In general, Siemens arresters are used to protect high-voltage equipment in substations, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and bushings, for example. However, apart from the area of standard applications, Siemens offers the 3EP6 surge arresters for any application up to 550 including special applications such as high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems or all kinds of compensation systems for electric power networks. Furthermore, Siemens surge arresters have been designed to meet the requirements of a wide range of common installation environments, from arctic cold to the heat of the desert and the dampness of tropical climates.
