News Release KIA CANADA PRESENTS All-NEW 2014 FORTE KOUP AND FORTE5 - The all-new Forte Koup and Forte5 are the most powerful Fortes offered yet - Forte Koup and Forte5 competed the second generation Forte lineup Date March 26 th, 2014 Huntington Beach, March 26, 2014 Today Canadian media were presented in Huntington Beach the all-new 2014 Forte Koup and Forte5. The all-new Koup and Forte5 are the completion of a redesigned Forte lineup for 2014 and features an available powerful 1.6-liter gasoline direct injected turbo engine a first for the Forte nameplate. Both variants boast European-inspired design and SX trims have performance to match with 201 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. The Forte Koup is offered in two trim levels, EX and SX, while its hatchback sibling offers LX, EX and SX trim levels. Two engine and transmission choices are offered. LX and EX trims comes equipped with a 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder engine, and the more spirited SX comes standard with the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission as well as an available 6-speed automatic can be mated to either engine option. Trims and Features The all-new Forte Koup and Forte5 offer an impressive array of amenities and technology. The entry LX level Forte5 comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth 2 wireless technology, SiriusXM Satellite Radio3, heated front seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with steering wheel mounted cruise control, power windows as well as front fog lights. Entry level Koup EX and mid trim Forte5 EX add 17-inch alloy wheels, UVO infotainment with rear camera display1, Dot-matrix type LCD cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel, FlexSteer, auto folding outside mirrors and LED front positioning headlights. SX trims upgrade to 18-inch alloy wheels, dual chrome exhaust tips, and LED tail lights. To complement the powertrain upgrade, SX trims also feature an aggressive front fascia with larger bumper and grille openings, black gloss grille inserts and outside mirrors, larger front
brakes, alloy sport pedals, Smart key and LED taillight technology. The top level SX Luxury trims further the Koup and Forte5 offering with Xenon HID headlights, heated front and rear leather seats, ventilated driver`s seat, power driver`s seat with memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, sunroof and heated steering wheel. Design The Forte Koup and Forte5`s sporty profiles, swooping rooflines, and large 18-inch alloy wheels give them a planted and aggressive stance that showcases Kia s continued performance as a design leader. Both variants offer swept headlights stretch deep into the front fenders, and the raked windshield and broad shoulders give the front end a sleek, sporty appearance. LED front positioning lights and available rear LED light bar taillights complete their sporty and upscale attitude. A rear valance with twin chrome exhaust tips maintains the Forte SX`s athletic character. Powertrains Utilizing a 1.6-liter GDI turbocharged four-cylinder engine, the SX trims seamlessly transfers power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The GDI powerplant produces 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,750-4,500 rpm. The advanced powertrain features double overhead cams with dual continuously variable valve timing. The Forte Koup EX and Forte5 LX and EX trims come equipped with a 2.0-liter GDI powerplant producing 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. During durability testing, the engines are run 300 continuous hours at redline under full load then for an additional 20 hours at 10 percent above redline under full load.
