Installation & Operation Mounting: This product is intended for integration into an information technology equipment rack. Product may be mounted onto a set of keyhole slots (see diagram) located In the Vantage S2 TM and Paramount TM equipment racks. Tool free buttons are positioned on 36.75 in. centers to correspond with keyhole slots in the equipment rack. Vantage S2 TM Alternatively, product may be mounted to a flat surface by use of the end mounting brackets. End mounting bracket are included with this product but are not attached to the unit. Remove the tool free buttons if end mounting brackets are to be used. (see diagrams) Tool Free Button Paramount TM End Mounting Bracket Electrical Connection: When installing this product, it is essential that the distribution circuit supply is protected by a branch circuit protection device that is compatible with the specifications of this product. (See the specification section of this manual.). 12 AWG is the minimum wire size that shall be used for an earth bonding (ground) connection for this product. The output circuits of this product are connected to different phases. The installer must ensure that the equipment powered from this system is compatible with this arrangement. The installation receptacle used for providing power to this product must be installed near the equipment and must be easily accessible. Ammeter Operation: This diagram shows the ammeter display and the RJ 45 connection for remote access. Remote access uses the RS232 communication protocol. The ammeter display will function properly without using the remote access feature. RS232 OUTPUT Ammeter type: True RMS measurement, three (3) digit The ammeter measures load current in this product using Current Transformers (CTs). Load current is measured without directly interfering with the integrity of the power supply circuit. by Wright Line LLC, 2005 4
Installation & Operation Ammeter Operation (cont.): Ammeter display legends and function CIRCUIT Displays the circuit being monitored. Scroll UP / DOWN keys manually select the circuit being monitored. AMPS Displays true RMS current of the measured circuit. Accuracy is +/- 5%. A M Places ammeter display in AUTO mode. The ammeter display automatically scrolls through the applicable circuits. AUTO mode is the default mode. Select to place ammeter in MANUAL mode. In this mode the scroll UP or DOWN buttons may be used as described above. Ammeter channel assignment Product Type 30A 208V 20A 3 Phase & 30A 3 Phase Circuit Ammeter positions 1 Input current 1 3 Phase output current 4 6 Phase input current Ammeter Operation Three Phase 208V: Ammeter positions 1, 2 & 3 read the current in each output circuit. Ammeter positions 4, 5 & 6 read the current in each input phase. The maximum equipment load that can be placed on an output circuit is 13.9A for 30A 3 Phase and 9.2A for 20A 3Phase product. This will ensure that the input load current will not exceed 24A and 16A respectively. Use the pushbutton switch to select the phase being displayed. (See meter diagram) With a three phase circuit, a load of 13.9A on each of the three output circuits will result in an input current of 24A or 9.2A per output circuit for an input current of 16A. Connect equipment to the receptacles of this product such that load is distributed evenly between the three output circuits. As more equipment is plugged in, monitor the load current level of each input phase using the ammeter to avoid exceeding the input current limits. Ammeter Operation Single Phase 208V: Ammeter position 1 is the only available position for a product with single phase input. The total amperage should not exceed 24A to be in compliance with NEC requirements. Ammeter Remote Access: Product is supplied with a RJ45 to 9 pin DIN cable. The ammeter transmits the load current values using a simple protocol when communication is enabled. Commands cannot be sent to the ammeter. Connection to a console port switch which supports VT100 code is possible. The ammeter when connected will continually transmit the load current at 6.4 second intervals for an 8 CT system (0.8 seconds per CT) to the terminal emulator until disconnected. by Wright Line LLC, 2005 5
