The Gecko should not be used without first consulting a physician. Failure to consult a qualified physician prior to use could lead to severe medical problems. We recommend that a good standing program be established and supervised by a qualified registered physical therapist. Never leave child unattended in unit. The Gecko is designed for indoor use only. The Gecko should not be used on ramps or uneven surfaces. Metal parts may become hot if the Gecko is left in the sun. Do not use the Gecko if any part is missing or found defective. Contact your healthcare professional or Snug Seat at 800-336-7684 for assistance. Keep away from hazards such as ranges, fireplaces, radiators, stairs, escalators, or thresholds. The Gecko must be checked for safe operating conditions before each use. Adjustments not described in this manual must only be made by authorized Snug Seat personnel. Basic Unit (Fig. 1 & Fig.2) 3. 4. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Insert center spar bar (A) into Gecko frame (B) from bottom of unit. Place Gecko hip/sacral support (C) onto center spar bar (A). ADJUSTING BASIC GECKO COMPONENTS Locking the Hip/Sacral Pad Assembly Opening the Gate (Fig. 3): 3. Pull the safety pin (F). Lift the gate latch (G). Swing the gate open (H). Hip/Sacral Pad Assembly - Width Adjustment Adjusting the lateral width (Fig. 6) 3. ADJUSTING BASIC GECKO COMPONENTS - Continued Loosen the four button head screws (I) with included hex wrench. Adjust (slide) the laterals to desired width and offset indicated by arrow in Fig. 6. Tighten the four button head screws (I). The Gecko Tray (Fig. 9, 10, 11) Installation: GECKO ACCESSORIES The Gecko tray can be mounted on either the Center Spar Bar (Fig. 9) or on the small Tray Spar Bar (Fig. 10). Warning: Do not allow any portion of the center spar bar to extend above the highest Gecko pad. 7
Trunk Pad (Fig. 12 & 13) Installation: GECKO ACCESSORIES - Continued Install trunk pad onto the center spar bar at desired height (Fig 12). Tighten trunk pad adjustment knob (O) (Fig. 13). Warning: Do not allow any portion of the center spar bar to extend above the highest Gecko pad. Tray Mount Thorax Pad (Fig. 14 & 15) This part provides extra comfort when the tray is mounted on the center spar bar. Note: With this pad installed, the tray cannot be mounted on the tray spar bar. Installation: Install the pad from the underside. Tighten the mounting bracket and screws (P) moderately to hold the pad in place. P Fig. 14 Fig. 15 8
GECKO ACCESSORIES - Continued Headrest Mount (Fig. 16 & 17) Allows installation of a headrest (purchased separately). Installation: 3. Install headrest mount clamp (Q) onto Gecko gate just to the left of the sacral pad. Install the headrest on the headrest mounting tube (R). Tighten the two vertical adjustment screws (S) to position and secure the headrest. Note: The Gecko Headrest Mount will position the headrest with approximately 1 of lateral offset. The headrest selected must be able to compensate for this shift. All Snug Seat Turtle bar headrests are compatable. R Q Fig. 16 S S Fig. 17 9
GECKO ACCESSORIES - Continued Thorax Pad (Fig. 18 & 19) Mounts on center spar to provide anterior support where lateral support is not required. Installation: Slide Thorax Pad (T) onto the Center Spar Bar (U). Position the pad as needed and tighten adjustment knob (V) to secure. Warning: Do not allow any portion of the center spar bar to extend above the highest Gecko pad. V U T Fig. 18 Fig. 19 CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS Wipe the Gecko with a damp cloth to clean. Use mild detergent if necessary but avoid harsh cleaners as they may damage the Gecko s surface. To avoid corrosion, do not soak or immerse the Gecko metal parts in liquid of any kind. 10
