Components A typical Metasys Zoning Package (MZP) System requires the following: supervisory controller (Network Control Module [NCM] or N30 Series) Unitary (UNT) rooftop controller (AS-UNT121-1 or AS-UNT1126-0) zone damper zone sensor (AP-TMZ1600-0 or TE-67Nx-1BOO) split-bobbin transformer VMA1440 controller (zone control) TE-6300 supply air temperature sensor (zone control) M9106 actuator (bypass or slave control) DPT-2015 differential pressure sensor (bypass control) Building Automation System (BAS) The BAS includes: supervisory controller M3 Workstation The functions supported by the supervisory controller include: global data sharing and object mapping weekly scheduling trending password protection energy management features including Optimal Start/Stop, Load Rolling, and Demand Limiting The functions supported by the M3 Workstation include: graphics weekly scheduling password protection VMA control logic UNT control logic UNT Controller The UNT rooftop controller includes: control of heating, cooling, and economizer functions proportional control of economizer for minimum position and free cooling phone jack for connecting a commissioning tool Variable Air Volume Modular Assembly (VMA) 1440 Controller The VMA1440 controller includes: factory downloaded configuration controller with actuator Note: The VMA1420 controller can also be used with the MZP application, but the internal Differential Pressure Transducer (DPT) sensor is only used for monitoring purposes. The VMA1420 is not available as a factory-mounted option and must be field installed on damper assemblies. Damper Assemblies Zone and bypass damper assemblies are offered in several standard round or rectangular sizes. Non-standard sizes are available at an additional cost. See the Ordering Information section in the Metasys Zoning Package Overview Technical Bulletin (LIT-639100). Figure 2: Zone and Bypass Damper Assemblies 2 Metasys Zoning Package Product Bulletin
Zone Damper Assembly A zone damper assembly includes: damper VMA1440 controller (mounted on a steel plate to the damper) supply air temperature sensor (TE-6300) steel controller cover (optional) A VMA1440 controls the zone damper. The VMA1440 controller reads information from the supply air temperature sensor and zone temperature sensor and modulates the zone damper to adequately heat or cool the area. Minimum damper position can be set at the VMA1440 controller or through the BAS. All information at the VMA1440 controller level can be shared by the BAS. The zone damper can control slave dampers on zone or bypass dampers. The optional steel controller cover is shown on the left side of Figure 3. The cover is available at an additional cost. The bypass damper regulates air volume and static pressure through the system. As building load is satisfied, and the zone dampers in the system begin to modulate closed, static pressure increases in the ductwork. If system static pressure becomes excessive, the static pressure transducer sends a signal to the VMA1440 controlling the M9106 actuator on the bypass damper. In response, the VMA1440 sends a signal to the actuator to partially open the bypass damper, allowing excess air to flow from the supply side to the return side of the rooftop unit. This eliminates excessive system static pressure, prevents the generation of noise at the diffusers, and prevents the erratic loss of temperature control in the zones. The optional steel actuator cover is available at an additional cost. Figure 3: Zone Damper Assemblies and Steel Controller Cover Bypass Damper Assembly A bypass damper assembly includes: M9106 proportional actuator (mounted on a steel plate to the damper) damper steel actuator cover (optional) Note: The static pressure transducer kit for use with the VMA1440 controller (DPT-2015) must be ordered separately. Figure 4: Bypass Damper Assembly with M9106 Proportional Actuator Zone Sensor Use either the TE-6700 room sensor or the TMZ1600 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) room sensor with the Metasys Zoning Package system. Both sensors support: phone jack wiring connection (TE-6700 also includes terminal block) override button for temporary occupancy service jack for commissioning tool wallplate for convenient wallbox mounting Metasys Zoning Package Product Bulletin 3
Split-Bobbin Transformer The split-bobbin transformer includes: choice of primary voltages foot, plate, or conduit hub mounting built-in circuit breakers Accessories These Metasys Zoning Package accessories are also available: M3 Workstation (includes M-Graphics) Zone Terminal (for use with UNT Rooftop Controller) carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) sensor VT-100 interface (other vendors) humidity sensor differential pressure transducer (DPT-2015) M3 Workstation The M3 Workstation is used with the N30 Series Supervisory Controller, and it includes: contemporary user interface dynamic color graphics (M-Graphics) trend analysis (M-Trend) ActiveX compatibility For more information on the M3 Workstation, refer to the M3 Workstation Product Bulletin (LIT-6420050). For additional features, the M5 Workstation and NCM can be used. For more information, refer to M5 Workstation Product Bulletin (LIT-641050). Zone Terminal The Zone Terminal is a handheld interface and is used with the UNT to provide the following functions: Monitor, Password, Adjust, and Time Schedule modes single, pushbutton monitoring easy-to-read digital display Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Sensor The CO 2 sensor allows the Metasys Zoning Package to provide additional ventilation to zones as needed. The BAS also can trend information from the sensor for future retrieval. Humidity Sensor The Humidity sensor, Outside Air humidity (OA-H), is part of the economizer cycle. The rooftop economizer changeover strategy is based on dry bulb temperature and outdoor enthalpy. Outdoor temperature and humidity each can be shared from one sensor to all rooftop units, using the global data sharing feature of the supervisory system. Static Pressure Transducer Kit The static pressure transducer kit (AS-DPTKIT-1), also referred to as the Differential Pressure Transducer (DPT), is needed for bypass applications and provides input to the VMA1440 zone damper to activate bypass control. Order this kit separately. HVAC PRO Software The Metasys Zoning Package is an HVAC system that provides reliable zoning control of standard packaged rooftop units. MZP supports HVAC PRO software Release 8.03. 4 Metasys Zoning Package Product Bulletin
