Reliable efficiency NAVILUS gearboxes the right drive for every ship FLENDER Drives Answers for industry.
Floating giants luxury on the high seas including the drive. Quiet running, even with a full load thanks to first-rate engineering. We have been supplying the shipping industry with drive technology for many years. Close collaboration with our customers and close links with the industry have been the basis for a successful partnership for decades and at the same time the indicator of our performance profile. With the customer for the customer Know-how at process, product and system level is the most important factor in our service to our customers. We work with them to develop individual drive concepts for all possible types of ships from a power class of 8 MW up. Our drives optimised specifically for ships transmit the motive power to the propeller without unnecessary losses. Highest efficiencies and optimum power-weight rations, lowest possible vibration and noise generation are characteristics of our products and thus of our first-rate engineering. However: high availability and before all else punctual delivery, as well as worldwide customer support, remain among the main factors behind our success.
Safety and comfort: transport at cruise level. Powerhouse delivering maximum reliability for offshore applications. Our gearbox range extends to many types, from 8 MW generator gearboxes to 50 MW multi-motor marine gearboxes. If required, all gearboxes are designed with the appropriate coupling, tailored to the respective type of ship, naturally. As a customer, you can always be sure of maximum reliability, optimum efficiency and minimum maintenance costs. Furthermore, the quiet running of our drives reduces static loads and ensures permanently comfortable operation, even under full load. Worldwide service Our range of services is of a similarly high standard. To ensure economic operation, optimum efficiency and lowest possible life cycle costs, we offer our customers not only a worldwide service and condition monitoring programme, we are also there, wherever and whenever you need us anywhere in the world. So with NAVILUS you sail in peace in both senses. Single-motor ships Single-motor ship gearboxes are used on inland waterway and coastal ships and even on seagoing ships. They can be fitted with axles vertically offset, axles horizontally offset and even with axles diagonally offset, depending on the ship s requirement. Frequently a power take-off is provided to generate inexpensive on-board electric power. The generators can be driven either secondarily or primarily, as required. We also offer solutions which guarantee power take-home operation (PTH). This requirement is growing in importance, e.g. for ships with hazardous cargoes. At Siemens all gearboxes are standard-fitted with a fitted oil supply system and an add-on monitoring system (for unsupervised operation). The world s largest sailing ship, the Royal Clipper, was fitted with a type GVA 1120 dual speed-reducing gearbox.
Speed and flexibility for all maritime drive requirements. The power range extends from 1,000 up to 30,000 kw with transmission ratios from 1.5 to approx. 12.1. The propeller thrust bearings are built into the gearbox. Correspondingly, the housings are designed distortion-free, also to guarantee faultless tooth engagement under all conditions, for example when sailing in bad weather conditions. Two-motor ships Two motors, one gearbox and different requirements: u Addition of the output of two or more diesel motors on one propeller u Different ship speeds, through single- or twin-motor operation u Flexibility in maintenance operation on twin-propeller craft with four motors u Redundant drive systems The flexibility resulting from redundancy is frequently utilised on passenger ships, such as ferries. PTOs are standard today. Frequently also what are known as primary PTOs are provided, i.e. the always fitted multipledisc clutches for engaging or disengaging a motor are arranged so that when the motor is running, the PTO can be operated while the propeller is shut off. Furthermore, two-speed PTOs are becoming more common, thus enabling even more flexible propulsion to be achieved. Generator gearboxes We offer our customers generator gearboxes for generating inexpensive on-board electric power. These are used as separate gearboxes in conjunction with slow-running diesel motors and arranged in the propeller shaft line or at the front of the main motor. The most varied systems are available for this. Two-speed generator gearboxes are also available for PTO/PTI (power take-in) operation. These are utilised for on-board electric power generation in PTO mode, but can also be used as emergency drive in PTI/PTH mode to guarantee redundancy by reversing the polarity of the generator to create a motor and decoupling the diesel motor by means of a disconnect coupling. Dredgers For different dredgers such as hopper suction dredgers or cutter suction dredgers we offer gearboxes of the most varied kinds: u Propeller drives u Cutter head drives u Suction-and-pressure pump drives u Jet-pump drives u Generator drives Siemens has gearbox solutions for different applications in its range and is totally familiar with the requirements of these complex drive systems.
