Gins Chain Binder Type Transformer Gin A versatile tool for hoisting distribution transformers and apparatus up the structure. Available with a standard base or 5 extended base. The standard base unit is for mounting on clear pole sections and the 5 extended base model allows mounting to bridge up to 4 x 5 crossarms. Gins are not intended for applications involving side pull on the hoist line, or with the lift load in a tagged out position. Strap-Type Transformer Gin Similar to the chain binder type transormer gin, but with a strap-type ratchet-action mounting mechanism. The 2 -wide polyester strap comes in 44 length to fit most structures. The strap also has a 10,000-lb. rated tensile strength. Wide handle opening on rapid-action ratchet permits easy operation, even with rubber gloves and leather protectors. Conductor Support Equipment The Epoxiglas extension arm is designed for use on voltages up to and including 15kV where reconduction or insulator replacement is necessary. The extension arm is suspended under the crossarm by brackets to enable the conductor to be removed from the original crossarm and placed in the wireholder mounted on the Epoxiglas extension arm. The corner restraint bracket tool helps control each phase conductor while insulators are changed. It also acts as a load restraint for the hoist to pull the conductor back in for reconnection to the insulator string.
