This version is expanding the model year range. Please discard all previous copies of this bulletin. IF YOU CONFIRM: When starting the engine, it cranks longer than 3 seconds before it starts. ACTION: Install the Repair Kit (listed in the Parts Information). IMPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/10

SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the /Fuel Level Sensor/Fuel Filter assembly from the vehicle. Refer to section FL in the appropriate Service Manual (ESM) for removal information. Follow all applicable Service Manual Warnings and Cautions. 2. Place the assembly in a clean working area. CAUTION: Don t get any dirt or other foreign material in any of the assembly parts. Disassemble 3. Disconnect the wires from the fuel level sensor. Fuel Level Sensor Wires 4. Snap the fuel temperature sensor out of its mounting clip. 5. Carefully separate the flange from the chamber. Flange Release the 2 side hooks. One hook is shown in Figure 1; the other is on the opposite side and is not visible in the picture. Hook: Not Visible Hook Chamber Figure 2 6. Remove the chamber from the rest of the assembly. Set the chamber aside. You ll be reusing it. Chamber Figure 3 3/10

7. Carefully disconnect the fuel pump connector. Connector Use a small flat blade screwdriver to unlock the connector. Figure 4 8. Remove the spring. Spring Set the spring aside. You ll be reusing it. Figure 5 9. Carefully remove the fuel pump bracket shown in Figures 6 and 7. Bracket You ll need to release the hooks. See Figure 7 for example. CAUTION: Be careful; don t damage the suction filter/pick-up screen. Suction Filter Figure 6 4/10

There are 4 hooks. 2 are shown and 2 are on the other side (not shown). Bracket Push/pull on the bracket while unlocking the hooks with a small flat blade screwdriver. Push/Pull Set the fuel pump bracket aside. You ll be reusing it. Hooks: 2 of 4 Figure 7 Support Rubber 10. Remove the support rubber from the bottom of the fuel pump and discard it. The kit comes with a new one. NOTE: The support rubber may come off with the bracket in step 9. Figure 8 11. Remove the fuel pump. a. Carefully push on the fuel pump connector as shown in Figure 9. b. Then pull the fuel pump out. Set the fuel pump aside. You ll be reusing it. Figure 10 12. Once the fuel pump bracket and fuel pump have been removed, discard the flange and the filter/pressure regulator. Flange Filter/Pressure Regulator 13. Open the fuel pump repair kit and remove the new parts. Flexible Tube: Press Fit on Each End Figure 11 CAUTION: Don t pull on the flexible tube of the new parts. The flexible tube connections are a press-fit at both ends. Pulling on (stressing) these fittings may damage the connections. 6/10

Assemble 14. Put the new support rubber (from the kit) in the fuel pump bracket. Reuse the original fuel pump bracket. 15. Put the new packing/seal (from the kit) in the pressure regulator receptacle. Packing/ Seal. Regulator Receptacle Support Rubber Bracket NOTE: If the old (original) packing is still in the receptacle, remove and discard it. Figure 12 16. Place the new fuel pump packing (from the kit) on the fuel pump outlet as shown in Figures 13 and 14. NOTE: If the old (original) packing is still on the fuel pump, remove and discard it. 17. Place the fuel pump on the fuel pump bracket as shown.. Figure 15 18. Carefully slide the fuel pump bracket with fuel pump onto the new filter/ pressure regulator. Make sure the pressure regulator slides into the bracket receptacle correctly. Make sure all 4 bracket hooks snap into place correctly. 19. Connect the fuel pump connector. Spring 20. Install the spring. 21. Make sure the pressure regulator outlet seal is in place. Connector Regulator Outlet Seal Figure 17 22. Carefully slide the fuel pump/fuel filter assembly into the chamber. See arrows on Figure 18. The black flexible tube goes inside the chamber. Make sure the 2 flange hooks are snapped into place on the chamber. Make sure the spring is seated/installed correctly. Pump/Filter Assembly Spring Hook: One of Two Chamber Figure 18 9/10

23. Connect the wires to the fuel level sensor as shown in Figure 19. Make sure the connectors are pushed together completely. White Wire 24. Snap the fuel temperature sensor into place. Black Wire Temperature Sensor Figure 19 25. Reinstall the whole assembly back into the vehicle. Refer to section FL in the appropriate Service Manual (ESM) for installation information. Make sure to use (install) a new fuel tank gasket (O-ring) see Parts Information. Follow all applicable Service Manual Warnings and Cautions. 26. Confirm the incident is fixed. 10/10
