ACCOMMODATION Students have a possibility to live in Šiauliai University students dormitory. The address is Dubijos st. 1 b., Šiauliai, Lithuania. All rooms are double two students share a double room. Two rooms share a toilet and a sink. In the room You will find: a closet, a bed, a desk, a chair, a reading lamp, blankets, linen and towels, dishware and cooking utensils. Each floor has a common shower and a kitchen with a stove, a sink, an oven, and a fridge. Accommodation Fees The price 70 EUR per month per person in double room. Single room - 116 EUR. Room is reserved automatically when we receive Students Application form for studies. Students can come to the dormitory one week before the beginning of studies (last week of August or January). Students can get Internet access in the room. The price is around 30 Euros per semester.
PLANNING YOUR ARRIVAL Arrival dates Please arrange your arrival and come to Šiauliai till the beginning of a semester. Currency - Euro Please don't forget your EU insurance card. If you don't have it you can purchase one upon arrival. We highly recommend having health Insurance that would be valid in Lithuania!
COMING TO LITHUANIA You can reach Lithuania by air, ferry, train or bus, depending on where you are coming from. Travelling by plane. There are international airports in Vilnius and Kaunas. Or Riga (Latvia). Travelling by train. You can enter the country on international routes from Moscow, Minsk, Mahilyow, Warsaw and Saint Petersburg. Trains also run from Königsberg through Lithuania to some cities in Russia and Ukraine. Travelling by bus is slow but comfortable. You can travel to Lithuania by bus from almost any European country. Travelling by ferry. Sea ferries on six routes connect the largest seaport of Lithuania, Klaipeda, to ports in Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Poland (www.dfdsseaways.lt, www.scandlines.lt). How to get to Students dormitory, Dubijos st. 1 b., Šiauliai, FROM? Riga International Airport Distance from Šiauliai to Riga (capital of Latvia) - 128 km; BUS - You can use public transport: Bus No.22, which has direct services between the airport and the city centre. To get on the bus at the airport look for bus stop located opposite the terminal behind the car park. Frequency 10-30 minutes, journey time about 30 minutes. Fare 1.20 Eur (to the bus driver). Additional information on bus lines and schedules at www.rigassatiksme.lv MINIBUSES - You can also travel from the airport to the city centre by Airport Express minibuses provided by airbaltic. The price for a ride is 4.99 Eur. Payments are accepted in cash or by a payment card. For more information please visit www.airbaltic.lv TAXI - The city from the airport can be reached using Rīgas taksometru parks, Rīgas taxi and "Baltic Taxi" cabs. Journey time to the centre of the city is approximately 15 minutes. The price for a ride is around 14 Eur. Vilnius International Airport Distance from Siauliai to Vilnius (Capital of Lithuania) is 214 km; The most convenient way to get from Vilnius Airport to Vilnius railway station is to take a train. The web-page of Lietuvos geležinkeliai : http://www.litrail.lt/wps/portal. Go: Rout search - Departure station: Oro uostas. Arrival station: Vilnius. The price for the ticket is 0,72 Eur. Tickets are sold in the train. Vilnius railway station http://www.litrail.lt/wps/portal and Vilnius bus station is in front of each other. Bus station is in opposite side of street. The price of bus and train ticket to Šiauliai is around 13 Eur. Kaunas International Airport http://www.kaunasair.lt Distance from Kaunas to Siauliai is 156 km Kaunas Airport is situated in Karmėlava, only 14 km away from Kaunas. There are direct flights to Kaunas from London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Dublin, Alicante, Frankfurt and Riga, etc and many possibilities to transfer flying from other country. You can reach Kaunas Bus or Train Station easily: By bus. The bus stop is at the arrivals hall. A city bus line No. 29 serves the airport going on the route Kaunas Airport (Karmėlava) - Savanorių Av. - Bus station - Train station from approx. 5 till 22:30. You may buy your ticket from the driver for 1 Eur and after ~45 min. get off at the Railway station (Geležinkelio stotis). Take a train or bus to reach Siauliai. Kaunas bus station is very close to Railway station. Address is Vytauto pr. 24, Kaunas.
