McCormick T-MAX technological evolution
The T-MAX is offered in four model ranges: 90, 100, 110 and 115. Each model is equipped with a turbo-charged 4.4 liter Perkins diesel powerplant. The 100, 110 and 115 models are equipped with a turbo aftercooler and all three models comply with the latest Tier 3 emissions standards. The T-MAX Series is available in both and ROPS configurations in either 2 or 4 wheel drive. The T-MAX offers multiple configurations based on proven performance and reliability. The transmission is available in either a mechanical (synchro) or hydraulic (power) shuttle configuration. Both versions are equipped with four synchronized gears within three mechanically operated ranges. Creeper gearing can be provided as a factory installed option on either shuttle version. With creeper installed on the mechanical shuttle version, transmission configurations of 16F+16R (19 mph), and 32F+16R (25 mph) are achieved. With the creeper installed on the hydraulic shuttle version, gear selections of 16F+16R (22 mph) and 48F+16R (25 mph) are achieved. An electronically-controlled de-clutch system is incorporated into the design of the hydraulic power shuttle version. By simply pressing the orange button on the gear shift lever, the operator is able to shift the transmission s mechanical gears without using the clutch pedal. T-MAX is designed with versatility in mind. The T-MAX is available with a cab or ROPS version. Power Take Off is engaged via purshbutton which energizes the electro-hydraulic system. PTO speeds of 540/1000 rpm are provided as the standard feature on all transmission configurations. The PTO system can operate independently of the transmission and is composed of oil-bathed multi-discs to ensure longevity and smooth operation. T-MAX tractors can be equipped with either a mechanically controlled, or electronically controlled three point lift system which is determined by the transmission option ordered. The draft control function, with either configuration, is sensed at the lower links.
McCormick T-MAX, a winning combination
ENGINES FIG 1 The T-MAX series of tractors are powered by a new range of environmentally friendly Perkins engines designed specifically for agricultural use. Incorporating the latest technological advances concerning Tier 3 compliancy, these engines provide more efficient combustion, higher power outputs and higher torque reserves than previous designs. With innovations in the mixture of fuel and air, lower running costs are achieved while maintaining respect for the environment. These new 1104D Perkins engines provide the T-MAX series with the following power ratings: 83 HP (T-MAX 90 turbo-charged), 92.5 HP (T-MAX 100 turbo-charged with aftercooler) and 102 HP (T-MAX 110 turbo-charged with aftercooler). Routing service and maintenance is simplified by lifting the hood (shown in Fig. 1) which allows easy access to the engine compartment. AXLE Optimum ground clearance (18.7) with exceptional maneuverability is achieved with a 55 degree steering angle. Unsurpassed traction and overall safe operation is ensured by integrating the electro-hydraulically controlled four-wheel drive system with true four wheel braking (refer to Fig. 2). FIG 2 FRONT LIFT AND FRONT PTO Available as a factory installed option, the category 2 front lift is capable of lifting 3968 lbs. The 1000 rpm PTO is electro-hydraulically engaged by means of a simple push button. This design has been specifically engineered for this new range to enhance the performance and versatility that today s markets require. FIG 3 FIG 4 TRANSMISSION The Power Shuttle (hydraulic) version features 4 speeds in 3 ranges (controlled by the green push buttons integrated into the gearshift lever). The De- Clutch Control is the orange button also integrated into the gearshift lever (Fig. 3). When combined with the 3 Powershift H-M-L ranges under load and the power shuttle (Fig. 4), 36F+12R speeds are provided. A factory installed creeper extends the flexibility to 48F+16R speeds. When used in conjunction with the Reverse Power Shuttle, the operator is not only allowed to change gears, but to also change directions without using the clutch pedal. Being able to change directions under load, without having to engage and disengage the tractor s clutch, increases productivity. This feature is particularly noticeable when using front mounted implements such as a front-end-loader.
THREE POINT HITCH The three point hitch is intuitively controlled by levers located on the right-hand console of the tractor (Fig. 5-1). This ergonomically designed layout offers maximum comfort and fingertip control of implements during operation. The three point hitch is controlled either mechanically (mechanical shuttle version) or electronically (hydraulic shuttle version) and features draft control via lower link sensing. The Cat 2 three point linkage (Fig. 6) provides a lifting capacity of 9570 lbs. PTO (Power Take Off) The 1 3/8 PTO shaft provides speeds of 540 or 1000 rpm. The wet disc clutch, operated by push button (Fig. 7-1) engages smoothly and progressively to ensure operator comfort as well as ensuring long life operation of the PTO driveline. Available as a factory installed option, a ground-speed PTO feature can be installed. This option is used in many spraying and seeding applications and thus increases the versatility of the T-MAX. HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT FIG 5 FIG 6 FIG 5-1 A new hydraulic circuit provides a maximum flow of 21 gpm. This system features up to 4 auxiliary spool valves. Multiple configurations are available including float, standard, detented, or hydraulic motor with flow diverter. Two remotes are controlled by the levers located to the right of the operator (Fig. 7-2). The other two remotes are controlled via joystick. The T-MAX range provides the versatility previously found only in speciality tractors. An operator of a TMAX tractor has the ability to work with a variety of farm implements thus increasing overall productivity and capability. FIG 7 FIG 7-2 FIG 7-1 Perhaps the most noticeable feature of the T-MAX Series Cab is the all-round visibility provided by all glass doors hinged at the cab s rear post. This total view is accentuated by the use of composite materials creating a stylish interior arranged in a familiar automotive design (Fig. 8). Having the tractor controls conveniently located ensures that at the end of the day, the operator can appreciate the comfort levels delivered by McCormick s Engineers. This comfort level is extended not only by the use of an air purification system, which filters the cab s interior with two filters, but also with an air-conditioning system integrated into the roof of the cab. The cab roof also sports a fixed glazed hatch with sunshade. This is particularly useful when operating frontend-loading equipment. Natural ventilation can be acquired by opening the front and rear windshields. Providing great visibility for after-hours operation, four roof mounted lights help turn long days into less of a chore - something owners and operators can appreciate. FIG 8
