Pat. pend. U.S. Patent Des. D598,680 S Pat. Pend. X:PND x:panda is a multiadjustable seat, delivered in 4 different sizes. Each seat adjusts in 3 different widths and stepless in seat depth. The back is dynamic, making it possible for the child to extend and push back against relatively light resistance and then recover into the desired sitting position. Furthermore the back angles to make it possible to place the child with either an open or closed hip angle. When angling the seat and the base it is possible to create the desired working or resting position. The many adjustment possibilities and wide range of accessories makes it possible to adjust the seat to an individual child s need for comfort and support. The seat fits on a variety of seat bases from R82, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. SFETY The x:panda has earned the CE-mark. This certifies that it meets all relevant European safety requirements. The durability of this product is 5 years when it is used on a daily basis. Hereafter the product must be renovated (by R82 personnel) to extend the lifetime. Remove the CE-mark, when rebuilding the product or when using other than original R82 spare parts and fittings. The x:panda is constructed for one user only. Do not place more than one user in the x:panda. Never leave your child unattended in this product. Ensure constant supervision by an adult. Incorrect use of the product, may cause serious injury to the user. Ensure that the belt is securely fixed to the product before every use. ny adjustments and addition of accessories which are not described in this manual, must only be made by authorized R82 personnel. Vests and belts must be mounted according to the instruction provided with the products. The latest version of the manual is always available online: www.r82.com WRRNTY R82 offers a 2-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. The warranty would be adversely affected if the customer s responsibility of servicing and/or daily maintenance is not carried out according to the guidelines and intervals prescribed by the supplier and/or stated in the manual. For further information, we refer to the R82 homepage/ download. The warranty can only be sustained if the R82 product is in use in the same country where it was purchased and if the product can be identified by the serial number. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, including damage caused by misuse or neglect. The warranty does not extend to non-durable parts, which are subject to normal wear and tear and need periodic replacement. The warranty is null and void if non-original R82 parts/accessories are used, or if the product is repaired or altered by anyone other than an authorised R82 representative or by trained personnel officially recognised by R82 for repair and maintenance of R82 products. R82 reserves the right to inspect the product being claimed for and the relevant documentation before agreeing to the warranty claim, and to decide upon whether to replace or repair the defective product. It is the customer s responsibility to return the item being claimed for under warranty to the address of purchase. The warranty is given by R82 or, subsequently, an R82 dealer. TOOLS Use the 5 mm llen key placed beneath the seat unit, to perform all adjustments described in this manual. 4

REDY FOR USE The x:panda is delivered so that it takes up minimum space during transport. Follow the instructions below to unpack the x:panda. * Remove the x:panda from the box * djust the back angle () * djust the back height () * djust the seat depth (C) * djust the leg angle (D) Further instructions can be found on page 6+7. The x:panda is now ready for use once you have fully read this manual. C D 5

CK RECLINE C Release the handle () to recline the back. D Firmly grab hold and support the back of the chair before releasing the handle to prevent sudden recline. The release handle is equipped with a security lock (). Turn the lock to the left and it is activated, turn it to the right and it is deactivated. lways activate the lock after adjustment. The back on x:panda has dynamic movement. Move the small ring (C) up or down to adjust the range of movement. When reclining the back, please be carefull not to get fingers caught between the gas spring and the seat (D). CK HEIHT DJUSTMENT Loosen the bolts () and () to adjust the height of the back. Fasten all bolts at the desired height. i Do not remove any of the bolts - only loosen to adjust. 6

HIP SUPPORTS - INDIVIDUL DJUSTMENT ngle, depth and width adjustment: Loosen the bolts () to adjust. Fasten at the desired position. i Do not remove any of the bolts - only loosen to adjust. LE SUPPORTS - INDIVIDUL DJUSTMENT ngle and depth adjustment: Loosen the bolt () to adjust. Fasten at the desired position. Width adjustment: Remove the bolt () to adjust. Fasten at the desired position. i Do not remove any of the bolts () - only loosen to adjust. 7

HED SUPPORTS Mounting and height adjustment: Loosen the handle (). D ngle adjustment: Loosen the screws () and (C) with a spanner. C Sideways adjustment: Loosen the screw (D). Fasten all screws at the desired position. When adjusting the head support, please be carefull not to get fingers caught between the back of the chair and the head support fiitting. CK WIDTH EXTENSION ONLY SIZE 4 Mount the back width extension and fasten the screws () on the back. Make sure the extension is pushed all the way in before fastening. 8

FIXED SIDE SUPPORTS Height adjustment: Remove the bolts (). Place the supports in the desired position and remount the bolts. Width adjustment: Loosen the bolts (). Fasten at the desired position. QUICK LOCKS FOR FIXED SIDE SUPPORTS Height adjustment: Remove the bolts (). Place the side supports with quick locks in the desired position and remount the bolts. Width adjustment: Pull the quick lock handle up (). Lock the handle down when the support is in the desired position. UPPER RM SUPPORT FOR THE FIXED SIDE SUPPORTS The upper arm supports is developed as an accessory to seats produced later than December 2008, i.e. for seats delivered before this period, you will need a new set of side supports in order to mount the upper arm supports. 9

SWIN-WY SIDE SUPPORTS Height adjustment: Remove the bolts (). Place the supports and remount the bolts. Width adjustment: Loosen the bolts (). Fasten at the desired position. Swing-away function: Press the red button () to release. The carer should check and oil (synthetic oil) the swing away parts occationally - at least every 3 months. QUICK LOCKS FOR SWIN-WY SIDE SUPPORTS Height adjustment: Remove the bolts (). Place the side supports with quick locks and remount the bolts. Width adjustment: Pull the quick lock handle up (). Lock the handle in the desired position. 10

RM REST Size 1+2+3 Height adjustment: Loosen the screw () and move it into desired height position. Fasten the screw. Loosen handle/screw (C) to move the arm rest into position. Fasten the handle/screw (handtight). ngling the arm rest cushion: Loosen the handle (). ngling the arm rest bar (only size 1+2+3): Loosen the handle/screw (C). C D djust the arm rest cushion: Loosen the screws (D) beneath the armpad. Size 4 When adjusting the arm rest, please be carefull not to get fingers caught between the chair and the armpad. VESTS & ELTS ll vests and belts with 25 mm strap can be mounted on the seat. We recommend to use the fixlocks or belt guidances on the chair. Fixlocks: Use the fixlock () mounted on the chair to fasten and adjust all vests and belts. n extra 40 mm fixlock can be mounted on the size 4 seat if needed (). elt guidance: uide the beltstraps through the prepared slots (C) in the seat. C FIXLOCK FITTINS D To mount vests and belts the correct way, it might be necessary to mount extra fixlock fittings. The fittings are mounted on the top of the back and are able to lift the straps away from the shoulders of the user. C * Mount the fittings in the lower holes () to get a higher mounting of the straps. * Mount the fittings in the top holes () to get a lower mounting of the straps. * Mount the fittings as shown on drawing (C) to get a larger distance between the fittings. * Mount the fittings as shown on drawing (D) to get a smaller distance between the fittings. 14

SET WEDES Depth adjustment: Remove the seat cushion and release the wedges from the velcro in the seat. Flip up the velcro () and place the wedges at the desired depth position. Replace the seat cushion. SET STRP Depending on the desired leg abduction the seat strap is mounted in one of the three holes in the seat. djustment: Flip up the strap in one of the sides and adjust the length of the strap. Fold down the strap to fasten with the velcro. 15

FOM CK PLTE The foam back plate can be adjusted to fit the gap beneath the back. * If necessary, cut the foam plate with a knife to make it fit the gap. * Place the foam plate on the back. COVER PLTE ONLY FOR SIZE 4 The cover plate fits the gap beneath the back. * The cover plate is mounted in the slot in the back LUMR SUPPORT Remove the cushion to mount the lumbar support on the back * Place the lumbar support in position 16

NON-DYNMIC S SPRIN ONLY FOR SIZE 1+2+3 The standard gas spring can be replaced with a non-dynamic gas spring. Loosen the handle () to angle the back. Please be aware not to get your fingers caught betweeen the gas spring and the seat when angling (). FIXED ROD The standard gas spring can be replaced with a fixed rod. 17

X:PND MOUNTED ON HIH-LOW:X To mount the seat: The interface and the footrest bar must be replaced on the old High-low frames. Place the seat adapter in the interface and push it all the way back, until it "clicks" into place. Lock the red handle () to secure the stability of the seat. Do not use the first hole it clicks into. This is just the safety hole which will catch the seat if the knob accidently should pop out of its correct hole. To dismount the seat: Unlock the red handle (). Pull out the knob (), pull the seat forward, and lift at the same time. 18

MOUNTIN THE SET ON THE HIH- LOW:X SIZE 3 ONLY SIZE 3+4 Mount the x:panda seat directly on the Highlow:x size 3 frame. * Lead the enclosed screws though the seat frame () from below. Make sure the seat is securely fastened before use. * Remove the screws at dismounting 2 x 2 x 19

ROWTH FROM ONE SIZE TO NOTHER - WIDTH DJUSTMENT Follow this description to perform a smooth adjustment of the seat width. lso read the instructions on the next page concerning depth adjustment. Dismount the hip supports () at both sides. Dismount the metalplate (). Remove the 4 bolts (C) and swing away the back. Left chair side: Pull the leg support forward but do not remove any bolts not described. Remove the bolt (D). Remove the bolt (E). D Size 1+2+3 E Size 4 E C Remount at the desired width position and replace the bolts (D) and (E). Do not fasten the bolts completely. Right chair side: Remove the bolts (D) and (E) at the opposite side of the chair. Place the seat spacer (F). Remount at the same width position as the opposite side and replace the bolts (D) and (E). Remount the bolts (C). oth chair sides: Fasten all bolts (C) (D) and (E) at both sides of the seat. Do not loosen or remove any bolts not described above. To prevent at mix up of bolts, we recommend to keep the removed bolts together with the removed part, e.g. the hip supports. F 20 The carer should check and tighten all bolts at least every month.

ROWTH FROM ONE SIZE TO NOTHER - DEPTH DJUSTMENT Follow this description to perform a smoothly adjustment of the seat depth. lso read the instruction on the previous page concerning width adjustment. Remove the two bolts () at both sides of the chair. Take a firm hold of the backrest. Remove the two bolts (). Remount at the desired depth position and replace and fasten the bolts () and (). Do not loosen or remove any bolts not described above. To prevent at mix up of bolts, we recommend to keep the removed bolts seperated. The carer should check and tighten all bolts at least every month. 21

C REPLCEMENT OF CK - ONE SIZE TO NOTHER Loosen the two bolts () Remove the two cross-point screws () Remove the six bolts (C) Remove the cover plate Remove the back stop device (D) (only size 1+2+3). Pull up the back plate (E) and remove. E Replace the desired back plate (E) and push it all the way down. Remount the back stop device (D) (only size 1+2+3). Remount the cover plate. Fasten the 6 bolts (C) D Remount the two cross-point screws (). Fasten the two bolts (). Finally check that the back moves smoothly up and down. 22

i The chair is approved according to ISO 7176/19-2001 and 16840-4:2009. x:panda seat is approved for transporting the user in motor vehicles. Please look at MESURES in the back of this manual for the max load. indication. The approval is not valid on specially made chairs and frames. The user should transfer to the vehicle seat and use the vehicle-installed restraints system whenever possible. Seat and frame must be placed in a forward-facing position, when used as a seat in a motor vehicle. Use an approved 4-point strap-type tiedown system according to ISO 10542-2. Use an approved 3-point belt according to ISO 10542-1 in the wheelchair. Restraints should not be held away from the body by wheelchair components such as armrests or wheels. It is NOT enough only to use a hipbelt or vests and belts not approved by ISO 10542. The front wheels need to be turned under the frame so as to be in line wit the frame before fixation. ll accessories must be removed from the wheelchair and secured separately in the vehicle. ccessories which can not be removed out of consideration of the user, must be secured to the wheelchair but positioned away from the user with energy-absorbing padding placed between the accessories and the user. The product should be inspected by the dealer before re-use following involvment in any type of vehicle collison. The following instructions on how to prepare the seat and frame, must be carried out before transportation. TRNSPORTTION IN MOTOR VEHICLES The x:panda seat on a R82 frame, is approved for transporting users in motor vehicles, when the chair and frame are placed in forward-facing position. POSITION THE CK EFORE TRNSPORTTION The bush () on the gasspring () must be handtightened up against the gasspring house before transportation. The back MUST be placed in vertical position and the bush () MUST be handtightened before transportation. TRNSPORT FITTINS ON UY FRME Secure the x:panda seat on a buggy frame in a vehicle: * Mount the 4-point strap-type tiedown system in the vehicle. (Follow the manufactures instructions) * Mount the two fittings () with the symbol () on both sides of the pushchair frame. * Secure the chair to the vehicle, using the 4- point strap-type tiedown system. Use either a hook or a strap in the fitting (). Use a 4-point strap-type tiedown system approved according to ISO 10542-2 or SE J2249. 28

TRNSPORT FITTINS ON THE COMI FRME 2 x 2 x C Placing the Combi Frame in the vehicle: 1. y use of a 4-point strap system, the frame is secured in the vehicle. (Follow instructions from the manufacturer of the vehicle). 4-point strap-system, approved according to ISO 10542-2 or SEJ2249, must be used. Size 1+2 Size 3+4 On the rear of the frame, fitting : 2. * Remove the plugs. * Place the fittings () on the rear bar. * Mount with the enclosed 6 mm long bolts and nuts. (Note the placement for the different sizes.) D On the front of the frame, fitting : 3. * Remove the plugs (D) in the side rails. * Slide the thread block into the side rails. * Mount the plugs (D) again. * Place the fitting () over the thread block. * Tighten with the enclosed 6 mm. bolts and washer through the holes in the thread block. It is important that the 'legs' on the fitting () is placed in the holes in the side rails. The fitting () can be turned upwards (as on the drawing) or downwards if you wish. 4. The wheelchair is fastened in the vehicle by use of a 4-point strap-system. Either a hook or a strap can be used for fastening the fittings () and (). Stick the enclosed stickers (C) on the four fittings () and (). 29

SECURE THE CHILD IN THE PRODUCT * Mount a hip-belt in the belt fittings in the seat and fasten the user. * Use the 3-point belt as shown on drawing to secure the user. The belt restraints should be adjusted as tightly as possible, consistent with user comfort. Further the belt webbing should not be twisted when in use. MINTENNCE The x:panda cushion is removable and the cover can be washed at max. 40. The condition of the foam cushion should be checked at least every six months and replaced if necessary. It is important to keep the frame clean to maintain the validity of the chair. The carer should check and oil the swing away parts occationally - at least every 6 months. Use a dry cloth, on a weekly basis, to wipe off filth and dirt from the wheels. Do not use any cleaning materials containing chlorine or methylated spirit. The x:panda has to be checked and tightened by a qualified technician at least every 6 months to avoid failures. Do not expose the gasspring to pressure, high temperatures or perforation. ny adjustments and addition of accessories which are not described in this manual, must only be made by authorized R82 personnel.
