INTRODUCTION The information contained within this manual has been designed for use by Bespoke approved engineers who have received the appropriate product training in the following categories, 1. Product installation. 2. Testing and commissioning. lt is also assumed that the person using this manual will have the basic knowledge and skills required in both the mechanical and electrical aspects to apply consideration and awareness for the safety of themselves and others involving their work. The contents of this manual are in the recommended order of placement, which forms the full installation, and commissioning of this standard model. 2

RAIL PREPARATION Thread 2-core cable through lower tube of each section of rail, working from top to bottom. Ensure a minimum of 150mm of cable at each end. 5

RAIL FIXING Assemble rail joints together working from bottom to top of stairs. Note: Offer top tubes first. Apply grease to male part of joint. Pins should be flush with stair side of rail. Fit and tighten joint clamps Using the installation drawing details: Check top and bottom rail heights Check rail angles Check lower and upper rails are vertically in line. Adjust leg heights as required. Ensure rail to wall measurements match the Installation drawing. 6

RAIL FIXING Secure plates to the staircase by the following method: Loosen grub screws on leg collar Fix foot-plate with 3 screws (Figure 4) Tighten screw to leg. Repeat for each leg. The following fixings are recommended: Timber Staircase - 3 x 50mm screws. Concrete Staircase -3 x 50mm screws and 3 x rawlplugs. Other Staircases - Intallation requirements must be assessed during Survey. 7

RAIL FIXING Finally ensure all rail dimensions are in accordance with the rail installation drawing. Carry out any final adjustment to the bases as required using the 3 x Grub Screws then tighten once the rail position is correct. 8

MOUNTING THE CHARGER Find a suitable power supply as close as possible to either the top or bottom of the stairs. Mount the charger in a suitable position near the power supply using the screws supplied. Please ensure the charger is mounted level and secure. Charging Unit Power Supply Leave sufficient length on the power output to enable easy connection to the rail charge points. Do not connect or switch on the power supply until the rail charge points have been connected. (See Page 18) Power Output Cable 9

CARRIAGE PREPARATION Fig 1 Fig 2 Loading strap Loading Bar Once the carriage is removed from the box insert the long loading bar into the top skate.(fig 1) Insert the small cone into the bottom rail tube. Align and insert the top loading bar with the top tube of the installed rail while holding the loading strap and carefully locate the bottom skate onto the small cone in the bottom tube. (Fig 2) Once the carriage is securly located on rail it is safe to let go of the loading strap. Small cone 11

CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY Fig 1 INSTALLING THE BATTERIES Remove the front panel by removing the 4 screws. The battery housing is easily accessible behind the front panel. Install the batteries as shown in Fig 1. Replace the front panel. ATTACHING THE TEMPORARY REMOTE Locate the PCB cable on the rear of the carriage and carefully connect the temporary remote control to enable the carriage to be moved down the rail.* + *(Optional extra) - + - FUSE 12

CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY PROGRAM THE TEMPORARY REMOTE On the main board, hold down buttons 1 & 2, switch on the main switch. Keep 1 & 2 pressed down and hold for 5 seconds. The temporary remote in now ready for use. 13

CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY (Fig 1) MOVE THE CARRIAGE DOWN THE RAIL Using the temporary remote move the carriage down the rail to a position that is accessible. This will enable the seat and armrest component to be easily assembled. Manual Winding Handle (Fig 2) Switch off the carriage by the main switch and disconnect the teporary remote. The seat and armrest components are ready to be assembled. *Alternatively, this procedure can be performed using the manual winding handle. Insert the winding handle into the hole in the side panel and locate manual winding the nut on the motor. Turn the handle to slowly move the carriage in the required direction. (Fig 2) 14

CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY Fig 1 CONNECT THE SEAT BASE WITH ARMS TO THE CARRIAGE Feed the joystick cable through the hole at the rear of the carriage (as illustrated in figure 1) and pass throughto the front of the carriage. Fig 2 Connect the joystick connector cable to the PCB cable (as shown in fugure 2). Be careful when connecting the two components that the cable is free to move as the seat swivels. U D SU TO 15

CARRIAGE ASSEMBLY Fig 1 INSTALLING THE SEAT Swivel the seat mount outwards to access screw holes (see Fig 1) Fig 2 Mount the seat. Place the bolts from underneath the seat mount using 2x M8x30 & 2xM8x35, ensuring the correct bolts are used (use Locktight threathlocker). (see Fig 2) 2x M8x30 2x M8x35 17

INSTALL RAIL CHARGE POINTS Place the charging terminals at the top and bottom of the rail and connect to the 2 core cable as shown opposite. - + Install the final end stop brackets at the top and bottom of the rail, then turn on the charger. + + - - - +! ATTENTION When placing the final end stops and charging points please ensure the following points; 1. The lower skate of the carriage does not touch the floor before engaging with the final end stop. This could result in damage to the skate mechanism. 2. When the charging terminals are engaged make sure there is ONLY 5mm- 10mm gap between the final end stop and the lower skate. 18

CALIBRATE THE STAIRLIFT Open the access panel located on the right side panel of the stairlift to view the main board. Move dipswitch 2 to OFF for a left handed installation, leave OFF for a right handed installation BEFORE switching on the lift; then press and hold microswitch 1 and turn on the unit. The carriage assembly is now complete. 19

PROGRAMMING THE STAIRLIFT Fig 1 RE-CALIBRATE THE STAIRLIFT AS SHOWN ON PAGE 14 STOP Move the stairlift to its first terminal (Downstairs) Then stop the stairlift (Fig 1) the stairlift will automatically stop on the charge terminal if the terminal is powered. If an optional intermediate charge point is installed move the stairlift up to the charge point then stop. (Fig 2) Fig 2 STOP stop STOP STOP *Optional 20

PROGRAMMING THE STAIRLIFT STOP Finally move the stairlift upstairs to final charging terminal stop Follow these steps when the stairlift is at its final charging terminal; Switch off the stairlift. Wait 10 seconds. Switch the stairlift on Wait 5 seconds. The stairlift is now ready to use. OFF 10 SEC ON 5 SEC READY 21

PROGRAM THE REMOTES 1 ON HOLD N O P 1 2 3 LED The steps below must be carefully followed to ensure the remotes controls are correctly programmed to the stairlift. 1 - Turn on the lift Hold microswitch 3 until LED flashes 2 - Press button on the remote until the LED flashes. 2 3 N O P 1 2 3 3 - Calibrate further remotes as described below; Press microswitch 3 once; Press a button on the remote until LED Flashes. 22

MANUAL OVERRIDE Manually insert the winding handle into the hole located on the left side of the carriage and locate the winding mechanism. Engage the winding mechanism and manually turn the handle. To release the overspeed guvernor (OSG) wind the stairlift in the upwards direction to release the OSG arm. 23

RESET THE OSG Run the lift upwards with the manual override, the OSG should come loose from the tube then. Make sure that the OSG is in neutral position again. Push the first and second reset buttons and turn the lift on. REPROGRAM THE LIFT. N O P 1 2 3 24

DEMONSTRATION AND HANDOVER DEMONSTRATION EXPLANATION USER SAFETY USER BOOKLET PAPERWORK COMPLETION 1) Ask user to stand clear of the stairlift making sure that they have a clear view of the lift. 2) Demonstrate the operation of the seat and footrest (manual or powered if fitted); advise the user to stand clear of the footrest to avoid the footrest com ing into Contact with the users legs. 3) Explain the L.E.D. functions on the chair arm clearly. 4) Explain the operations and positions of all the on/off switches. Explain that the Key switch should always be turned off before getting in/out of the chair. 5) Explain the operation and position of the directional controls on the chair. 6) Explain that if constant pressure is released from directional controls the lift will stop, and there is approximately a three second delay before the stairlift will restart. 7) Explain the swivel function (manual or powered, if fitted) and also that the lift will stop automatically at the top and bottom of the rail. Explain manual override of a powered swivel if fitted. Demonstrate and explain the manual override function should only be used if a fault develops with the power functions, and when used, should only swivel in the up direction as a safety measure. On N0 occasion should the manual override function allow the user to swivel the chair in the down direction. 8) Ask the user to sit comfortably on the seat and explain the use of the seatbelt (the seatbelt should always by used). Ensure the user does not extend their arm beyond the seat back. 9) Ask the user to operate the stairlift to the top of the stairs. Go up first so as not to block your own access. 10) Ensure that a swivel operation is carried out, and the customer alights from the lift. Ensure the user has turned off the chair Key switch. 11) Ask the user to complete a downward journey. 12) If the stairlift has a hinge, then this option will have to be fully explained at this point, all controls, interlocks, safety features, and general operation. 13) Once the user is clear on the operation of the lift show the operation and position of all safety edges. 14) Ensure that all of your instructions have been clearly understood. 15) Invite the user to sit down comfortably while you explain the user handbook. Ensure that the Service details are pointed out. 16) Ask the user to read and sign the handover sheet. Explain that the handover sheet is also a receipt for any payment collected. 27
