Modules are made from fibreglass with steel reinforcing struts. Individual units link together. They can be installed with a two-person lift each section is just 42kg. Road Plate is viewed as a safer alternative to steel plates for trenches up to a maximum of 700mm wide. It has a weight bearing limit of 44 tonnes over a 700mm wide trench. Each section is 1500mm x 500mm. Only the end sections need bolting to the ground. Drop pin feature ensures lateral stability. Watch intro video here: https://vanguardgroup.wistia.com/medias/5wwspqdifs Vanguard Road Plate consists of two types of modules: Centre Modules (ramped) - 1500mm(L) x 500mm(W) End Caps (rounded) - 1500mm(L) x 500mm(W) Usability: The Vanguard Road Plate has been independently tested and certified to withstand a load of 44 tonnes spanning a 700mm trench, with a safety factor of 2:1. In addition, Oxford Plastics (manufacturer) performs regular batch tests to ensure the strength and quality of the products being manufactured. The Road Plates could be used up to a maximum speed of 65kmph safely, without causing any damage to vehicles, pedestrians or the product itself, however it is strongly recommended by Oxford Plastics and Vanguard that the posted speed must be 30kmph to ensure the most satisfactory performance. 30kmph must be the posted speed when the modular Road Plates are used in New Zealand as contractors will also need to display 'Uneven Surface' signs which immediately requires a 30kmph speed limit. As per the traffic plans drawn up by NZTA for the use of Road Plates, Oxford Plastics and Vanguard strongly advise that 30kmph be the advised speed limit under CoPTTM use.

Watch installation video here if this is the first time you are installing Road Plate: https://vanguardgroup.wistia.com/medias/enl9ejak9u 2. Visually check each unit prior to use. Do NOT use if damage is identifiable such as below: 3. Check the trench width does not exceed 700mm and sides of trench are secure 4. Check the drop pins are in working order 5. Lay out work site and signage according to NZTA site diagram (ref page 5) 6. Place Road Plates centrally over the trench. Plates join together with inbuilt steel linking pins. (see detail on page 7) 7. Once all the Centre plates are in place, link the End plates 8. Bolt End Plates to the ground with a minimum of 2 bolts (see recommended fasteners on page 4).

Minimum 2 fasteners required per end cap (all supplied by Vanguard with product). Starting from one end lift the plates to disengage the linking system When removing plates check for any signs of damage and wear. Stack securely for transportation and store in a safe environment 3. Remedial of End-Cap fastener holes after use fill with suitable bituminous product flush to road surface

Road Plate is a heavy duty modular system for covering trenches to allow passage by traffic or pedestrians at road works. INSTALLATION GUIDE Check for damage Check the trench width does not exceed 700mm Check the drop pins are in working order Make sure the plates are placed centrally over the trench Lock plates together with inbuilt steel linking pins Once all the plates are in place link the end plates End plates must be bolted to the ground by a minimum of 2 bolts (we recommend M16 x 150mm Screw Bolts) SAFETY GUIDELINES Maximum loading of 6000kg per Road Plate. This is the wheel loading of a 44 tonne vehicle Each Road Plate weighs approx. 42kg and should be lifted by 2 people Always check the condition of Road Plates prior to instalment.
