The candidate can demonstrate the accurate use of spelling, punctuation and grammar. Pneumatic control systems are widely used in the industrial sectors for the driving of automatic machines. Very effective and little mess, many factories have equipped their production lines with compressed air supplies and movable compressors. It is difficult to transmit and transport fluid in the same way. Level 2 (3 4 marks) Adequate discussion showing an understanding of the advantages of using pneumatics rather than hydraulics. There will be some use of specialist terms, although these may not always be used appropriately. The information will be presented for the most part in a structured format. There may be occasional errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar. Level 1 (1 2 marks) Basic discussion showing limited understanding of the advantages of pneumatics rather than hydraulics. There will be little or no use of specialist terms. Answers may be ambiguous or disorganised. Errors of spelling, punctuation and grammar may be intrusive. 0 = a response that is irrelevant and/or not worthy of a mark. Annotate with Seen at end of response. 6 There is an unlimited supply of air to produce compressed air. The use of compressed air is not restricted by distance, as it can easily be transported through pipes and does cause big problems if a small amount of air escapes in the system. After use, compressed air can be released directly into the atmosphere without the need of processing and does not cause environmental issues. Pneumatic components are durable and are not easily damaged when compared to electromotive hydraulic components; pneumatic components are reliable and usually lighter Simple design, the designs of pneumatic components are relatively simple.
