Sauer Compressors Sauer & Sohn in Kiel Kiel Home of The first compressor designed and manufactured by our company left our factory in Kiel a city 100 km north of Hamburg and well-known for its shipbuilding and naval traditions as long ago as the 1930s. Initially called Poppe, then later on Sauer Compressors, the company rapidly gained a reputation for producing high quality and high performance piston compressors designed for demanding applications in shipping, naval equipment, industry and offshore activities. The Kiel office is still the headquarters and biggest site of the familyowned Sauer Compressors Group, which has a global turnover of about 100 million and employs 525 people worldwide.
