1 Introduction: 1.1 General Overview: Originally constructed by Access Industries, we have made further fabrications to this device to suit the needs of your home. This lift is easy to operate and is known as the Cadillac of Stairway Lifts. Even so, proper operation must be followed and maintenance is required every so often. Please read and adhere to these instructions in this operator s manual to avoid unnecessary problems and less frequent maintenance. Powered by a standard 120v household socket, these two excel stairway lift systems can be accessed from the top and bottom of the stairs from up/down switch boxes. Also included in the system is another up/down switch box on the bottom of the chair. To move the stairway lift up the stairs, simply press and hold the switch in 14

the up direction and similarly use the down switch to move the stairway lift downward. Continuous power is supplied to this device and can be accessed at all times that the stairway lift is plugged into the wall outlet. A downside to this design is in the case of a power outage, the stairway lift is no longer functional and therefore it is no longer accessible. The footrest can be folded, and must be in the down position when it is in use. A detector is in the footrest that will automatically stop the lift if there is an obstruction in the way. 1.2 Operating Instructions To move the stairway lift up the stairs, simply flick the switch in the up direction and similarly use the down switch to move the stairway lift downward. To use the stairway lift, sit securely in the seat with the safety belt fastened. Place both feet on the footrest for the duration of the ascent or descent. When you have reached the top of the stairs and have come to a complete stop lift the lever on the bottom of the right armrest and pivot the seat 90 o into the locked position. Unfasten the safety belt and exit the lift. 15

2 Maintenance Inspections should be done regularly to asses if an issue will arise. Please attempt to make the following inspections once a month to ensure proper use and functionality of this device. Inspect trailing cable for wear. Tighten all fasten anchors. Verify the functionality of the footrest sensor Ensure that the track is thoroughly lubricated. For legal purposes within the state of Connecticut any maintenance that must be done to the stairway lift must be completed by a licensed professional within a domestic household. For this reason, if there are any issue with the your Excel 16

stairway lift, please contact your installer (Pelton s Home Healthcare) at there company phone (860) 761-0008 ext(232) Matt will answer any question you have and will schedule any maintenance that must be done to the stairway lift in case of an issue. Do not attempt to fix the problem yourself. This is both against the law, and can possibly do further damage to your Stairway lift system. Before calling for maintenance, there are a few steps you can take in order to troubleshoot your issue. Look to make sure no obstacles are interrupting the path of the footrest or the track. Ensure that the seat is locked in place after swiveling. After making these inspections and the stairway lift still does not function please contact your installer to further asses the issue. 3 Technical Description Rated Load: 300 pounds (135 kg) Speed: 18-25 fpm (.09 -.13 ms) Travel: 32' max.
