2-15 Light concepts 16-53 54-61 Low-voltage halogen lights 62-65 Switch systems Light on trend 66 Used selectively, artificial light accentuates the architecture and interior of a room. The right lighting concepts are essential to living areas / practical spaces, such as kitchens and bathrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, home offices, hallways and utility rooms, as well as to hotel and shop concepts that aim to excite and delight. Light is becoming an increasingly important criterion in designing furniture and spaces, particularly also in shopfitting where it has never been more important to create exciting spaces that appeal to the emotions. This produces exciting prospects for architecture and furniture design. Light makes our world visible, emotionalises it, gives it meaning. It stimulates, relaxes and motivates. This makes light much more than just a ceiling lamp hanging from the centre of a room. It is much more a matter of balancing the interplay of adequate daylight and good illumination. 2 www.hettich.com.au www.hettich.co.nz

Light concepts Low-voltage halogen lights Switch systems 2-15 16-53 54-61 62-65 66 Selecting the right lighting is important. Lights with halogen bulbs create a homely and brilliantly radiant atmosphere. Completely on trend nowadays is LED light (LED = Light-Emitting Diode) which is finding its way into more and more areas of the home and in shop design. Changing light colours, integrated in shelf systems and cabinetry, transform furniture into radiant objects that work wonders setting the mood of living and retail space with their controllable light effects. As one of the world's leading manufacturers of furniture fittings, Hettich has been dedicated to the domain of lighting for over 20 years. Created under the " banner in the mid-80s, the magic product range has constantly moved forward and, to this day, is continuing to grow. It provides interior designers and architects with a wealth of creative ideas and inspiration for integrating light as a trend-focused and highly emotionalising element in furniture and room design. LED the future of lighting. Good for people, good for the environment. A circumstance that Hettich, as a manufacturer of innovative lighting, has taken into account for many years by constantly advancing energysaving products and production methods. Dialogue with our customers and partners not least shows us we are on the right path by resolutely focusing on the lighting technology of the future, the LED. Combining economy with ecology the right way forward. LED GlasLine 18 www.hettich.com.au www.hettich.co.nz

Light concepts 2-15 i Low-voltage halogen lights Switch systems 16-53 54-61 62-65 66 Sign round Versa Novara long An important contribution to protecting the environment 19 % of the world's electricity is currently being used by lighting and/or artificial illumination. Low-energy lighting, such as LED lighting, is making it possible to significantly reduce this percentage. As well as this, low energy lighting has the potential to cut CO 2 emissions by 42,5 million tonnes annually. Low energy LED lighting is energy efficient and as such, has the potential to make an important contribution to protecting our environment. LED lighting uses very little electricity, which means significantly lower CO 2 emissions. Using low energy lighting alternatives is a great way to save ecological resources. When used economically, ie., switching them off when not in use, the strain of lighting on our environment is further reduced. As well as being a low energy light source, magic are also manufactured in an ecologically friendly way and produce less environmental pollution when disposed of than other products. magic lights are produced from concept to completion with function and the environment in mind. When selecting your lights, look out for the symbol below, which represents the most energy-efficient products in the magic range: energy-efficient Technik für Möbel 19

2-15 Light concepts 16-53 54-61 Low-voltage halogen lights 62-65 Switch systems 66 i Superior energy balance Compared with a halogen lamp of the same light output, the LED is not only distinguished by significantly lower energy consumption, greater economic and luminous efficiency but also by its exceptionally long service life of up to 100000 hours. Operating maintenance-free for 6 hours a day, 250 days a year, the useful life of a white LED is 33 years and over. A halogen lamp, in contrast, needs replacing after approximately 1,3 years. 40% of the energy used by an LED is converted into light and only 60% into heat. For halogen lamps, this ratio is around 10% to 90%. Line mini InnoLine FloorPoint 20 www.hettich.com.au www.hettich.co.nz

Light concepts 2-15 i Low-voltage halogen lights Switch systems 16-53 54-61 62-65 66 Impressive efficiency also in terms of economy In addition to long useful life, the economic benefits of LEDs are primarily the result of low operating and maintenance costs. Their compact dimensions, impact and vibration resistance, low heat build-up and high quality of light make them predestined for virtually all areas demanding the use of innovative, energy and cost-efficient lighting technology. Using 80% less energy than a halogen lamp and therefore far cheaper to operate, the LED's tremendous energy-saving potential is obvious. Accentuating, highlighting and emotionalising these are the strengths with which LEDs have so far become established as a source of light. The new, innovatively and comprehensively extended magic LED range for the first time offers numerous attractive lighting solutions which depending on task and choice not only provide accent, night and orientation light, but also function light for all lighting tasks in and on furniture. This really boosts the creative potential in planning attractive lighting. 2-15 Light concepts 16-53 54-61 Low-voltage halogen lights 62-65 Switch systems 66 Low-voltage halogen lights i Delta S Siria Multi-talents in light planning Halogen light impresses with its radiant brightness and brilliance light with the feel-good factor of natural light. Colours look as natural as they do on a bright day and surfaces take on a particularly radiant sheen. Exciting lighting design with halogen light falls in line with the trend towards creating a pleasantly lit, homely ambience. Low-voltage halogen lights operate on 12V AC voltage and therefore require a transformer for connecting them to the normal 230-240 V mains power supply. Standardised plug connections, both in the mains and low-voltage range, make installation child's play. Integrating the wide range of different switch systems, such as wireless, sensor or doorcontact switches, is not a problem either. Needless to say, all magic halogen lights can also be dimmed just as the mood takes you, from being as bright as day to relaxingly subdued. 56 www.hettich.com.au www.hettich.co.nz

Light tone / Basic lighting parameters Light Light is electromagnetic radiation at wavelengths from 380-720 nm. If it's short-wave, i.e. below 380 nm, it's ultraviolet light. Long-wave light at a wavelength of > 720 nm is called infrared light (heat radiation). Colour temperature / tone of light Colour temperature describes the colour of light naturally radiated from lamps, characterised by the colour temperature, measured in (Kelvin). The Kelvin temperature scale begins at absolute zero, -273 Celsius, the lowest temperature known to exist. When a "blackbody" is slowly heated, it gradually changes from dark red to red, to orange, white and to pale blue. The higher the temperature, the whiter the colour of this blackbody becomes. A distinction must be drawn between warm-white and cold-white light. The light tone of a lamp only says something about the colour appearance of the light it gives but not about the colour-rendering quality of the light source. Luminous flux Luminous flux describes the luminous efficiency of a light source and is expressed in lumen (Lm). Luminous intensity Light intensity (illuminance) is probably the term most frequently used in lighting and defines the incidence of luminous flux on a defined surface, measured in lux (Lx). Lux = lumen/m 2 LED 2500-7600 K Light bulb 2200-2800 K 7000 K 6000 K 5000 K 4000 K 3000 K 2000 K 1000 K Fluorescent lamp 3500-5000 K Halogen lamp 2700-3200 K Light distribution diagrams The light distribution diagrams shown in the catalogue help to choose the right light.
