INTRODUCTION Read through all of the instructions before starting installation. Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation. Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation. Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps. In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer. Note! During installation, the car and components must maintain a temperature of at least +20 C (68 F). 1 Clean the sensors. Use: Isopropanol. Allow to dry. IMG-346082 Page 3 / 29

4 Clean the cradles. Use: Isopropanol. Allow to dry. Avoid contact with the cleaned surfaces. IMG-352603 5 Apply a thin and even layer of primer to the cleaned plastic surface. Caution! Not on the centre of the sensor. Use: Bonding primer for plastic. P/N: 31335448. Hint Spray primer into the cap of the can and apply with a brush. IMG-352606 Caution! 10 Remove the cargo compartment carpet. IMG-273472 11 Prize off the four external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate. Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel so that the two clips at that end release. Use a weatherstrip tool. Pull up the sill trim panel so the remaining six clips release. Remove the panel. 12 Fold the seat cushion and backrest on the right-hand side of the rear seat forward. J8504578 13 Grasp the upper edge of the right-hand side cushion. Pull the side cushion forward so that the clip on the reverse releases. Slide the side cushion up. Remove the side cushion. J8504708 Page 9 / 29

14 Remove the screw. Pull the panel upwards so that the four clips on the inside release. Remove the panel. IMG-240927 15 Fold out the anchorage eyelets. Insert a scriber with an angled tip into the holes in the top of the covers (1). Turn the scriber so that the tip engages the reverse of the cover. Pull the covers off. Remove the screws from the anchorage eyelets (2). Remove the screw (3). Pull off the side panel at the top so that the two clips at the rear/bottom of the side window and the clip at the bottom of the D-pillar release. Disconnect the connector for the 12V socket, if present. Lift out the side panel. IMG-347037 Page 10 / 29

16 Remove the four bumper screws. IMG-273475 17 Remove the five screws (1) holding the bumper cover at the rear edge of the wing liner in the rear wheel arch. Repeat on the other side. J8601058 Page 11 / 29

18 Remove the end of the bumper cover. Grasp the bumper cover inside the wing liner. Pull carefully until the six catches at the top edge release. Repeat on the other side. J8504526 19 Remove the bumper cover by pulling it straight backwards. Note! It is recommended that two people lift down the bumper cover. Place the bumper cover on an underlay which will not damage the paint. J8504527 Page 12 / 29

20 Make a mark in the centre of the markings on the inside of the bumper cover using a scriber. IMG-346088 21 Drill out the centre of the markings. 1. Ø 3 mm (7/64 ") 2. Ø 10 mm (25/64 ") IMG-346089 Page 13 / 29

22 Use hole tool part no. 9997345 to make holes in the bumper cover. Check that the markings (1) are opposite each other when using the tool. IMG-346090 23 Caution! Place the hole tool's support sleeve on the inside, and the cutting part on the outside of the bumper casing. Make the holes in the bumper cover using the hole tool. Screw the hole tool together until it has cut the hole in the bumper cover. Remove the plastic pieces from the hole tool and make the remaining holes in the same way. IMG-346091 Page 14 / 29

24 Clean the inside of the bumper cover using a mild soap solution. Clean an area around the holes that is slightly larger than the sensor cradle. Use: Isopropanol. Allow to dry. IMG-346092 25 Clean the cradles on the surfaces as illustrated. Use: Isopropanol. Allow to dry. IMG-346093 Page 15 / 29

26 Apply a thin and even layer of activator to the cleaned surfaces where the tape is to be attached. Use: 8637076. Allow to dry. 28 Remove the rubber grommet from the hole in the car, it shall not be re-used. J8601193 29 Applies to cars with the Keyless system Disconnect the cable (1) at both ends and remove it. It will no longer be used. The cable is internally connected to a gray connector below the right tail lamp. J8601273 Page 17 / 29

30 Applies to cars with a tow hitch Detach the towbar wiring connector from the Trailer Module (TRM). Disconnect the ground lead. IMG-347023 31 Release the secondary locking by pressing the catch down and pulling the locking straight out. IMG-222068 Page 18 / 29

32 Caution! Note the location of the cables in the connector. Disconnect all cable lugs from the connector. Use special tool 9512810 or 9512632. Insert the tool in the connector and release the locking. Pull out the cable with cable lug. Pull the cable harness out through the rubber grommet. The rubber grommet is not to be reused. IMG-254283 33 Cut off the top of the large rubber nipple on the new grommet and route the cable harness for the tow hitch through. Hint Lubricate the cable harness with something that will not damage the rubber grommet and route the cable harness through the hole. Connect the cable lugs to the connector. Secure the locking and connect to the trailer module (TRM). J3703374 Page 19 / 29

34 Applies to all models Take the cable harness with the rubber grommet from the kit. Pull in the end with four connectors through the hole in the car and fit the rubber grommet. Hook the connector (1) at the intended location under the tail lamp. J8601274 35 Fit the cable with the clips (2). Applies to cars with the Keyless system Plug the connector into the antenna (1). 36 Applies to all models Install the parking assistance module on the right-hand side of the cargo compartment. Install it on the existing studs with nuts. 38 Disconnect the existing 6-pin connector from the car's normal cable harness. IMG-346589 39 Connect the connector to the cable harness for parking assistance. 40 Applies to cars with TRM or TRM combined with AEM The car's usual green connector is connected to the TRM. Disconnect this connector. IMG-346097 41 Connect the removed connector to the taped connector (1) on the cable harness for PAM. Connect the other connector from the cable harness for PAM to the TRM. Note! It is important that the Parking Assistance Module (PAM) is connected as the first module and that the cable harnesses are connected correctly, and not in a loop. J3703662 Page 23 / 29

42 Applies to cars with an accessory electronic module (AEM) The car's usual green connector is connected to the cable harness for the AEM. Disconnect this connector. IMG-346591 43 Connect the removed connector to the taped connector (1) on the cable harness for PAM. Connect the other connector from the cable harness for PAM to the cable harness for AEM. Note! It is important that the Parking Assistance Module (PAM) is connected as the first module and that the cable harnesses are connected correctly, and not in a loop. J3703662 Page 24 / 29

44 Applies to all models Install the sensors in their holders. IMG-346099 45 Check which holders are to be placed where before installing. Each holder is marked and has its own specific place. 46 Note! Prepare and install one cradle at a time. Note! The tape adheres immediately. Secure the tape on the holder. Remove the protective film from the tape. IMG-346101 47 Caution! The adhesive must not come into contact with the tape or the cradle's protruding ring. The task of the tape is to secure the cradles to the bumper cover until the adhesive has cured after approximately 24 hours. Apply a thin and even layer of adhesive. The adhesive must be above the tape level. Use: 9512950 Adhesive gun, 1161730 Mixing pipe and 9511027 Adhesive. IMG-346102 Page 26 / 29

48 Caution! Only press on the places where the tape is located. Install the sensor holders (1) horizontal with the bumper cover as illustrated and secure them. IMG-273503 49 Caution! Observe caution when installing so that the cradle does not come loose from the tape. Note! The large gray connector must protrude from the right-hand side of the bumper cover. Connect the cable harness connectors to the sensors. A clicking noise must be heard when connecting. The noise confirms that the lock has been activated. IMG-346214 Page 27 / 29

52 Lift up the bumper cover into position. Plug the sensors' connector into the connector secured below the right-hand tail lamp. Reinstall the bumper cover in reverse order. IMG-273562 53 Gather together any excess cables. Clamp the cables securely where they cannot rub or become damaged. Refit the panels and remaining parts removed in reverse order.
