303-03-1 Engine Cooling 303-03-1 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Radiator, Cooling Fan and Shroud Special Tool(s) Wrench, Fan Clutch Nut 303-240 (T84T-6312-D) Holding Wrench, Fan Pulley 303-239 (T84T-6312-C) Disconnect Tool, Transmission Cooler Line 307-441 Removal 1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-00. 2. If servicing the radiator lower fan shroud or the radiator, drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section. 3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations and tables. 303-03-4 Engine Cooling 303-03-4 Item 10: A/C Tube 1. On 4.6L engines, detach the A/C tube from the retainers. Item 11: Transmission Cooler and A/C Tubes 1. Disconnect the transmission cooler tubes. Remove the safety retainers from the transmission cooler tubes. Using the special tool, disconnect the quick coupler. If equipped, loosen and remove the screw clamp from the hose. Item 12: Radiator Fan Shroud Screw Removal Note 1. Not all vehicles will have these radiator fan shroud screws. If vehicle is equipped with these screws, please discard them. Item 15: Cooling Fan 1. CAUTION: Cardboard must be placed against the radiator when removing the cooling fan. Failure to follow these procedures can result in damage to the vehicle. Place a piece of cardboard against the radiator to prevent damage while removing the cooling fan. 2. Using the special tools, remove the fan blade and the clutch assembly. 2. Remove the A/C tube brackets from the engine front cover. Item 17: Radiator Lower Fan Shroud Removal Note 1. Remove the power steering tube from the clip on the radiator lower fan shroud.

303-03-5 Engine Cooling 303-03-5 Item 19: Radiator Bracket Bolt 3. Remove the right inner air deflector from the A/C condenser. 1. If necessary, remove the radiator brackets. Item 21: A/C Condenser Support Bracket Bolt 1. If necessary, remove the condenser brackets. Item 22: Radiator 1. NOTE: It will be necessary to lift the radiator assembly up off the mounts and set it on the frame in order to separate the A/C condenser from the radiator. NOTE: RH side shown, LH side similar. Remove the radiator up off the mounts and set it on the frame. 4. CAUTION: Do not allow the A/C condenser to hang freely or damage to the A/C lines could occur. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar. Using mechanics wire, support both sides of the A/C condenser. 2. Remove the left inner air deflector from the A/C condenser.

303-03-6 Engine Cooling 303-03-6 5. NOTE: It is not necessary to evacuate the A/C 8. Disconnect the hose. system. The A/C condenser can remain in the vehicle. NOTE: It will be necessary to lift the A/C condenser up off the lower support. Move the A/C condenser toward the front of the vehicle. Remove the radiator and transmission cooler as an assembly and place it on a bench. 9. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar. Remove the four bolts and the bracket. 6. Remove the bolts and the transmission cooler. Item 22: Radiator 1. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar. Position the bracket and install the four bolts. 7. Remove the splash shield pin-type retainers.

303-03-7 Engine Cooling 303-03-7 2. Connect the hose. 3. Install the splash shield pin-type retainers. 6. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar. Remove the mechanics wire from the A/C condenser and position the condenser onto the lower mounts. 4. Install the transmission cooler and bolts. 7. Install the right inner A/C air deflector shield. 5. Set the radiator assembly on the frame.

303-03-8 Engine Cooling 303-03-8 8. Install the left inner A/C air deflector shield. Item 11: Transmission Cooler and A/C Tube 1. Install the A/C tube brackets to the engine front cover. Item 21: A/C Condenser Support Bracket 1. If necessary, install the condenser brackets. 2. Connect the transmission cooler tubes. Item 19: Radiator Bracket If equipped, install and tighten the screw 1. If necessary, install the radiator brackets. clamp from the hose. Item 17: Radiator Lower Fan Shroud Installation Note 1. Install the power steering tube to the clip on the radiator lower fan shroud. Item 15: Cooling Fan 1. CAUTION: Cardboard must be placed against the radiator when installing the cooling fan. Failure to follow these procedures can result in damage to the vehicle. Place a piece of cardboard against the radiator to prevent damage while installing the cooling fan. 2. Using the special tools, install the fan blade and the clutch assembly. Using the special tool, connect the quick coupler. Install the safety retainers from the transmission cooler tubes.

303-03-9 Engine Cooling 303-03-9 Item 10: A/C Tube 1. On 4.6L engines, attach the A/C tube to the retainers. Item 9: Lower Degas Bottle Hose Installation Note 1. Secure the lower degas bottle hose in the clip on the lower cooling fan shroud.
