is Never Enough!!! 2017.v1.2 Code of Conduct: All entrants/competitors are expected to enjoy themselves and have fun. Hoon Behaviour and Poor Sportsmanship are strongly discouraged and may result in your disqualification from competition; Head Judge's discretion is Final. Event Types: Car Audio Show Off offers three main types of events: o Test & Tune Event: a casual event where anyone can drop in and measure how loud their car audio system can go or have their system critically judged by one of our CLEAR judges. These events usually last 3-4hrs and are typically held at a car audio store. Printed Certificates will be presented showing your LOUD score and Frequency, or your CLEAR judging scorecard. A CLEAR judge will be available at most Test & Tune events, and it is highly advised to take advantage of obtaining a CLEAR judges feedback. o Store Event: a more formalised event where full LOUD and CLEAR judging will be done. Entrants are encouraged to compete in both LOUD & CLEAR formats for the chance to be crowned the ULTIMATE SHOW OFF - Trophies, prizes and give-aways are typically awarded. o Major Event: similar in competition format to Store Events, but held in conjunction with Major National Motoring Shows. Eg. Jamboree, Summernats, Meguiar's MotorEx, Top Gear Festival etc. Due to Host restrictions, competitor numbers may be limited forcing it to be an 'Invitation Only' or Pre-Qualification event. If rear battery banks are used, appropriate fusing should be installed within 40cm of both the main vehicle battery and the rear battery bank for all (+) wiring runs. All charging runs that pass through the firewall must be fused between the alternator and the firewall All amplifiers should have individual fusing. This can be through built-in fuse banks in the amplifier, or external fuse blocks within 60cm of each amplifier. Fire Extinguishers (RECOMMENDED): o A suitable fire extinguisher (Dry Chemical Powder, Australian Standards AS/NZS1841.5 Approved) should be securely mounted anywhere within the vehicle that is easily accessible in the event of an emergency. This fire extinguisher must be in service and charged (as shown by the indicator) All vehicle glass must remain OEM specification Team Member Assistance: o Team Members may support the panels of the vehicle during LOUD testing, but must keep both feet on the ground at all times Equipment/System Design: There are NO limitations to the quantity or size of equipment used in ANY class, provided that all other class rules are complied with o Example: a DAILY CLASS system could consist of a 10,000w RMS amplifier running 4x 12 Subwoofers... however the system will need to run off a single battery in the stock location, and all equipment must fit in the boot Each class has their own rules for the installation location/method for all equipment. Please refer to the class listings below to confirm your relevant class. Presentation: No raw Timber/MDF will be allowed at Store Events or Major Events. This rule applies to all exposed areas: subwoofer enclosures, door panels, centre consoles, etc. o All Timber/MDF must at least have a coat of paint, although carpet, vinyl, leather and other materials are encouraged (get creative you WILL score more install points) Vehicles with raw Timber/MDF can participate in Test & Tune Events

Scoring Method: Scoring will be a combination of your LOUD score combined with your SAFETY & PRESENTATION scorecard o LOUD Measurement Method: All measurements of 80Hz and under will be made over a 30 second period using the TermLab SPL equipment. The microphone will be placed on the passenger's side windscreen, located 30cm in from the A-Pillar and 10cm up from the dashboard Vehicles may have ANY or ALL doors and windows open or closed during the measurement period, but no changes to the chosen setup may be made during the 30 second run. Vehicles may have the engine running, but must stay below 2,000RPM Vehicles unable to attain a minimum SPL reading of 120.0dB will NOT receive any points towards their LOUD score. o SAFETY & PRESENTATION Scorecard (10pts): All vehicles will be judged on the safety of their installation, as well as the presentation of the vehicle (washed exterior, and cleaned interior) Please refer to the 'SAFETY & PRESENTATION Scorecard for full details o Tied Scores: In the event of a Tied Score the winner will be determined by the frequency of their LOUD score, the lower frequency Wins! Example: o Competitor A scores 139.9dB @ 65Hz and Competitor B scores 139.9dB at 43Hz therefore the Winner is Competitor B
