Priva B.V. Safety Safety - general Only Priva approved installers/service engineers who have received product-specific training from Priva are allowed to install, configure, repair and, if necessary, alter the equipment Making alterations to the safeguards and safety icons on the equipment is prohibited. Both the installer/service engineer and the user must check and maintain the equipment (the safeguards in particular) in accordance with the instructions in this manual. Keep the product clean and the surroundings tidy. Report faults or damage to Priva immediately. Inactivate the equipment and do not use it if a deficiency is observed. Only use original spare parts for repairs (refer to the price list). After repairing the unit, check the correct status and functioning of it. If the user allows personnel to operate the equipment, he must provide sufficient instruction. In particular, this should be on the safety risks and safety instructions as stated in this manual. He must also supervise correct compliance with the instructions. Ensure that the personal protective equipment prescribed in this manual is available and that it is used. Display the safety icons that are applicable in the room where the equipment is set up. Electrical safety The unit is powered from the mains voltage. There is a potential hazard of electrocution or fire resulting from a short circuit. Therefore, comply with the following safety instructions: Keep the housings of electrical components (cabinet, pump etc.) closed. Keep the electrical parts dry. Ensure that the grounding is correctly connected. Ensure that the unit is connected to its own fuse group with the correct fuses/circuit breakers. During installation or maintenance, or while resolving malfunctions it may be necessary to open the housing of the electrical components. If the unit cannot be made free of electricity, then take extreme care. Use well-insulated tools and do not touch wire ends, connections and electrical components with bare hands. Keep the surroundings dry and ensure that there is someone close by to keep an eye on you. Wear a grounded wristband while working in the cabinet. Static electricity can damage the electronic components. Residual risks The following risks could not be excluded in the design: If the unit is altered or is used in such a way that it becomes contrary to the instructions in this manual, unforeseen risks may occur. 8 FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2

Installation Only Priva approved installers are allowed to install and configure the product. Troubleshooting In case of problems, in most cases a message will be generated. This manual describes the problems you might be able to solve yourself. FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2 9

Priva B.V. Product description The FS Cradle is part of the labour and production registration system of Priva FS Performance. The FS Cradle has several functionalities, of which the most important is serving as docking and charging station for the FS Readers. One FS Cradle can contain up to 10 FS Readers. Functions and intended use Functions The FS Cradle should be used to activate new FS Readers that will be operated for the first time. Placing the FS Reader in the FS Cradle triggers the FS Reader: To awake from its transport mode. To pick up wireless communication that can be understood; this allows the FS Reader to select the correct frequency used for the wireless communication. To get its battery fully charged. And, if the FS Reader has been registered already: o o o The FS Reader will switch to the Linked status. The internal clock will be synchronised. The latest firmware version will be loaded if this is different from the preloaded firmware version in the FS Reader. The FS Cradle serves, most importantly, as the charging station for the FS Readers. When the FS Reader is placed in the FS Cradle, it will automatically start charging its battery. Finally, the FS Cradle serves as a docking station for FS Readers not in use. As such, it provides a platform in which the FS Readers can be placed so that any remaining registrations in the FS Reader will be uploaded automatically and necessary updates to the firmware of the FS Readers can take place. Intended use The FS Cradle is intended to be located in a central place where employees start or gather in the morning or end the working day, to ensure easy access for employees. The unit should be placed in a highly visible location, again for easy access. The intended practical use of the FS Cradle is to provide a platform on which employees can leave and charge their FS Readers after they finished working. They will then take the FS Readers from the FS Cradle when they start working again. 10 FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2

Transport and storage Dimensions Dimensions (including packaging): Weight (including packaging): 8 cm x 9 cm x 102 cm. 1,7 kg Contents of the package The package of the FS Cradle contains the following items: 1 FS Cradle. 2 plugs and 2 screws for mounting the FS Cradle to a wall. 4 rubber base sticky feet for positioning the FS Cradle on a flat surface. Separate from the package, a power cord is delivered with the FS Cradle. Conditions during transport and storage The ambient conditions must remain within the following limits during transport and storage: Temperature: -40 70 C. Relative air humidity: maximum 95 % (non-condensing). Rain: the packaged equipment must be kept dry and must therefore not stand outdoors. Sunlight: the packaged equipment must not stand in bright sunlight. Otherwise, the internal temperature may become too high causing deformation in the plastic components. Vibrations: avoid exposure to strong vibrations. FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2 11

Priva B.V. Installation - positioning the unit Location and environmental conditions The FS Cradle has been tested and can operate in greenhouse environmental conditions; however it should not be placed under direct spray of water, maximum humidity or under direct influence of abrasive or aggressive chemicals. Direct sunlight should also be avoided, because it can reduce the battery condition of the FS Readers during the charging process. Basic facility requirement The FS Cradle requires a standard power socket to plug in and become operational. The FS Cradle will be delivered with a power cord designed for the region in which the equipment can be used and therefore no further equipment is needed to use the FS Cradle. Positioning the unit The FS Cradle should be positioned in a central place where employees start or gather in the morning or end the working day and should be positioned so that it is clearly visible to employees coming in for work. The cradle can stand on itself, on a flat horizontal surface or can be mounted on a flat vertical surface (i.e. a wall). For positioning the FS Cradle on a flat horizontal surface, the 4 rubber base sticky feet that are included in the package should be glued to the four corners on the bottom of the unit, at 1 cm from the surrounds. For mounting the FS Cradle to a wall: Select a wall that is amply strong enough to hold the weight of the FS Cradle and that can withstand the repeated pressure of putting FS Readers into the charging positions of the FS Cradle. Use a proper drilling machine to drill two holes (8 mm wide, 45 mm deep) at the correct horizontal distance (check the rear side of the FS Cradle). Put the plugs that are provided with the FS Cradle into the holes and drive the provided screws into the plugs. Place the FS Cradle over the screws. 12 FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2

Installation - electrical part Electrical connection In the European Union (including the UK), the United States and Australia, the FS Cradle is delivered with a power cord and connector suited for the country in which the customer is located. Commissioning Only Priva approved service engineers/installers who have received productspecific training from Priva are allowed to commission the unit (for the first time). Preparations The FS Cradle is delivered with all the equipment necessary to make it operational. Commissioning The following steps are to be taken in order to properly install the FS Cradle: 1. The installer selects the best location, preferably in a central place. 2. The installer connects the power cord to the socket. 3. The installer makes sure that the led on the FS Cradle is on. 4. The installer places the FS Reader in each of the docks on the FS Cradle, to ensure that each of the docks can charge an FS Reader. 5. The installer checks the quality of the wireless network on that location to guarantee the upload of registrations and download of firmware updates. Operation The FS Cradle works automatically once installed and therefore does not need any actions during operation. FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2 13

Priva B.V. Taking out of operation In order for the FS Cradle to be taken out of operation, the following steps need to be undertaken: 1. The installer disconnects the power cord. 2. In case the FS Cradle is mounted to the wall, it should be lifted from the mounting screws. 3. The FS Cradle is now ready to be shipped for repair. Troubleshooting This chapter provides solutions for the most frequent problems with the equipment. If you have a problem that cannot be resolved using the information in this chapter, please contact Priva. Troubleshooting - general Certain activities may only be performed by authorised installers/service engineers because they require specialist knowledge and skills. Problem Possible cause Solution(s) Led off Power cord disconnected Reconnect power cord Led off Fuse is broken Replace the fuse in the power inlet connector (see section Maintenace and repair) 14 FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2

Maintenance and repair It is important to keep the springs (where the FS Readers make electrical contact to the FS Cradle for charging the battery) are kept free from pollution. For this reason, the contacts of the FS Cradle should be cleaned at regular intervals; the schedule depends on the degree of pollution. If the fuse of the FS Cradle is broken, it should be replaced. CAUTION: For continued protection against risk of fire, replace only with same type and rating of fuse. Take out the power cord from the power socket and from the FS Cradle. Take out the fuse holder (C) from the power inlet connector (A). Replace the broken fuse (B). Put the fuse holder with new fuse in the power inlet connector. Connect the power cord to the FS Cradle and power socket. If the FS Cradle is in need of repair, the customer will contact Priva B.V. after which the product can be sent back to Priva B.V. for repair or possible replacement. FS Cradle Installation manual 1.2 15

Priva B.V. Disposal of waste equipment The unit must be disposed of at the end of its service life. The product can be disposed of according to regulations concerning electrical devices in the designated country. The equipment is marked in accordance with European directive 2002/96/EC relating to waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE): The mark indicates that the equipment cannot be disposed of with other household waste at the end of its service life.
