Quark Brushless Systems Instructin Manual fr Quark 22A/33A Universal Versin 2 Speed cntrller needs t be cmpletely checked after a mdel crash. Never use a damaged ESC. The heat sink n the ESC must be used fr maximum cling and perfrmance Never allw separate heat sinks t tuch each ther r any expsed cnductive surface. This may cause a shrt circuit, damage ESC, and VOID WARRANTY. Precautins: WARNING! High-pwered brushless systems can be very dangerus as high currents can heat and/r melt wires and batteries, causing fire, prperty damage, and serius bdily injury (including death). Fllw the Instructin Manual carefully. Only perate in a sanctined area. Quark ESC is equipped with a safety-arming feature, but users shuld still use cautin when cnnecting the battery. The Quark Electrnic Speed Cntrller cmplies with FCC and CE regulatins. CE apprval is yur guarantee the unit meets all the relevant interference emissin and rejectin regulatins when in peratin. The battery wires must be cnnected with crrect plarity. Quark ESC may be damaged if the plarity is incrrect and it will VOID the WARRANTY. Quark Electrnic Speed Cntrllers (ESC) are designed fr peratin exclusively with R/C batteries. DO NOT use ESCs in cnjunctin with a pwer supply. Energy reversal may ccur which can damage/destry the pwer supply and/r ESC and will VOID WARRANTY. When Mtr and Battery are cnnected t the ESC, handle the R/C with extreme care! Keep clear f mving/rtating parts when the battery pack is cnnected. D nt exceed the specified vltages as it may cause an verlad, damage the ESC, and VOID WARRANTY. D nt use Schttky Dides r Cndensers with Brushless Mtrs. Ni-MH and Ni-CD may be used in place f each ther, but never in place f Li-Ply Exercise Cautin during and after use as the mtr, battery, cntrller and all cnnecting wires may becme ht. Cntact with yur skin may cause a burn r serius bdily injury. The pwer ON/OFF switch n the Quark ESC des nt discnnect the battery frm the ESC. A lw residual current flws even if the Pwer switch is OFF and can cause deep under lading, especially with Li-Ply Cells. Cnnect the battery t the ESC shrtly befre peratin and discnnect shrtly after use. Never discnnect the battery pack while the mtr is running, as this culd cause damage n the speed cntrller and/r mtr. Safeguard the Quark frm excessive mechanical lads, vibratin, dirt, r misture. Shuld the ESC becme wet, nly reuse after air-drying fr an extended perid. If malfunctin ensues, it may be sent t manufacturer fr repair. Allwing water, lubricants, misture r ther freign materials inside the ESC will VOID WARRANTY. Expsure t CA glue r its fumes can cause the ESC damage and it may malfunctin; this will VOID WARRANTY. 1.0 Installatin f Quark Cntrller Mtr wires can be cnnected t the Quark ESC in any rder. If the mtr rtates in the ppsite directin, swap any tw f the three mtr wires t reverse the mtr rtatin. Please cnnect the Serv Plug t the prper channel f the receiver. Use high quality cnnectrs fr Battery and Mtr wires. Cnnectrs with lw cnductivity may cause erratic mtr rtatins r ther unexpected mvements. Fr the battery, use cnnectrs that cannt be plugged in backwards t prevent incrrect plarizatin. Cmply with the allwed vltage capacity f the cnnectrs. When pssible, direct sldering is recmmended fr best cnductivity. D nt munt the Mtr in the R/C befre all wires are prperly sldered and/r cnnected. Munt the Mtr nly after everything has been cnnected and is wrking prperly. When cnnecting the Quark t the battery pack, ensure that multiple tuches f the cnnectrs are nt made. Check the mtr manufacturer s instructin manual fr screw munting length. Munting lnger screws can damage mtr and/r shrt-circuit the ESC and/r mtr and VOID WARRANTY. Wires cnnecting the ESC t the mtr and the battery shuld be kept as shrt as pssible, preferably less than 20 cm. 2.0 Initial Setup Reset all the functins f the thrttle channels f the transmitter. The Fail Safe systems f PCM transmitters/receivers must be turned ff. Duble check the plarity f the battery wires. Warning!! The mtr shuld nt be cnnected t mving parts during prgramming because the vehicle may mve and may result in prperty damage and/r persnal injury. The default battery settings are Li-Ply Nrmal. When using a Ni-MH r Ni-Cd battery, please change the settings t prevent damage t the battery. 1
