Albemarle County Virginia Brush Fire Truck Specification Purpose: This specification is intended to be used for the procurement of Brush Fire Suppression Apparatus for the Fire Departments & Companies in Albemarle County. This specification is not intended as a minimum. It is designed to provide a serviceable piece of equipment without any modifications by the requesting Department or Company. This specification is designed to allow each Department or Company to modify it s contents to meet their individual needs. The recommendation of this committee through this specification to allow modifications as mentioned above, but all of the requirements set forth in this specification should be considered a minimum when making modifications. The tank will have a bucket fill hinged door located on top of the tank. The water tank will have a 4 overflow thru the floor of the tank and will be a part of the top fill assembly. A tank to pump line will be provided via a 3 NPT bushing. A tank refill line will be provided with a 1-1/2 Bushing. Tank will accommodate a Fire Research water level indicator. Fire Pump: Provide a Waterous E 500 Series Diesel Pump ( Model 501 A or E 511 A) Company or department requesting brush truck will specify which pump. The pump will be equipped with an electric pump primer for use with environmentally safe oil. The Pump will wired to the truck electrical system and piped to the truck fuel tank. The pump will be mounted on the right rear corner of the truck bed crossways to allow for servicing Optional Fire Pump: and best use of space. (E501A 30 GPM @ 480 PSI and 115 GPM @ 60 PSI) (E511A 45 GPM @ 230 PSI and 325 GPM @ 40 PSI) Optional Fire Pump: (This pump was included to meet special needs of East Rivanna Vol. Fire Company) Provide a Hale 30FS pump driven by a Duetz BF3L2011 60 HP@\2800 rpm diesel engine. The pump must provide approximately 300 GPM. @ 150 PSI and 100 GPM @ 300 PSI. The pump will be equipped with an electric pump primer for use with environmentally safe oil. The Pump will wired to the truck
electrical system and piped to the truck fuel tank. The pump will be mounted on the right rear corner of the truck bed crossways to allow for servicing and best use of space. A Control Console/Pump Panel will be provided at the pump with the following controls: Start / Stop Switch, Throttle, oil pressure gauge, engine water temperature gauge, main water inlet compound gauge, main water outlet pressure gauge, tank to pump valve switch, 1.75 preconnect line valve switch, 2.5 discharge line valve switch, 1.5 tank fill line valve switch, foam system control, and water level indicator. A Control Console will be provided in the cab with the following controls: Start, Stop Switch, Throttle, oil pressure gauge, pump engine water temperature gauge, main water outlet pressure gauge, tank to pump valve switch, 2.0 front bumper remote controlled nozzle line valve switch, controls for front mounted remote controlled nozzle, foam system control, and tank water level indicator. 3 tank to pump line will be installed with ¼ turn electric ball valve located at the tank. A check valve will be installed between the valve and the pump with the check towards the tank. A 3 inlet with male NHT and 3 X 2-1/2 male NHT (2-1/2 C&O Thread may be substituted) adapter with cap will be provided at the rear of the truck. ( 3 Pipimg Will be used regardless of which pump is installed.) A 2-1/2 Discharge will be placed at the rear of the truck near the 3 Suction. This Discharge will have a quarter turn manual valve and equipped with male NHT and Capped with a 2-1/2 X 1-1/2 reducing cap with 1-1/2 cap. (2-1/2 C&O (3.292.X 8) adapter may be required by some companies. A 1-1/2 discharge with quarter turn ball valve will be placed near the 2-1/2 discharge. This will be 1-1/2 Male NHT with cap. A live booster reel will be mounted on the left rear corner of the truck bed to accommodate 200 of 1 booster line. The Booster Line and nozzle will be provided by body builder. Nozzle to be Task force Tip with valve nozzle with break-apart to allow for live
transfer to extension line. (Reel Tex Booster Line is preferred by most. Option may allow other makes of booster line.) An extension of the front bumper with brush guard and space to properly mount a remote controlled nozzle. (Sidewinder Remote Controlled Wildland Monitor 2.0 NPT female inlet and 1.5 NHT male outlet with 30 GPM Stream/Fog nozzle. A Push Bar Brush protection system will be installed to protect the Grill, head lights and radiator. Fire Suppression Unit to be equipped with drains that will allow for full freeze protection of unit. A rear step to allow for easy accesses to the top of the fire suppression unit. Emergency Lighting: LightBar: Whelen B-Link LED Liberty Light Bar. Light Bar to be Mounted on top of Cab Protection Bar Grill Lights: Red Whelen 500 LED mounted on the front Bumper Front Fender Cornering Lights: Red Whelen 500 LED mounted on the front Fenders Rear Body Lights: Red Whelen 500 LED 2 mounted under the side of the body. 2 mounted under the rear of the body.
