Spritzgiessautomaten NEW Flexible injection unit for two-shot moulding

Two-shot injection moulding Effective and flexible The injection unit for the 2nd component is from the ultra compact BOY XS. It is equipped with its own hydraulic drive and control. Depending on the execution (see page 4) this unit offers a plasticizing volume of up to 76,5 cm³. The open nozzle plasticizing unit is connected to the injection unit for the second component through a corresponding adjustable highpressure hose line. The drive unit, which includes the control, is positioned next to the basic machine. Fixed wheels makes the unit easy to move to other BOY injection moulduing machines or from other supliers that are processing a 2nd component. Depending on the application the 2nd injection unit can be arranged in various positions. As shown, the 2nd injection unit is arranged vertically above the two-component mould, although a horizontal arrangement is also possible. More than two components... The setting of several injection units is possible. As a result, multiple component injection moulding can accomplished in a cost conscious way. The controls of both machines communicate with each other via I/O-interfaces and assure a seamless process during the entire injection moulding cycle. As a result, the injection time for the 2nd material component is freely selectable. 2

Flexible handling Everything at a glance The TFT display of the 2nd injection unit is equipped with a longer cable. Therefore, the placement of the monitor can be arranged at the user-side of the basic machine - directly next to the basic machine s Procan ALPHA monitor as shown below. This execution enables improved ergonomics. The assembly of the 2nd monitor on recent BOY models use standard assembly parts. For use on older BOY models or machines from other suppliers the 2nd monitor is equipped with standardized VESA mounting holes. This allows for different assembly possibilities. 3

Examples Spritzgiessautomaten Look at one of the solutions for two-shot injection moulding. It combines a BOY 90 E (900 kn clamping force) with a vertically mounted injection unit. In this example, safety glasses were moulded. The lenses and lense frame were made from highly transparent PP. The second injection unit, which is based upon the ultra compact BOY XS and is equipped with its own hydraulic drive and control, moulds the side frames from colored PP. As shown below, a BOY 35E produced the transparent PP body while the PP black cap was moulded by the 2nd component injection unit. 7
