The Driving Force in WE TRAIN DRIVERS DEFENSIVE DRIVING A computerized program for drivers to avoid collisions and develop safe driving habits. DRIVING TECHNIQUES Reviews the importance of defensive driving and proper driving techniques for tractor-trailer combinations. VEHICLE INSPECTION Focuses on the requirements and importance of vehicle inspections: pre-trip, on-the-road and post-trip inspections. BASIC VEHICLE CONTROL SKILLS TEST Covers forward stop, forward and backward through offset alley, parallel parking, alley dock and straight line backing. COACHING THE TRUCK DRIVER Focuses on problems associated with truck driving. Addresses difficulties such as: large blind spots that lead to backing collisions, broad widths that make side-swiping common, and a high driver s seat that makes it difficult to spot hazards. Learn to protect your space, judge overhead clearances, handle adverse weather conditions, allow for blind spots, prevent collisions, etc. BACKING & TURNING Backing safely, basic backing maneuvers, advanced backing maneuvers, and right & left turns. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS Covers the major points of safety related to handling hazardous materials. Scott Gambrazzio Jr. Having both time constraints and the added pressure of a job requirement made obtaining my CDL seem unrealistic.
