What Is Solar Power Solar panel systems generate clean electricity using the sun's light. Solar energy is a proven technology that will help reduce your energy bills and your impact on our environment. Page 5
How does it work? Systems includes solar panels (photovoltaic cells) installed on a north, north east or north west facing roof, an inverter, DC switch, circuit breakers and cable. There is also a meter change over required. 1. Solar photovoltaic panels produce DC power. 2. Your inverter converts the solar DC power to AC power, suitable for household needs. 3. House hold uses solar energy as it is generated. 4. Your meter measures your electricity consumption and excess solar power which feeds back to the grid. 5. Normal consumption is reduced and credits are paid for excess power. Page 6
Why is it a good time to go Solar? Solar Credits Scheme Figures based on Origin's current market rate for RECs as at 20/09/2010. REC price subject to change. Eg: 1.5 kw Solar Electricity system under the Solar Credit Scheme Example Location REC Credit* Total Credit Zone 3 31 RECs x 5 x $40 = $6,200 $6,200 Systems installed after 30 th June 2011 will receive 4 x RECs Unlike the previous rebate arrangement the solar credit scheme is not means tested, and is available to businesses as well as households and community groups. Feed-in tariffs (FITs) reimburse you for any power your solar electricity system feeds back into the grid. Current tariff rate for the scheme is 44 cents per kwh. Origin pays an extra 6c = 50c Feed in energy is paid at the end of each billing period. Customers will receive cheque if their bill is in credit after 12 months, or can request cheque for any quarterly credits. The less power used during the day, the more excess power feeds to the grid and the more money you save. Page 8
Residential Example Approximate daily generation of a 1.5 kw system CEC guide 6.3kWh s (Brisbane) 50% used in house 3.15kwh x 21c = 66c 50% fed to grid 3.15kwh x 50c = $1.58 =$2.23 per day Page 9 Per Annum = $816 System cost $2,990 Payback period 3.6 years
Current 1.5kW Origin1500 1.5kW A minimum of 1500 watts of solar panels and includes a minimum 1.5kW inverter. $2990 or 5% upfront deposit of $150 plus 12 monthly repayments of $236.66 by credit or debit card Page 10
Business example Approximate daily generation of a 10kW system CEC guide 42kWh s (Brisbane) 50% used in premises 21kwh x 21c = 4.41c 50% fed to grid 21kwh x 50c = $10.50 =$14.91 per day Page 11 Per Annum = $5,442 System cost $42,000 Payback period 7.7 years
Individual household Conditions Under the State Government by Laws no Body Corporate can stop a PV installation, however it can ask to check the credentials of the supplier/installer and ensure they have all the right qualifications and accreditations. Must have Individual electricity meters that are billed directly by a retailer. Each unit holder will need to have enough individually held roof space to accommodate the PV system. Group buy/referral schemes may be available! Page 12
Body Corporate common area Conditions Individual electricity meters that is in the name of Body Corporate billed directly by a retailer. Account must consume less than 100 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity a year (the average household uses approximately 7.9MWh a year). Must have solar PV systems with a capacity of up to 10kW for single phase power and 30kW for three-phase power. Interested parties should contact Origin Solar to speak to one of our QLD Solar sales consultants. Group buy/referral schemes may be available! Page 13

Frames Meets Australian standards 10 year Guarantee For flat roofs add $500 to 1.5kW for tilt frames to payment plan Page 16
Warranties All panels have 25yr output Warranty 10 years at 90% of nominal output Next 15 years at 80% of nominal output Inverter minimum 5 years. 12 months installation guarantee Origin will honour all warranties Page 17
Installation Details Installation will be installed by a Renewable Energy (RE) Industry Accredited Installer. Roof area should have suitable north, north east or north-west aspect. Installations on east or west facing roofs may result in slightly reduced outputs. 10m2 roof area required per 1kW of the system. Installers will Test/commission solar system onsite to manufacturer s specifications and instruct basic operation of the inverter. Inspection and relevant electrical certification. Origin will notify your distributor (Energex) who will install your new meter free of charge. Page 18
