Seal design Behavior under extreme combed loads The sphere-to-cone seal geometry (toroidal surface on the p, tapered surface on the box) achieves the parabolic seal contact pressure profile This provides lower contact pressure peaks (mimizg gallg risks durg make-up) but higher average contact pressure combation with longer seal contact length When combed, these two characteristics provide a more stable sealg performance even under extreme combed loads This presents % PIPY gas-tightness and % API collapse pressure (or % PEPY gas-tightness) As achieved the thread design, and combation with taper and pitch parameters, seal configuration was optimized to ensure the best sealg performance while preservg seal tegrity Safer make-up The ma seal contact pot set apart from p end provides seal protection while runng and less sensitivity of the sealg capacity to axial displacement that could be reached under extreme loads Deep stabbg reduces slidg distance and risk of gallg Dope pocket When used with dope, the Dope pocket volume allows excessive dope to be lodged, thus mimizg both thread tegrity (p) risk and weaker sealg performance due to dope entrapment The cyldrical crests of the box thread close to the dope pocket allow the surplus dope to flow from the threads to the dope pocket BOX Dope pocket Tangent pot (Sealg pot) p RADIUS 6
