TEEN AND PARENT- CAR USE AGREEMENT Car crashes are the number-one killer of teens. Therefore, we are agreeing to some fundamental rules for your use of our family vehicle, (and/or any vehicle in your name). If you follow these rules, you will maintain your driving privileges. 2 Teen and Parent Driving Agreement Before You Drive: 1. Check in with one of us (hereafter referred to as us ) before you drive. You must have consent to use the car each and every time; 2. Let us know where you are going and what time to expect you home. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Safe Habits; in the Car; and Driving: 1. Always wear a seat belt, and make sure all of your passengers wear seat belts; 2. Obey all traffic laws and posted signs; 3. Never speed, tailgate, weave in and out of traffic or participate in any aggressive or reckless driving behavior; 4. Never engage in thrill-seeking, stunts, or any form of racing; 5. Consider the weather and road conditions and adjust your speed appropriately; 6. Never allow anyone else to drive our vehicle. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Consequences for one speeding ticket: month(s) no driving. Consequences for 2 speeding tickets: month(s) no driving. You must pay all fines for infractions. Any other more serious infractions, the driving restrictions shall be set by us at our discretion. Passengers: 1. Abide by the passenger requirements for L, which are as follows: Supervisor must be age 25+, with a valid Class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 licence, and must sit beside you in the front passenger seat; Limit of 1 passenger in addition to the supervisor.

3 2. Abide by the passenger requirements for N, which are as follows: 1 passenger only (immediate family exempt) unless with supervisor age 25+, with a valid Class 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 licence. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Distractions: Cell Phones, Food and Music: 1. Never participate in any behavior that makes you look away from the road or distracts you from driving; 2. Set rules for your passengers, so that they do not distract you, and if they are distracting you, pull over to a safe location until the distractions are stopped before driving again; 3. Never use your cell phone while the car is moving. This includes talking and texting. Pull over to call, text or use the vehicle GPS; 4. Do not use earphones in the car; 5. Do not eat or drink while you are driving; 6. Do not smoke in the car or allow others to smoke in the car. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Drugs and Alcohol: 1. Absolutely zero tolerance for use of drugs or alcohol; 2. Never drive if you have used any drugs or alcohol; 3. Never allow drugs or alcohol into your car by any passenger; 4. Never allow passengers who have used drugs or alcohol into your car. Consequences for violations: No driving for a minimum of 6 months; more at our discretion. In Other Cars: 1. Never get into another car with a driver who has used drugs or alcohol; 2. Never get into another car where drugs or alcohol are present; 3. Always wear a seatbelt while a passenger in someone else s car. Consequences for violations: No driving for a minimum of weeks/months; more at our discretion.

4 Take Responsibility: 1. We expect you to pay for all traffic citations. Until those are paid, you cannot use the car; 2. Never conceal any tickets, warnings or collisions from us; 3. We expect you to contribute a month to the costs of gas, maintenance, and insurance; 4. Other: ;. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Grades: 1. We expect you to maintain good grades in order to keep your driving privileges. If your grades drop below a(n) average, you will lose driving privileges until they improve; time at our discretion; 2. If any school work is past due, driving privileges will be revoked until the work is caught up; 3. If you skip school, driving privileges shall be revoked 1 month for each time school is skipped; 4. We expect your work ethic and proper conduct to be maintained at school. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months; more at our discretion. Call Us: 1. Call home or our cell phone if you are concerned for your safety, either as a driver or as a passenger; 2. As your parents, we promise that we will pick you up no matter where you are, no matter the time of day or night, or arrange a cab ride home; 3. We promise not to ask embarrassing questions in front of your friends if you call us; 4. If you cannot reach us for any reason, and you are concerned for your safety as a driver or passenger, take a cab home and we will pay for it. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months.

5 Be a Good Friend: 1. When you re in another car where you are not driving, speak up when you notice unsafe behavior by the driver; 2. Let your friends know that you admire safe driving habits; 3. If the unsafe behavior continues, ask to be let out, and call us or a cab. Consequences for violations: No driving for weeks/months. Curfew: 1. You will stay home at least weekday nights. Those weekday nights you go out, you will be home at pm; 2. During the weekend evenings of Friday and Saturday, you must be home by pm/am; 3. Other: ;. Consequences for violations: No driving for week(s) or for every part of hour late, unless we have given our prior approval; more at our discretion. Rewards for Excellent Driving Behavior: To my teen: 1. For every month of safe driving, following all of the rules outlined here with zero infractions, we will: (possibilities to consider) pay % for insurance on your car, (if car is in your name); pay for gas in the amount of $ per month; pay % of your normal average cell phone bill;.

If you achieve six months of safe driving, following all of the rules outlined here with zero infractions, we will: (possibilities to consider) pay all of your normal average cell phone bill for weeks/month; gift certificate for clothes/entertainment in the amount of $ ; pay for gas in the amount of $ ;.
