AEGIS, LBR series fully lined high performance ball valves are engineered for reliable isolation and control of extremely corrosive, hazardous and high purity process liquids and gases. Designed using industry s pertinent specifications as a minimum requirement, AEGIS valves incorporate the highest standards of fundamental engineering principles, quality and safety that are essential in assuring reliable performance. Designed in accordance with ASME B16.10 150 lb. face to face dimensions, AEGIS valves are routinely used as direct replacements for massive, high torque and difficult to maintain plug, gate and ball valves. The low torque feature, which has been tested to be as much as 66% less than lined plug valves results in easier manual operation, reduced piping stress and considerably lower automation cost. Bi-directional pressure testing and stem seal testing to assure absolute tight shutoff is conducted in accordance with API 598 specifications. The lining integrity of each valve is tested with 25,000 volts to assure quality conformance and uniform thickness. Quality Assurance The excellent design features of the LBR valve are complemented by a functioning quality assurance process. All valves are rigorously manufactured in strict accordance with our company-committed process to assure defect-free products that are delivered on time. Utilizing modern computer-aided production methods and molding technology, our goal is to control the manufacturing process and reduce rework. A PMI process is performed on all critical components allowing material identification. In addition, all valves are subject to visual, dimensional and functional tests.
Stem Seal AEGIS, LBR series valves are designed to offer long-term maintenance-free protection against fugitive emissions which is assured through a deep stuffing box consisting of virgin PTFE chevron style rings. The axial pressure applied by the gland follower, assisted by the internal system pressure, radially expands the chevron rings to form an absolute tight stem seal. Vacuum service applications require that the packing rings be installed in the inverted direction. Blow-Out Proof Stem Design The stem of the LBR series valve is internally assembled and shouldered within the lined body to eliminate the possibility of blow-out in the event that the top works of the valve are disassembled. Integral Cast Actuator Mounting Flange The integral cast actuator mounting flange easily allows for complete valve automation without removal from the pipeline. Anti-Static Protection The PTFE/graphite packing and grounding spring provides protection against the effects of electro-static discharge. Temperature Rating, AEGIS lined ball valves are rated for continuous operating conditions ranging from F to F depending on the lining and body material selected. -60 400 External Corrosion Protection The external valve body is protected from corrosion by a two-part highly corrosion resistant, baked on epoxy paint system. Locking Devices Locking devices are available for AEGIS valves allowing the handle to be secured in either the open or closed positions.
Product Identification Upon successfully completing all relevant testing, each AEGIS valve is equipped with an individual stainless steel identification plate assuring total-traceability. In addition, all valve bodies and linings are color coded allowing end users to completely identify the product. Corrosion Resistant Linings AEGIS, highly corrosion resistant fluoropolymer and thermoplastic linings are available in PFA, PFA/AS, FEP, PVDF and PPL. Our diversified choice of materials and in-depth knowledge of industrial processes allows us to assist our customers in the selection of the most appropriate lining for their specific application. The uniformly thick linings and ball/stem encapsulations are securely anchored within the valve body by a series of dovetail grooves and pre-drilled interlocking holes. These design features facilitates the handling of process pressure, vacuum, thermal cycling and temperature cycling. AEGIS, dense linings are free of voids thus offering long-term resistance to the effects of permeation. The non-stick properties of fluoropolymer linings are also ideal for transporting highly viscous fluids. Materials of Construction The standard material of construction of the AEGIS valve body is ASTM A 395 60-40-18 (Ductile Iron). As an option, the following materials are also available. ASTM A 216 WCB (Carbon Steel) ASTM A 351 CF8M (Stainless Steel) Free Floating Ball Design AEGIS, valves incorporate into their lined ball valve design the industry-proven free floating ball concept. Each valve features a gland flange designed with an internal graphite bearing eliminating the possibility of placing a lateral load on the stem and packing. Our proven technology provides absolute bubble-tight shutoff and zero stem leakage across the full pressure range, from a vacuum of 1 Torr up to the full working pressure of 275 PSIG. Chlorine and HCL Valves AEGIS, LBR series valves are ideally suited for the stringent performance requirements demanded with chlorine gas and aqueous hydrochloric acid applications. Produced from premium grade resins, our thick fluoropolymer linings and ParaFlon seat technology features superior resistance to the effects of chemical attack, permeation, absorption, swelling and cold flow thus providing industry with convincing performance in handling these highly regulated commodities. Valves for these services are thoroughly cleaned and packaged according to our factory procedures and conform to the Chlorine Institute Pamphlet #6 specifications.
