ACTION 1. Determine which type of seat frame assembly (device and slide assy.) is in the vehicle. 2. Use the applicable Service Procedure in this bulletin to repair the seat. MPORTANT: The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. 2. Slide the driver s seat fully rearward and remove the front two seat-to-body bolts. 3. Remove the headrest, tilt the seat back to the upright position and tilt the seat cushion fully up in the front and in the back. IMPORTANT: Make sure the seat cushion is tilted into the fully UP position in BACK and the fully UP position in FRONT. NOTE: It will be easier to do the procedure if the cushion is in this position. 4. Slide the seat mid-travel and remove the rear seat-to-body bolts. 5. Disconnect both 12V battery cables, negative cable first, and wait at least 3 minutes before proceeding to step 6. 6. Disconnect the seat harnesses from the body harnesses. 7. Remove the seat from the vehicle. 8. Place the seat, back side down, on a clean covered workbench. 9. Determine which seat type you have: If you have a seat with a tube ring on the left side and a tube ring on the right side, go to Service Procedure A (seat frame needed) in this bulletin. 4. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame. Figure A4 5. Using a plastic trim tool remove the two knobs from the seat switch. Figure A5 6. Using a plastic trim tool remove the seat switch from the trim panel. Note the position of the two harnessto-seat frame clips in Figure A6 for Step 7. Figure A6 5/23 NTB08-089b

7. Use needle-nose pliers to remove the two harness-to-seat frame clips. Figure A7 8. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame. Figure A8 9. Remove the seat cushion J-clips from the seat pan. Figure A9 6/23 NTB08-089b

10. Remove the J-clips for the side of the seat cushion from the seat pan. Figure A10 11. Remove the nut securing the seat belt buckle to the seat frame assy. Unplug the buckle harness from the seat harness. Discard the buckle and nut. NOTE: The nut must not be reused. A new nut will come with the new buckle. Figure A11 12. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame. Figure A12 7/23 NTB08-089b

13. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame. Figure A13 14. Remove the upper seat back bolt indicated in Figure A14. Figure A14 15. Loosen but DO NOT REMOVE the lower seat back bolt indicated in Figure A15. 16 Repeat steps 14 and 15 for the other side of the seat. Figure A15 8/23 NTB08-089b

17. Use a felt tip pen or equivalent to mark all the locations where the seat harness clips to the seat pan. Do this to the top and bottom of the seat pan. Figure A16 Figure A17 FRONT Figure A18 9/23 NTB08-089b

19. Remove the three screws holding the harness bracket to the seat pan. Remove the harness bracket from the seat pan. Figure A19 20. Unplug both front motors. Figure A20 21. Disconnect the rear motor harness from the seat, and then disconnect the seat harness from the motor. Figure A21 10/23 NTB08-089b

22. Thread the seat harness and seat switch from the seat frame assy. 23. Remove the two remaining upper seat back bolts and separate the seat back and cushion from the seat frame. Figure A22 NOTE: Check the seat frame assembly to ensure the three brackets shown in Figure A23 are in place. If any of the brackets (LH Front Seat Bracket Assy., LH Cushion Finisher Bracket, or RH Cushion Finisher Bracket) are missing replace them with the ones from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Figure A23 24. Remove the front pan clamp bolts and then thread them partway back into the pan. Wiggle the bolts. Does it feel like the attached captive nut is loose to the pan? YES: The seat pan must be replaced as part of the repair. NO: Remove the bolts and continue to step 25. Figure A24 11/23 NTB08-089b

25. Replace the rear C-Clips with the ones from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Figure A25 26. Discard the original plastic bushings and metal clamps. Figure A26 27. Install the two new bushings (two lower, two upper) into the new Clamps from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Figure A27a Original (no side tabs, don t use). Replacement (has side tabs, use these). NOTE: The lower bushing is shown here. The upper bushing has three mounting tabs. 12/23 NTB08-089b

IMPORTANT: o The lower new bushings have a notch molded into the side. (see circle) o The lower new bushings have a long and a short side. (see arrows) o The lower bushings MUST be installed as show in the picture below. 28. Install both front clamps with bolts as shown in Figure A28. TORQUE: 10 N m (1 Kg-m, 88.5 in-lb) 29. Reassemble the seat in reverse order of removal. NOTES: Ensure the seat harness clips and routing are in the same place as before disassembly. Figure A28 Thread a tie wrap from the kit through the holes in the seat pan. Tie wrap all the wires together just below the blue connector as shown in Figure A29. Seat back to seat frame bolt TORQUE: 60 N m (6.1 Kg-m, 44.2 ft-lb) Install a new belt buckle to seat frame with the new nut that comes with the buckle. TORQUE: 49 N m (5 Kg-m, 36 ft-lb) Figure A29 During cushion installation add U-clips to the cushion J-clips as shown in Figures A30a & A30b. A30a A30b 14/23 NTB08-089b

30. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle, reconnecting the seat harnesses to the body harnesses while doing so. 31. Install the four seat-to-body bolts and torque in the sequence shown below. TORQUE: 49 N m (5 Kg-m, 36 ft-lb). 29. Reinstall the headrest. Figure A31 30. Reconnect the battery cables. 31. Check seat for proper operation. 32. 10. Using a trim tool with a U-shaped fork (such as Snap-On AI77A or equivalent) remove the trim retainer from the seat frame. Figure B10 11a. Remove the upper seat back bolt shown. REMOVE 11b. Loosen but DO NOT REMOVE the lower seat back bolt shown. 11c. Repeat steps 11a and 11b for the other side of the seat. Loosen, DO NOT REMOVE Figure B11 12. Remove the front pan clamp bolts and then thread them partway back into the pan. Wiggle the bolts. Does it feel like the attached captive nut is loose to the pan? YES: The seat pan must be replaced as part of the repair. NO: Remove the bolts and continue to step 13 Figure B12 19/23 NTB08-089b

13. Determine which type of rear C-Clips you have: If OLD type, replace the rear C-Clips with the ones from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. NEW HAS RIDGE If NEW type proceed to step 14. OLD - NO RIDGE Figure B13 14. Discard the original plastic bushings and metal clamps. Figure B14 15. Install the two new bushings (two lower, two upper) into the new Clamps from the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Figure A15a NOTE: Original (no side tabs, don t use). 16. Install both front clamps with bolts as shown in Figure 17. TORQUE: 10 N m (1 Kg-m, 88.5 in-lb) 17. Reassemble the seat in reverse order of removal. 30. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle, reconnecting the seat harnesses to the body harnesses while doing so. 31. Install the four seat-to-body bolts and torque in the sequence shown below.
