Page 7 Description of Noncompliance : Description of the Noncompliance : Daimler AG ( DAG ), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain C-Class, S-Class and GLC-Class vehicles (205/222/253 platform) the propellant mix ratio in certain seat belt pretensioner igniters might not meet the manufacturing specifications. Thus, in the event of a crash the igniters might not deploy in situations where the front seat belt pre-tensioners are activated. FMVSS 1 : 208 - Occupant crash protection FMVSS 2 : 209 - Seat belt assemblies Description of the Safety Risk : In a crash of sufficient severity necessitating the deployment of the front seat belt pre-tensioner, the ignitor may not deploy thereby increasing the risk of injury to the occupants. Description of the Cause : Due to a production deviation at the supplier, a certain batch of igniters might not meet the propellant mix ratio requirements. Identification of Any Warning NR that can Occur : Supplier Identification : Component Manufacturer Name : Autoliv B.V.&Co.KG Address : Otto-Hahn-Str. 4 Elmshorn FOREIGN STATES D-25337 Country : Germany Chronology : In late November 2016, DAG received information from the supplier regarding certain seat belt pre-tensioner igniters which may not have been produced according to the manufacturing specification, and initial investigations were commenced. In December 2016, the supplier issued a corresponding Part 573 report to NHTSA. From January 2017 onward, DAG reviewed logistics documents together with the supplier to determine which seat belt assemblies might potentially be affected. In February 2017, further analysis was done together with the supplier to identify potential risks of a nondeployment of a front seat belt pre-tensioner in the event of a crash. In March 2017, the potentially affected vehicles in the field were determined according to the logistics documents. In early April 2017, DAG determined that a potential safety risk cannot be excluded.

Page 8 Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will replace the potentially affected front seat belts on the affected vehicles.pursuant to 49 C.F.R. 577.11(e), MBUSA does not plan to provide notice about pre-notice reimbursement to owners since all involved vehicles remain covered under the new vehicle warranty. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : NR NR Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Owners will be notified in May 2017, with an interim letter, and again when parts are available.
