Industrial know-how The activities of the LOHR group are entirely integrated, from product design to commercialisation. Mainly consisting of an Engineering Department that includes over 100 persons, a Design Department, a Test Centre and 4 Sales Head Offices, the LOHR group favours an integrated approach for its activities - from project studies and design to implementation - a token of the consistency and excellence of the transport systems it implements. This integrated approach relies on the will to master the industrial process in a top-down fashion, to constantly test the product efficiency and to be responsive to client requests as well as technological advances. A strategy mainly designed so as not to yield to delocalisation. Lohr owns high-technology workshops which enable the company to manufacture products having a very high- quality level. Lohr stands out as a specialist in the field of general mechanical engineering, metalwork, bodyworks and trims, climatic engineering, running gears for railway and roadway vehicles, electric propulsion and electronic equipment (development of motor, traction and auxiliary equipment inverters), tires and hydraulics. Lohr has the capacity to produce equally well medium- sized and small-sized series.
Public transport Increase the urban mobility through an economical, ecological, and modern mean of transport. Lohr has developed Translohr, the new generation of tramways. 6 cities have chosen Translohr: 3 are under commercial operation: Clermont- Ferrand in France, Padua in Italy and Tianjin in China. 1 is under works: Mestre Venice (forecasted for 2009). 2 recent contracts have been signed: RATP for its first tramway on tires line (St Denis in the north part of Paris) and Shanghai in China. Besides, two contracts are in the finalization stage: Châtillon-Viroflay (south of Paris) with the RATP, Latina (Italy, north of Rome).
Translohr - Clermont-Ferrand France The city of Clermont-Ferrand has chosen Translohr for its new tramway network. Line 1, with 14 km, crosses the city from north to south. 20 Translohr STE4 are in commercial operation since November 2006, and carry more than 57 000 passengers per day. Six additional TRANSLOHR have been recently ordered, due to the high success of the system.
Translohr - Padua Italy In Padova, the first line, 10.3 km long, is the backbone of a future network consisting of 3 lines of tramways. Thanks to is onboard traction pack, crossing of the Prato Della Valle, the central square of the city, is made possible without catenary (photo). The first line is in commercial operation since March 2007.
Translohr - Teda China The new city of TEDA (Tianjin Economic Development Area, town of Tianjin) has selected Translohr for its 9 km first line, initiating a future network of 70 km. In commercial operation since May 2007.
Porte-véhicules Translohr - Venice - Maxilohr - Mestre Italy Translohr has been selected by Mestre-Venice to serve the city on the continent and connect it to the magic city. 20 km line, with 20 Translohr STE4, 32 meters long. Beginning of operation is planned to take place during the first quarter of 2010.
Translohr - Shanghai China Shanghai, the second city in PR of China, has adopted Translohr. The contract was signed in December 2007 for a supply of 9 STE3 tramways. The line will be officially open at the end of 2009.
Translohr - RATP - Paris north France RATP has chosen Translohr for its first line of trams on tires in the Paris area. 15 Translohr STE3 (25 m long) will travel by 2011 on a 6,6 km lane.
Translohr - Châtillon-Viroflay France The contract concerning a future line of tramway connecting Châtillon to Viroflay is in its finalization stage with the RATP. The operation of the line equipped with about thirty Translohr STE6 vehicles will start in 2012.
Translohr - Latina Italy Studies of the environmental impact of the tramway line, currently being carried out by the Lazio region, still need to confirm the choice of the Translohr as the future tramway line for the city of Latina.
STE 3 Translohr - the other tramway Tramway on tires The tire axle, in replacement of the traditional steel bogie, offers important benefits: Silence of operation (no steel-steel contact). High insertion performance: short turning radius (10,5 m at the rail), gradient ability (13%), and small dynamic gauge (5,40 m). High braking efficiency (disc brakes & ABS installed on all wheels). Cost effective infra structures, easy to implement thanks to a reduced axle load. A genuine tramway Translohr offers all the characteristics of a modern tramway: Full and permanent guiding by rail, allowing tram architecture and rail accreditations. Large transportation capacity: complete range from 25 to 46 meter long, consisting of 3 to 6 interconnected passenger modules, and a capacity up to 345 persons, at 6 p/m². Reversibility: 2 driver cabins at both ends. Accessibility: integral low floor (25 cm above road level). In option, battery pack on roof, to ensure electric autonomy for a certain distance. ) 13 % STE 4 Railway-type tramway R. 20 m. Translohr R. 10,50 m. STE 5 STE 6
Translohr - the other tramway A cost effective tramway Reduced infra structure costs: Translohr roadway is easy and quick to implement, with a platform thickness of only 24 to 30 cm (70 to 100 cm for a traditional tramway). Reduced ground occupancy (dynamic gauge almost 20% less than traditional tramway). Reduced depot land area, (half of traditional tramway). Due to the characteristics of Translohr, the underground utilities might not be relocated. A safe guiding system The totally safe Translohr guiding system, mounted on all axles, is mechanically locked with the rail, and thus guarantees the precision of the trajectory, the perfect docking at the stations, without any effort nor wear on the rail. The tires support all vertical & lateral loads. The guiding wheels are covered with a composite ring to avoid any steel - steel contact. These 2 factors ensure silence & «no vibration», without rail wear or tear.
Airval, Cityval - Automatic people mover Public transport New people mover generation Siemens Transportation Systems (STS) and Lohr Industrie have entered into a partnership to develop NEOVAL, the new light-rail, automatic, on tyres, driverless modular people mover, the new VAL generation. The new system is characterized by the use of tyres and braking functions from the road technology, with the same Translohr guiding system, and the central rail. The market concerns airport shuttles and automatic light- rail people mover networks, on a worldwide scale. Airval Cityval
Cristal - New Urban mobility Public transport Cristal is a new concept of vehicle. Compact, electric, noiseless, for 6 persons, able to be manual and individually driven, or collectively operated. Cristal is the new mean of individual or semi collective transport, in complement with the urban existing transport means. mode libre-service mode convoi
Lorry-Rail
Rail-road The saturation of the road communication routes and the inevitable traffic cloggings led Lohr to be interested in developing new transport alternatives and designing a new product, MODALOHR. A combined rail-road wagon. This low-floor articulated railway wagon, allows the quick, safe and economical transhipment of standard semi- trailers from the road to the rail. The system is adapted to the existing railway infrastructures and without constraint for the users. A first railway line has been under commercial operation since 2003 between France and Italy. A second line was inaugurated in March 2007 between France (Spanish border) and Luxembourg. Many other projects are under study in all Europe with the objective to connect them, and offer a full European rail-road multimodal network, allowing the traffic of 38 ton semi-trailers.
