MICHELIN EARTHMOVER & INDUSTRIAL TIRES
INNOVATION Since 1959, Michelin has been rolling out innovations for Earthmover customers 1959: Michelin creates the first Earthmover radial tire. 1977: Opening of Almeria (Spain). The world s first and only specialized Earthmover tire test center. 1998: Michelin creates the first low-profile tire. A tire designed to increase payload for large dump trucks. 2001: Michelin creates world s largest tire. The 59/80R63 XDR tire is designed for haul trucks. 2005: Michelin introduces the TWEEL non-pneumatic mobility concept. A monoblock wheel assembly means that treads are linked by flexible polyurethane spokes, creating a revolutionary solution to puncture problems. 2007: Michelin introduces MEMS. MEMS stands for MICHELIN Earthmover Management System, the first electronic monitoring system for Earthmover tires sized 49 and larger. Today: Michelin introduces the Tons/Kilometers TK project. A new concept in tire sales Michelin handles tire management for its client, and both partners profit from increased productivity.

Crown plies This double or triple reinforced belt offers both vertical flexibility and high lateral rigidity. Sidewalls These cover and protect the textile casing that attaches the tire tread to the wheel rim. Bead area for attachment to the rim Its internal bead wire clamps the tire firmly against the wheel rim. Inner liner This makes the tire almost totally impermeable and maintains the correct inflation pressure.
