Analog and digital dimming capabilities allow greater control over lighting systems than traditional HID systems, providing even more potential energy savings. The stability provided by the electronic ballast extends the lamp life and dramatically reduces the frequency of lamp replacement, lowering maintenance costs throughout the life cycle of the ballast. Dimming can be controlled to accommodate human activity, daylight harvesting, and interactive lighting systems. Featuring ballast power factors between 0.9 to 0.98, these ballasts exceed the requirements of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, which regulates ballast efficiencies for metal halide lamps. In addition, electronic HID ballasted fixtures may qualify for rebates from local utility companies, further offsetting initial replacement costs.
