Otherwise, continue with Loosen the Bseplte Screws: on this pge. 1) Loosen the Bseplte Screws: IMPORTANT: Do not remove ny of the screws in the following step or it will be difficult to reinstll them. Using smll Philips hed screwdriver, loosen screws & b in bseplte, round key cylinder hole, one turn. NOTE: Screws, b, c & d re set t the fctory. Screws & b re tightened nd screws c & d re left loose. c d b 2) A Key Cylinder Tht Is At Lest 1-1/8 Long Must Be Instlled: > The key cylinder tht you instll must be 1-1/8 long or longer. >>>> Do not ttempt to instll key cylinder tht is shorter thn 1-1/8 > The two photos below illustrte the difference between 1 nd 1-1/8 key cylinder. 1 long key cylinder. Instlling the KC9357/KC9357-2 3) Mke Room for Key Cylinder: Due to the dimeter of the key cylinder, it is necessry to hve ded ltch () plced out of the wy when instlling the key cylinder. Therefore... Using your finger or pir of needle-nose pliers, push ded ltch towrds the top end of trim s indicted by rrow in photo. NOTE: As indicted by rrow in photo, you ll notice tht when you push the ded ltch forwrd, it will swing little bit in counterclockwise direction. 4) Hold Ded Ltch in Plce: To insure tht ded ltch is plced fr enough out of the wy to llow key cylinder to be threded in properly: Insert finger into key cylinder hole nd hold ded ltch firmly in plce. Crefully turn the trim over while keeping the ded ltch in position. 5) Verify Plcement of Ded Ltch: Fig. 1 Two holes on ded ltch () should be showing within the two holes (b) in bseplte. b 57047-B Pge 7 04-2007
Instlling the KC9357/KC9357-2 6) Instll the Key Cylinder: Instll.050 cylinder wsher. IMPORTANT: A.050 cylinder wsher must be used IN ALL CASES, regrdless of the key cylinder length. If you re instlling cylinder tht is longer thn 1-1/8, you must lso instll blocking ring (see Tble 1: Blocking Rings, on pge 8). A simple formul for determining blocking ring thickness is: Blocking ring thickness = length of cylinder minus 1-1/8 If not lredy done, instll cm onto cylinder. Cm must be clover lef design (see Tble 2: Recommended Cms, on pge 8). Tilt top of trim down t shrp ngle. Screw in key cylinder until it stops. Use mechnicl key s hndle for turning if necessry. Instlling the KC9357/KC9357-2 8) Alignment of Interchngeble Cores: If n IC Core is used, center the interfce towrd the bottom. 9) Tighten the Four Screws in the Bseplte: Tighten the four bseplte screws in the following order: > Tighten nd b until snug. > Tighten c nd d until snug. > Fully tighten nd b. > Fully tighten c nd d. > Check ll four screws to mke sure tht ll four re completely tight. c d b 10) The Ded Ltch s Criticl Edge: For clrity purposes only, photo on the right is view of dedltch with escutcheon removed. Edge () is referred to s the ded ltch s criticl edge. IMPORTANT: In the next step, the criticl edge on dedltch will hve to be lined up with hole (b) in bseplte. See Position the Ded Ltch s Set Screw Hole: on pge 10 b 57047-B Pge 9 04-2007
Instlling the KC9357/KC9357-2 11) Position the Ded Ltch s Set Screw Hole: Tilt the trim until you see the criticl edge lign with the lrger hole in the bseplte s shown in photo on right. Look closely t edge of ded ltch s criticl edge () when doing this. IMPORTANT: When the ded ltch s criticl edge is correctly ligned, the ded ltch s set screw hole will likewise be correctly ligned. Instlling the KC9357/KC9357-2 12) Prtilly Tighten the Set Screw: Using 1/16 Allen wrench, prtilly turn in the set screw until outer end of set screw is bout flush with surfce of bseplte. 13) Fully Tighten the Set Screw: Finish turning in the set screw until it hits the stop. IMPORTANT: At this time, outer end of set screw should be little bit below the surfce of the bseplte, s shown in photo A. If you hve turned in set screw s fr s it will go nd it is protruding beyond the surfce of bseplte, s shown in photo B, the most probble cuse is tht ded ltch ws not positioned properly (see Position the Ded Ltch s Set Screw Hole: on pge 10). If you hve turned the set screw in s fr s it will go nd it is protruding from the surfce of the bseplte, do the following: Turn set screw bck out so tht bout 1/4 is protruding from surfce of bseplte. Reposition criticl edge on ded ltch ccording to the instructions on pge 10). Turn set screw in until it just hits the stop. IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten set screw becuse the bseplte my strt to bow outwrd resulting in gp between trim nd door when trim is mounted. A B CORRECT INCORRECT 57047-B Pge 11 04-2007
