CONTRACTOR SPECIAL INTRODUCING NEW PRODUCTS FOR 2017 I ve stayed with New Holland as it is a good, proven brand and the back-up and dealership service is excellent. Introducing New Holland s range of new high capacity machines for demanding contracting and large scale farming.

NEW HOLLAND T5 AND T6 RANGES DELIVER CUSTOMISABLE POWER, COMFORT AND RELIABILITY New Holland s new T5 Tier 4B range packages all the benefi ts of larger horsepower machines into a compact, manoeuvrable workhorse. Features include the 3.4 litre ECOBlue Compact HI-eSCR Tier 4B engine, which gives 24% more torque backup as well as increased overall performance, best-in-class Terraglide TM front suspension combined with ComfortRide TM cab suspension to deliver a ride previously only reserved for larger tractors. The T5 range is available in three models: the 99hp T5.100, the 107hp T5.110 and the 117hp T5.120. Torque levels at 1500rpm are 430, 468 and 491Nm respectively. Designed with loaders in mind, there s a new wide frame for greater stability and visibility, plus the option of lower side rails if a loader is fi tted at a later date. Either mechanical or electrohydraulic joysticks with integrated transmission shifting makes operation simple, with loader and transmission controls all on one unit. The refi ned Electro Command TM transmission now has new Auto Transport and Auto Field modes, making for simplifi ed gear changing on the road as well as engine and transmission speed management during PTO and draft operations. The deluxe VisionView TM cab boasts a panoramic windscreen with 200 degree wiper for improved visibility whatever the weather. This also applies at night, thanks to new high power optional LED work lights. Rear lift capacity has been raised to 5420kg and a new fi xed heavy-duty front axle option allows the T5 to be fi tted with 28 front tyres. Like the T5, the new Basildon-built T6 range features the same sleek styling seen on New Holland s larger tractor ranges and offers an outstanding power-to-weight ratio making it the ideal choice for contractors. Every T6 can be tailored to individual customer requirements, with a huge number of options available. The new 115-175hp range meets Tier 4B emissions standards with New Holland s ECOBlue TM Hi-eSCR technology and is available in six models from the T6.125 to the range-topping six-cylinder T6.180 with 740Nm maximum torque, the only 6-cylinder tractor in this category currently on the market. All other models in the range boast 4 cylinder 4.5 litre engines. The T6.145, T6.155, T6.165 and T6.175 models are all available with both Electro Command TM semi-powershift or Auto Command TM CVT transmissions and the wheelbase of all models is now similar to the previous 6 cylinder range at 2642mm. A longer wheelbase helps transfer power to the ground, while at the same time delivering a smoother ride for those long hours in the cab. Engine Power Management develops more power and torque depending on transmission load, hydraulics and PTO. For example, on the T6.165 an extra 33hp is on hand when required allowing engine speed performance to be maintained under changing loads. The Horizon TM cab features reduced sound levels and boasts dual-zone air conditioning, an enhanced instrument panel and is available IntelliSteer TM ready or with IntelliSteer TM installed and ready to go. Auto Command TM models include the Sidewinder TM multifunctional armrest. All T6 models feature LED lights as standard, which are 60% brighter than the worklights on previous models.

THE NEW HOLLAND T7 RANGE A COMPREHENSIVE LINE-UP FOR CONTRACTORS New Holland recognises that contractors need to tick a lot of boxes when it comes to choosing the next workhorse for their business. And that is why the T7 range offers a comprehensive line up in the key mid to high-horsepower bracket. The new T7 Series is powered by a 6-cylinder engine with ECOBlue TM HI-eSCR technology developed by FPT Industrial, our in-house engine manufacturer. This cutting-edge engine meets Tier 4B emissions standards without the need for Exhaust Gas Recirculation or Diesel Particulate Filter, using instead a high effi ciency after-treatment system that takes away the need to limit combustion effi ciency to reduce emissions. The engine has been confi gured with power as its priority, and upper power levels of both wheelbase models have further increased. The long wheelbase models have an extra 5% hp while standard wheelbase increases by an impressive 9% hp. Then there s Engine Power Management to add on top, meaning a tractor rated at 180hp now has an extra 45hp, taking the maximum power output to 225hp. The eight-model T7 Series, which ranges from 175hp to 270hp (max EPM), is now joined by two new models the T7.290 and T7.315, taking the T7 to an unparalled 10 model line-up. These two new additional models are ideal for contractors, giving them not only class-leading power, torque and effi ciency but also the versatility to perform everything from mowing through to ploughing. Range Command TM, Power Command TM and Auto Command TM transmissions are available, depending on customer requirements. The T7.290 and T7.315 have the award-winning Auto Command TM Continuously Variable Transmission with four direct drive points and 100% mechanical effi ciency, which is perfectly positioned for certain applications such as baling, mowing, high-speed transport and heavy duty draft work. These new models can be specifi ed with ISOBUS level 111 allowing two-way communication between the imlement and the tractor. This function allows the New Holland BigBaler to control the tractor s speed according to the changes in crop conditions, not only maximising productivity and optimizing performance but ensuring you have a consistent product for your customer, too. Safety on the road is of paramount importance to contractors, and that s why the T7 Series brings braking systems previously only found on commercial road vehicles. For T7.230 models and above, advanced braking technology in the form of optional anti-lock braking systems manages the brakes of each wheel independently, increasing stability when braking on greasy or wet surfaces. That s not where the benefi ts end though, as the ABS SuperSteer option also enables operators to make tight turns in the field by automatically braking the inside wheel as the steering wheel is turned. And when it comes to wheels, both T7.290 and T7.315 can now be shod with larger 2050mm and 2170mm diameters with tyres widths of 710 75 R42 or 900 60 R42.

FR650 FORAGE CRUISER Mark Hallam Performance, comfort, effi ciency and dealer back-up are the reasons why Derbyshire grassland contractor Mark Hallam has opted for a FR650 this year, his fourth consecutive New Holland FR forager. The new FR series features the ECOBlue TM Hi-eSCR Tier 4B engine and ranges from 476hp to 775hp. The fl agship FR850 retains the 20.1 litre 824hp engine. The FR650 has the new award-winning Cursor 16 engine, which delivers powerful performance with low fuel and DEF consumption. Because the engine has been tuned to forage harvesting requirements, there s almost instantaneous transient response meaning the FR650 is able to deal with sudden changes in load without loss of power, The FR Forage Cruiser has the largest crop channel in the industry both in width and diameter. This means it s able to effortlessly deal with any lumps in the swath, an important feature for contractors who forage crops that have been rowed up by different machines. It s no worse on fuel over the smaller FR600 model we had previously, but we re able to do more acres an hour with the FR650. Recently in second cut it managed 119 acres in 7.5 hours averaging 5 litres/hour, which I am very pleased with. This is partly down to the new ECO mode in the engine management system which helps optimise fuel consumption, resulting in fuel savings of up to 21% over the previous Tier 3 model, cutting at the same length. When tested by the DLG the FR650 delivered best-in-class fuel effi ciency of 0.5 litres/tonne. We have a lot of hilly fields to deal with and the extra performance really shows through with the FR650. We re able to chop 140 acres per day easily and on a long day we ve managed 168 acres. New Holland s PowerCruise TM monitors actual power requirement and adapts the forward speed to help the FR 650 reach the highest possible work rates regardless of crop conditions. Each farmer wants a different chop length depending on their feeding requirements. The chevron knife design means crop is cut cleanly, quickly and uniformly, which is crucial for me as a contractor. I can t let customers down when they open the clamp to start feeding the silage I have made. Mark has put over 320 hours on the forager since it was delivered at the end of May 2016. Visibility is excellent. When foraging, it s crucial not only to be able to see the crop and the trailer clearly but also to be able to see any obstacles or foreign objects quickly enough to respond and this is easy be it day or night. This is due to the fl agship cab s 360-degree panoramic visibility with curved windows providing a clear view of both the header and spout, regardless of position. Mark particularly likes the new Deluxe air-suspended seat with backrest, lumbar support, seat pan angle and variable shock absorption. I know it sounds a small thing, but the ventilated seat is so comfortable, and when I get off the forager even after a long day I don t feel half as tired.

BB1290 BIG BALER James Hazell James Hazell makes around 12,000 bales a year and is based near Malmesbury in Wiltshire. His business not only bales straw, hay and silage but also hauls and exports to the South West, Wales and Holland. He changes balers every two years and fi ve years ago decided to change bale size from 120cm x 70cm to 120cm x 90cm, which gave him the choice of opting for a New Holland. I ve stayed with New Holland as it is a good, proven, brand and the back-up and dealership service is excellent. Hauliers and export mostly require six-string bales, which is another reason for opting for the BB1290 when James changed balers in 2015. The BB1290 s proven pre-compression chamber technology has been improved by the introduction of SmartFill TM feed fl ow indicators. This system uses a network of sensors positioned at the entrance of the pre-compression chamber that monitors crop fl ow to the chamber to guarantee square-edge bales with uniform density. We make a lot of forage for polo, dressage and eventing stables. This demands a consistent high quality bale, which both the BB1290 and our smaller BB890 deliver. The density of completed bales is constantly monitored by three-side density control, which combines sensor reading from completed bales with continual monitoring of the load on the plunger. The MaxiSweep TM pick-up has been completely redesigned to enhance crop fl ow while at the same time leaving a clean fi eld afterwards. The S shape design maintains smooth crop fl ow at all times regardless of crop conditions, while a system of two contrarotating overshot and undershot augers direct and merge crop fl ow into the path of the rotor or feeder. The plunger stroke rate per minute has increased by 14% and the in-line crop fl ow mean the BB1290 is the highest capacity New Holland baler ever. We ve really noticed the extra capacity as we bale a lot of steep land and the BB1290 copes really well. In order to guarantee up to 20% capacity increase, the BB1290 s gearbox has been signifi cantly strengthened, while the 800mm high-inertia fl ywheel increases energy by up to 48% to compensate for uneven swaths. With the new model James is confi dent that he has gained up to 2km/h in forward speed. The electronic bale length control is also a fantastic feature, according to James. There is no variation in bale length which is crucial for haulage and export as well as handling with our bale chaser, and all this can be set via the IntelliView TM monitor. On good days we can manage 200 acres of hay and 250 acres of straw and there is no doubt that the increased ram stroke/min has really increased our overall capacity. The BB1290 is also fi tted with New Holland s ActiveWeigh TM on-the-go bale weighing technology as well as moisture reader. The weighing system is really good and gives the opportunity to constantly monitor whether our bale weights are even. The moisture meter gives an indication, however we still check with a probe.

CR9.80 COMBINE Iain Green CR9.80 excels in challenging conditions Any large-scale farmer in North-East Scotland knows about tight weather windows. For Morayshire-based mixed arable and livestock farmer Iain Green, who farms 700ha (1750acres) of cereals, this ever-decreasing weather window is an important consideration when choosing a replacement combine. That s why he invested in a CR9.80 with 30ft header ahead of harvest 2014. This is my third rotary New Holland. The reason for choosing a rotary is the output you can achieve with these machines. We achieve up to 50t/hr in spring barley depending on conditions, while in wheat this is more like 70t/hr. What I particularly like about the CR is the straw quality, which is an important factor for us as we bale all our straw for bedding and feed. Dealer back-up is also crucial and our local dealer is very reliable. I also like the robustness of the machine overall, in particular the header. Every New Holland combine we have has been outstanding in laid crops, which is important for us here in the north where a lot of rain can fall in a short amount of time leaving us with a lot of lodging. The CR gives a fantastic grain sample. It s very gentle on the crop when conditions are challenging and there s very little skinning or splitting leaving us with a very clean sample. This is thanks to Twin Rotor TM technology. New Holland invented rotary threshing and separation over forty years ago and has been refi ning it ever since to be able to deal with varying crop conditions just like Iain s. Twin-Pitch rotors are particularly suited to damp conditions while redesigned adjustable rotor vanes reduce the power requirement in high volume straw crops. Dynamic Feed Roll TM technology regulates the crop entering the rotors to improve capacity while serrated blades are kinder on the crop to deliver high quality straw. Meanwhile, the standard Opti-Fan TM system compensates for changing conditions automatically. Simply select the desired fan speed on fl at ground and the system will automatically adjust when going up or downhill which minimises losses and improves grain quality. The Opti-Clean TM system optimises the stroke and throwing angles in the cleaning system, keeping the grain in the air for longer improving cleaning performance by up to 20%. Iain has defi nitely noticed a difference in performance and fuel use thanks to the new ECOBlue TM FPT Cursor 13 SCR engine. The new SCR engine seems torquier and livelier than the previous engine, yet it s better on fuel meaning we can cut long, full days on a tank without any problem, he says. With high max power and a 12,500 litre grain tank the CR9.80 is a high-capacity rotary ideal for our conditions. A large percentage of the rotation is made up of spring barley destined for the distilleries of the north, which demand high levels of quality regardless of the weather.

W170C WHEEL LOADER Duncan Hepburn As more and more biogas projects come online, there will be an increasing demand on contractors and farmers to make high quality silage to keep them fed. And to do that, they will need a machine at the clamp that s able to cope not only with clearing large loads quickly but also packing the clamp down effectively in between. Duncan Hepburn, operations manager at Mid Coul Farms in Inverness-shire, recognised the need for a wheeled loader this year, and took delivery of a W170C ahead of this year s silaging season. The W170C, which weighs 14,292kg, is powered by a 195hp 6.7 litre FTP NEF series engine (as fi tted to the T7 range of tractors) equipped with SCR technology. This engine delivers exceptional power and a reduction in fuel consumption by up to 10% over the previous model. To be honest, it uses about the same fuel as a tractor. The work rate is seriously impressive. We push two or three times what we would with a tractor in just one shunt. It gives us massive capacity back at the pit, says Duncan. All of Mid Coul s clamps are pretty big, explains Duncan. The W170C is fi tted with a 14ft buckrake which makes short work of our 3000 and 4000t clamps. We grow hybrid energy rye for the biogas plant, which can yield up to 50t/ha, so it s crucial that material is dealt with quickly at the clamp without compromising the pack quality and the W170C does just this. Heavy-duty axles with open differentials offer a number of benefi ts. No slippage between the wheels reduces tyre wear by 20-30%, no friction in the differential reduces fuel consumption and fewer moving parts means less downtime for maintenance. A front differential lock, engaged automatically or manually, sends 100% of available torque to the wheel, with grip when required. The W170C also features EcoShift TM to help operators climb steep slopes without downshifting. The lock-up of the torque converter is activated automatically during travelling, meaning less viscous losses, higher effi ciency and 12% more pushing power available from second to fi fth gear to deliver fast acceleration. When braking, the Power Inch progressive transmission declutch feature allows operators to easily approach material on top of the clamp with great precision. It also prevents bouncing due to automatic transmission cut-off. On slopes this also acts as a hill holder, a great feature for safety, The W170C is able to deal with even the dustiest of conditions thanks to its heavy duty cooling box. Instead of radiators overlapping, they are confi gured in a box arrangement, which improves cooling and also makes blowing them out easier. Positioned directly behind the cab, it s far away from the rear of the machine or the ground. Thanks to the SCR after-treatment system, there s no need to stop for parked DPF regeneration or for any regeneration when the operator turns the machine off. Having a wheeled loader has made such a huge difference, we really wouldn t be without one now. In fact, we might even be looking at a second one for next year.
