Manufacturer of Class I & II heat exchanger with welded end covers (Types SPS072 & SPS 179 IS) shall have valid AOM certificate (See DNV GL Rules Pt.4 Ch.7 Sec.7 clause 1.1.1). The gasket material shall fulfil the requirements in SIS Haandbog 149 for the media in question. The plate material shall fulfil the requirement in Corrosion table published by Jernkontoret 1979 or similar corrosion standards. SW59-IS, SW26-IS and SW40a-IS have a minimum working temperature of -40ºC with head and follower material S355NL. These 3 types are also approved for ammonia as operating media. SPS 072 IS minimum and maximum design temperatures are respectively -2.5 C / 110 C. SPS 179 IS minimum and maximum design temperatures are respectively --10 C / 250 C Steel components in direct contact with seawater shall be protected against corrosion. Traditional stainless steels, grades 304, 304L, 316 & 316L, shall not be considered seawater resistant. The hydraulic pressure test is to include a differential pressure test between the chambers; each chamber is to be pressure tested.
