MANN+HUMMEL overview of applications according to standard filter classes Air is the foodstuff consumed most frequently by humans. The pollution of the atmosphere through environmental influences is on the increase. At the same time humans are becoming more sensitive to particles contained in the air. Along with particles the environmental influences also include contamination in the form of gases which even particle filters cannot eliminate. The use of adsorbtion filters such as the MANN+HUMMEL activated carbon filter is the solution. The MANN+HUMMEL activated carbon filter is ideally suited to remove harmful and undesirable contamination arising from gases. The adsorbtion of gas is a complex filtration task. Therefore we offer you our full support during selection of the right filter concept. MANN+HUMMEL Filter mats Excellent economy The media used by MANN+HUMMEL are designed for latest generation progressive depth-loading filters. They are pressed on the clean air side and utilise the full depth of the synthetic non-woven fabric for dust holding. The MANN+HUMMEL filter media are manufactured without chemical bonding agents. This allows realisation of the maximum pore space which is the reason why MANN+HUMMEL filter mats have such a high dust holding capacity. The filter mat is the first option Filter mats are an important component used to solve filtration tasks. MANN+HUMMEL filter mats offer numerous advantages: Long service life through maximum dust holding capacity Low running costs through low pressure drop and regenerative capability up to filter class G4 Low disposal costs as fully incinerable Highest operational reliability through use of unbreakable thermally-fixed synthetic fibres Filter mats G2 F5 Ceiling filter mats F5 + F6 Paint arrestors G2 G4 Pleated panel filters G2 F9 Applications: Applications: Applications: Applications: Coarse and fine filtration in ventilation equipment with limited installation space or low air volumes Final filter stage in paint shops and spray lines Paint arrestance in paint shops and spray lines Coarse and fine filtration in ventilation equipment with limited installation space or low air volumes 5

MANN+HUMMEL Filter mats G2 F5 Progressive saving Using MANN+HUMMEL filter mats instead of mats with a conventional design will save you money. The advantage is the continuously progressive structure of the MANN+HUMMEL mats. This enables realisation of the maximum dust holding capacity. Compared to conventional depth-loading filters a 60% longer service life can be achieved. In most cases the dimensionally stable filter mats do not require additional support. MANN+HUMMEL Ceiling filter mats F5 + F6 Better to be safe than sorry Safety is particularly important with ceiling filter mats. Their advantages include a progressive structure and dust bonding agent which permanently holds back dust particles harmful to paint even at higher temperatures. This also prevents free flowing particles already arrested from entering the process room. The polyester fabric on the clean air side provides additional security against ingress of dust and damage of the medium during assembly. MANN+HUMMEL Paint arrestors G2 G4 The paint arrestor with stable dimensions Dimensional stability is especially important for the arrestance of sticky substances in order to achieve a high contaminant holding capacity. Heavy sticky substances would compress a normal fabric and consequently very quickly clog the filter through particle bridging. The fabric from MANN+HUMMEL with its high, dimensionally stable pore space and progressive structure traps the paint particles and thus avoids premature bridging of the particles which would lead to the filter clogging. MANN+HUMMEL Compact filters MANN+HUMMEL Compact filters high filter surface area without glass fibres Depending on the composition of the substance to be arrested it is often preferable to use surface area filtration rather than the mechanism of depth-loaded filtration. A further reason for the use of the compact filter is a limited installation depth. The disadvantages of glass-fibre paper, especially with regard to its sensitivity during fitting and the risk of damaging the medium are eliminated with MANN+HUMMEL compact filters through use of synthetic fibres. In general, compact filters are able to achieve better arrestance at high flow rates in a small installation space than can be achieved with pocket filters. MANN+HUMMEL compact filters guarantee the best possible security against ingress of dust, also in situations with extreme turbulence. The compact design achieves a filter surface area six times the area of conventional pocket filters. MANN+HUMMEL Compact filters maximising surface area. MANN+HUMMEL Compact filters all the advantages at a glance: Long service life through maximum filter surface area Low running costs through low pressure drop Maximum operational reliability through unbreakable synthetic fibres Easy disposal as fully incinerable Compact filters F5 F9 Applications: Most compact design for fine filtration in ventilation and air-conditioning systems. High potential to reduce running costs. 14

MANN+HUMMEL Compact filters F5 F9 MANN+HUMMEL compact filters are made with unbreakable, synthetic high-performance fabric produced from polypropylene fibres. In contrast to glass fibres they are extremely expandable and can handle very high mechanical loads. Their compact design enables a filter surface area which easily exceeds that of a conventional filter. Thermoplastic spacers between the pleats serve to establish a stable pleat structure. This is the pre-condition for use with high volumetric flows and enables long service life. The plastic housing is extremely dimensionally stable and able to handle pressure. The air flow direction, installation position and service side can be varied. It seals the filter securely and offers protection for the pleats during fitting and operation. MANN+HUMMEL High temperature filters all the advantages at a glance: Long service life through maximum filter surface area Low running costs through low pressure drop Compact design Temperature stability up to C No metal separators High temperature filters F6 + F8 Applications: Fine filtration in: Drying systems used in surface technology applications Drying and baking ovens used in the pharmaceutical industry 16

MANN+HUMMEL High temperature filters F6 + F8 The high performance characteristics of MANN+HUMMEL high temperature filters regarding service life, compact design, high volumetric flows and low pressure drop is made possible by the filter medium. The new pleat technology using spacers made from glass-fibre allow small pleat spacing and a consistent and stable pleat structure. Conventional filters usually employ metal separators to stabilise the paper pleats. This technique involves the risk that the paper will wear through on the metal separator and subsequently destroy the filter. There is no such risk with MANN+HUMMEL filters because metal separators are not used.
