Company Profile COMPANY HISTORY The activities of Electromecánica Naval e Industrial (EMENASA) started in the 50s. The company has evolved from maintenance and repair works to installations in a wide range of vessels. In 1998 an engineering company was integrated in our group: PDI Beiramar. Since then we have gone down a long road that has enabled us to gain accredited experience in electrical and control equipment and supply projects for ships. This is backed up by our reference list: from small fishing boats to sophisticated offshore support vessels, seismic vessels and gas tankers among others. We are a team of fully qualified professionals with a common passion: our work, together with a very clear objective: the complete satisfaction of all our clients. The last years EMENASA has been working on completing his activities to other sectors than naval industry. As a result of this, EMENASA has begun to work in power stations, automotive industry, renewable energy, etc. It s important to mention our ability to perform the complete installations, which go beyond the electricity, due to the incorporation of other companies in our group specialized in mechanical, hydraulic, research and development, etc. This fact, and our long experience, are two reasons to consider Emenasa your partner for a wide range of activities and services.

Company Profile TECHNICAL SERVICES AND SUPPORT EMENASA maintains a large stock of spare parts which are available for immediate delivery direct from our warehouse. EMENASA has established a service department. The aim is to be able to support customers with service when required during commissioning and later during maintenance. Our first priority is to provide our customers a quick response, personalized attention and technical support. To do so we count with qualified and experienced personnel into the maritime business. We have good qualified technicians to offer you professional and reliable technical backup in the most of the repairing issues at very competitive reasonable costs. It does not matter where your vessel is located, we can help you anywhere:

Automation Systems EMENASA can supply automation systems that are designed to meet the demands of shipyards and ship owners, and are configurable stand alone alarm systems with a handful of analogue channels to multi-operator station distributed systems with up to 3,000 I/O channels. The system can be delivered as alarm and monitoring system only, or can at any time be extended to include power management system, system control and a variety of other functions such as pumps stand-by or ballast automation. Distributed hardware combined with a modular architecture enables a very high degree of flexibility that ensures optimal installation solutions. All our products comply with the rules and regulations of IMO, local maritime authorities, IACS, and the Classification Societies. They are designed to meet the requirements for periodically unmanned engine room operation. Our solutions are configurable for most standard ship types, including tankers, container ships, cargo, bulk & RO-RO, ferries, fishing & coastal vessels and other special purpose vessels.

Other Supplies MAIN SWITCHBOARDS Electric power generation and distribution plays a very important role on modern vessels. Our know-how and experience makes EMENASA a reliable partner, capable of delivering a tailor made power generation and distribution system that is cost-effective, fits the function of the vessel and complies with the rules of the major classification societies. EMENASA can deliver the entire power system: from generator set, included the auxiliary engines, to small distribution panels. We can integrate a power management system or, if necessary, it can be part of our scope of supply.

Other Supplies BRIDGE & ECR CONSOLES EMENASA has provided numerous customized consoles and panels for a large variety of marine applications. Our designs are specially ruggedized to meet harsh marine environments. EMENASA works closely with the customer during the design phase. We can perform all designs in 3D view, which are provided for customer approval prior to fabrication. EMENASA provides complete integration of all installed components and systems, whether supplied by us or any third party.

Product Development TUNNEL THRUSTER Electric drive tunnel thrusters with fixed pitch propeller are available in a wide range of power. The frequency converter is defined according to the characteristics of the electrical motor, and controls the motor start-up, as well as the motor rotation speed and direction. The system can be supplied complete, or the electric motor can be made to fit flange and shaft end of a shipyard supplied thruster. EMENASA has developed a modular remote control system, which provide complete control, monitoring and alarm functions.

Product Development ELECTRIC AUXILIARY PROPULSION Electric auxiliary propulsions are designed for variable speed electric motor input, either DC with SCR control systems, or AC with variable frequency drives. EMENASA can deliver a stand alone control system, or prepare an interface that fits the main propulsion control installed on board. This type of propulsion is the ideal choice for vessels that need to operate at low speed with reduced noise and high torque at low rpm, for instance fishing vessels in trawling or small oceanographic vessels. The efficiency is highly improved by using the electric propulsion instead of the main engine.

Product Development TAKE HOME DRIVE EMENASA has supplied several combined shaft alternator/motor systems, which can operate in shaft alternator operation (PTO) and in motor operation (PTI) as additional redundant propeller drive. For PTI operation the main engine is stopped and the clutch between main engine and reduction gearbox is disengaged. The shaft motor has to be accelerated by a pony motor, supplied by a frequency converter, up to synchronous speed. When only one main engine is installed on board, the vessel remains maneuverable and ready for service even if the main engine is down. At low service speeds using the PTI-system the efficiency is highly improved. If the system is considered as an extension to a standard PTO system, only a moderate extra cost is needed.

Product Development SHYMGEN FUEL SAVING SOLUTION FOR VESSELS Power generation onboard is normally carried out by diesel engines driving constant speed synchronous generators either as shaft generators or auxiliary diesel generators. Diesel engines operate more efficiently at variable speed, also controllable pitch propellers show a better hydrodynamic performance than constant rpm operation, mainly due to the higher pitch setting for a given load. The SHYMGEN system is a power conversion solution able to control the voltage and frequency of the power generation systems onboard. It allows the generators and drive train to be run at variable speed, thus optimizing the efficiency of both diesel engines and propeller.

Product Development P&EMS We understand that there is a need for change in how the vessels are operated; as fuel becomes ever more expensive, margins become tighter and legislation becomes stricter. P&EMS is a system for power monitoring and energy efficiency that fits to any type and size of vessel, and any propulsion and generation system. The energy management system P&EMS is designed to provide an easy tool for monitoring and recording of ship s fuel consumption, power generation and electric consumers. This allows the crew of the ship to receive information of the status of the ship and to manage their vessels in ways that are more economical. P&EMS has no limit to show information: it has an user interface for the generation and evaluation of all kinds of statistics and ratios. Monitoring of fuel consumption Constant monitoring of power and electric propulsion. Calculation of optimal parameters Alarms Statistics Reporting and graphs Data transmission to land stations

Product Development STEERING GEAR In collaboration with other companies of our group, EMENASA can offer our customers turn-key rudder solutions, optimized to the requirements of individual ship-owners or shipyards. This includes design, manufacturing and installation of the complete system, from the hydraulic rudder actuators and hydraulic power units to the steering control system, all designed to meet the requirements of the applicable regulatory body. Steering control systems include interfacing with Autopilot and Dynamic Positioning (DP1 and DP2); and in dual rudder installations, where it is not adequate to have a mechanical tie bar between the tiller arms, a system whereby the rudders can be electronically synchronized. EMENASA provides all components for ship specific rudder angle indicator systems: feedback unit, a rudder angle amplifier and rudder angle indicators. If it is necessary this system can be integrated with the control panels and cabinets.
