Twist the ring counterclockwise until it disengages from the head and remove. 3. Remove the light bulb and disconnect the nut on the head post (See Figure 2). 4. The light housing assembly can now be removed from the light post by lifting it up and sliding off the post. 5. Remove the screw, light ring and light on the new NOPTIC spotlight assembly. Figure 1 Figure 2 \
6. Place the NOPTIC light housing assembly onto the light post (see Figure 3). 7. Replace the lock washer, light bulb ground wire and post nut. 8. Tighten the nut to 95 in-lbs. ± 5 in-lbs. This step should be repeated at a regular interval to ensure that the system is securely mounted. 9. Attach the light bulb power connection and insert the bulb into the light housing.* 10. Replace the light housing ring and reattach the allen screw. (See figure 4). 11. Test to verify the spotlight is working properly. 8 IMPORTANT Routing NOPTIC Camera Cable The following installation instructions provide the recommended procedures for routing the cable assembly into the vehicle. These instructions were designed to work best with most vehicles, but installation and cable routing procedures may vary depending on the specific make and model. Check the NOPTIC Photo Library for other ideas on camera cable routing: www.noptic.com/installation-photo-library/ 1. Run the cable exiting the spotlight head along the light shaft and secure at the end of the light shaft with zip ties. 2. Route the wire down the A-pillar through the A-pillar door seal (See figure 5). 3. Open the vehicle hood and route the wire carefully into the engine compartment. 4. Locate and remove an existing Figure 5 grommet in the vehicle firewall. Route the camera cable through the opening in the firewall to enter into the cabin of the vehicle. Avoid property damage Route only as instructed Do not route cable over sharp metal edges which may damage cables Do not route cable where it can be damaged from engine heat Do not route cable where it can be pinched by moving parts (ex: the hood ) \
5. Route the camera cable through the hole and into the vehicle cabin (See Figure 9 and 10). 6. Attach the strain relief to the camera cable so that it the cable as it goes through the firewall hole without leaving tension on the cable. 7. Route the camera cable under the dash to a clear area where you can mount the video box (See Figure 11). Figure 9 (Foot well view) Figure 10 (Engine bay view) Figure 11 www.noptic.com 1-888-NOPTIC-1
Installing the NOPTIC Video Box (ECU) 1. Mount the video box using two sheet metal screws, securing them through the holes in the video box. 2. Connect the camera cable into the video box making sure they are properly aligned (Figure 12). Figure 12 3. Connect the RCA cable RCA connector in the video box making sure they are properly aligned (Figure 13). Figure 13 NOTE: All vehicles have different space constraints under the dash and may have additional equipment that has been previously installed. Care must be taken to mount the video box close to a power source. Make sure the power line from the video box will reach the power source before it is mounted. \
4. If you will be using a stand-a-lone monitor or existing DVR system to view the NOPTIC video simply plug the other end of the RCA cable into an available video-in port. (Figure 14) Figure 14 (Composite Video) 5. If you want to view and record the NOPTIC thermal video on a MDT. Follow the included directions for installing the GrabBee Software and drivers. Plug the other end of the RCA cable into the Startech convertor. Then plug the USB into the laptop or dock. Figure 15 (Startech Device) www.noptic.com 1-888-NOPTIC-1
6. Locate and connect the red wire from the video box to the switched ignition wire you have identified. 7. Connect the black wire to a convenient ground location, ideally chassis ground. 8. Check the tension and end points on the Unity Light bar by adjusting the allen screws on the underside of the lamp post. Take care not to overtighten and strip these bolts! Avoid property damage Improper circuitry may result in system outage, NOPTIC Spotlight System failure and property damage Circuitry must be connected to a power source requiring ignition switched ON The NOPTIC Spotlight system will drain vehicle battery if connected to power source not requiring ignition switched ON \
NOPTIC Troubleshooting After you have installed the NOPTIC and GrabBee Software, follow the steps below to ensure installation has been performed correctly 1. Start the vehicle or turn the key to the Accessory on position. The camera is designed to always be on when the vehicle is on. 2. As soon as power is applied, there should be an audible click from the shutter in the camera. This tells you that the camera is receiving power. If you do not here a click, double check your wiring. 3. Open the GrabBee software to view the NOPTIC thermal image. When you install the software and open it for the first time. Click on the wrench icon and change the video format from PAL to NTSC M. www.noptic.com 1-888-NOPTIC-1
Optional Power Switch A toggle switch/ rocker switch maybe installed so the camera is not powered all the time. Adding an inline toggle switch allows user turn off the system when not in use even if the vehicle is on. Install a switch in-line between the red wire of the video box and the vehicle power. Chassis Ground ECU (Pos +) (Pos. +) Toggle Switch Fuse Panel (Neg. -) Figure 16 Installer may route the switch to an ideal location for driver s convience. The example install below shows a possible mounting location. Now the system can be turned on and off via a toggle switch when the vehicle is on. Figure 17 \
