INTRODUCTION Rotech SCP series Pumps close coupled self-priming centrifugal pumps can be mounted with NEMA C face electric motor frames ( 5TC, 3TC, 5TC etc.), IEC electric motors and Hydraulic Motors while Rotech RFP series Pumps are self-priming centrifugal frame mounted or Base mounted Pumps directly couple with coupling or V belt pulley drive wither with motor or engine. SCP/SFP series are capable to lift liquid up to 5 ft form the liquid level below ground. However, for the best performance of pump, the pump should be installed less than 5 above the liquid level. The flapper valve will maintain a full column liquid in suction pipe line. Standard features include stainless steel drive sleeve, stainless steel fasteners, renewable wear plate, and a semi-open dynamically balanced impeller. Options include double grease-lubricated seals, stainless steel impeller and seals for all types of abrasive and / or corrosive services. The ROTECH series of pumps are commonly used in water, waste water, Industrial, transfer pump application, wash down, OEM, Agricultural, Fertilizer and Pesticide Pumps, Applicators & Sprayers,, Bulk Transfer Pumps and much more.
RECEIPT AND STORAGE RECEIVING AND HANDLING OF PUMP Immediately after receipt of pump, please check following: Check Name plate details on pump. Please check name plate details on which Pump Model number, Size of pump, Flow, Head, Serial number, HP of Motor, RPM and compared with Purchase order just to make sure you have received right pump against order to avoid any issue. Check pump crate and pump & other equipment is in good condition and did not damage in transportation. If there is any damage, immediately report to shipper Rotech Distributor or your supplier. Use proper procedure unloading pump and equipment from truck Please follow proper handling procedure of the pump as shown in figure below: STORING OF THE PUMP RECEIVING AND HANDLING OF PUMP Store pump in a cool and dry area free from heat, dirt. Do not remove packing if not necessary. Rotate pump shaft at least once a week to maintain protective film of oil or grease on bearings. If you intend to store for long term, use proper storage treatment for safegaurd of pumps.
ROTECH SELF-PRIMING CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS INSTALLATION LOCATION: For optimum performance, place pump as close to liquid source as possible to reduce suction lift to a minimum. For best results, pump should be installed not more than 5 feet above the liquid supply. Set the unit on solid footing and as nearly level as possible. FOUNDATION: It is recommended that the foundation should be rigid strong and five times the total mass of pump set. PIPING: Pipe or hose of the same size as flanges provided should be used. Reinforced rubber suction hose is recommended because it provides greater flexibility and prevents collapsing due to vacuum in the suction line when pump is in operation. Suction line should be as short as possible and have as few elbows or bends as possible to keep friction loss at a minimum. Use pipe dope on all connections and make certain that all fittings are tight, particularly on the suction line where an air leak can prevent priming or reduce pump capacity. CLEAN-OUT COVER AAR-INSTALL HORIZONTALLY LONG RADIUS ELBOW SUPPORT BLEED LINE DIA MIN EXTENDED MIN BELOW MIN LIQUID LEVEL OPERATION The ROTECH pump is a self-priming centrifugal pump and only requires priming prior to its initial start. The pump will retain sufficient liquid for self-priming thereafter. Provision for a priming plug can be made by using a close nipple and tee on the discharge opening. A pipe plug installed in the top opening of the tee is easily removed when necessary to prime pump. Prime pump by filling pump housing with liquid. If pump fails to prime or stops pumping, check for the following possible causes:. No liquid in the pump housing.. Air leak in the suction line due to loose connections or pin holes in the hose. 3. Collapsed suction line or clogged strainer.. Seal worn and leaking air. 5. Worn impeller - too much clearance between impeller and wear plate. Pump not running fast enough. 7. Suction lift is too high.. Trying to prime against too high a discharge head. MAINTENANCE The ROTECH pump is of simple construction with only one moving part. The impeller on the ROTECH 50 & 00 is threaded to a stainless steel drive sleeve. The impeller on the ROTECH 300 has a stainless steel cover pressed on. The sleeve slips over the drive shaft and is locked to use a standard drive shaft - no special tapers or threads. It s easy to adjust or remove the impeller. ROTECH pumps are available with a self-lubricated shaft seal. The self-lubricated seal is lubricated by the liquid in the pump. Operating the pump dry will seriously damage the seal. If the pump is being operated at very low freezing temperature the pump should be made empty by drawing liquid in pump housing. Draining is provided for by a drain plug located at the base of the pump housing. SUPPORT 3
SCP CLOSE COUPLED PUMP DISASSEMBLY OF PUMP FROM DRIVE (MOTOR OR ENGINE) Disconnect power supply to prevent accident. Disconnect lines and drain pump housing. REMOVING PUMP HOUSING / VOLUTE Remove bolts and nuts holding pump housing to mounting base if it is fastened. Remove nuts and washers holding pump housing to the adaptor. Loosen the housing and remove carefully to prevent tearing gaskets. REMOVING IMPELLER Remove impeller clamp nuts and clamp to unlock impeller drive sleeve from drive shaft. Use two large screwdrivers diagonally across from each other between adaptor and end of drive sleeve. Try the sleeve off the drive shaft. I N S P E C T I O N & R E P L A C E M E N T O F MECHANICAL SEAL Before removing the mechanical seal from the impeller, inspect the matting faces of Rotary Seal. If matting faces are damaged or worn replace it with a new one. Inspect the stationary seal seat in seal housing. If there are no scratches or crack on surface, it is recommended to use new stationary seat. To replace stationary seat, remove adaptor by removing four nuts and washers. Place adaptor on flat surface, with impeller side down. Press out stationary seal seat by using a screw driver or similar tool. ASSEMBLY OF PUMP WITH DRIVE The care should be taken into consideration while assembly of impeller and seal to the drive shaft. The assembly should take place as soon as the rotary seal installed on impeller sleeve to avoid disruption of working height of mechanical seal. IMPELLER ASSEMBLY The Motor key will not be used to mount impeller on shaft but in built clamp key will be used to hold impeller on shaft with bolts and nuts. Before tightening clamp adjust clearance between back face of impeller and adaptor allowing from 0.05 to 0.00 clearance. Tighten impeller clamp to lock impeller onto drive shaft. This automatically sets face clearance of impeller when housing is mounted. RE ASSEMBLY OF PUMP HOUSING Inspect gasket of pump housing and if it is damaged replace new on the adaptor. Replace two lockwashers and nuts on studs diagonally across from each other and tighten. Turn drive shaft over slowly by hand and listen at outlet opening on housing for any rubbing of impeller on the housing or wear plate. The clearance between the impeller and wear plate can be checked with a feeler gauge. Normal clearance is 0.05 to 0.05. If clearance exceeds readjust impeller. If the impeller rubs use an additional gasket to spacer impeller. After clearance has been established, replace lockwashers and nuts on remaining studs and tighten. If capscrews and nuts are used to hold housing to mounting base, replace these and tighten. TO REMOVE WEAR PLATE After pump housing has been removed from the adaptor, inspect the wear plate. If wear plate is badly worn, it should be replaced. To remove wear plate, loosen and remove acorn nuts and gaskets on the outside of the pump housing. SFP FRAME MOUNTED PUMP: DISASSEMBLY OF SFP SERIES PUMP: Check exploded view drawing and disassembly pattern on parts. Keep all necessary parts for reassembly of pump carefully. Disconnect power supply from drive & remove the pump end from the driver. Remove and replace the flapper assembly and discharge gasket. Tighten the inlet and discharge flange fasteners to ft-lbs.
Remove bolts & nuts from the adaptor and disassemble the rotating assembly form the housing. Inspect the wear plate for abrasive wear and replace if necessary using new screws, gaskets and acorn nuts. Inspect Rotary seal mounted on impeller sleeve. Remove the stationary seal seats from the adaptors and discard. Impellers are threaded onto a drive sleeve & fastened with a jam nut. Inspect the impeller for abrasive wear at the edges of the machined surfaces. If they are not well defined the impeller should be replaced. REASSEMBLLY OF PUMP: Lubricate the stationary seal seat cup seat or o-rings & seal housing bore. Install new stationary seats into the seal housing / adaptors with lapped face stays up. Use proper tool to secure stationary seat into housing. Do not touch surface of lapped faces, it may get damaged. If there is dirt or oil traces on lapped faces, clean with rubbing alcohol to make it dry. Place the impeller inside the pump housing. Install the housing gasket over the housing studs/ bolts & position it on the housing gasket face. Using lubricant, lubricate the impeller sleeve and the seal rotary bellows inner diameters. Install rotary seal over the sleeve to make contact with the spring. Place housing gasket over the studs and install the driver adaptor onto the pump assembly to compress the seal spring. Tighten all nuts with lockwashers to ft-lbs. with equal pattern. Slide the drive sleeve clamp assembly on the sleeve. Pull the clamp assembly and sleeve back out of the pump and slide a shim inside the pump discharge between the wear plate and impeller vanes. Use proper thickness of Shim. The pump can now be installed to the driver. 5
