Record the receipt of the kit(s) into the dealership s perpetual inventory, either under the kit number or under the individual part numbers of the pieces in the kit. 2. Using adjusted standard costing, record the following invoice information: Enter the dealer net price of the kit or individual pieces into Account #261 (Accys Inventory). Enter the discount amount from the dealer net into Account #697 (Stock Order Discount). Enter the dealer net of the kit or individual pieces into Account #300 (Accounts Payable, Honda). 3. When a kit or an individual piece from a kit is sold on a repair order or counter ticket, cost out the sale at dealer net. The Parts department has already recognized a profit using adjusted standard costing on the Honda invoice. It is up to dealership management to determine what markup to use when determining the sale price of kits to the New Vehicle or Service department. It is a good idea for parts managers to meet with dealership management to explain kit pricing. Pre-installing these kits can be an excellent way to increase profits on new and used vehicle sales.
