Liquid Propane Injection Fuel System
Introduction All petrol powered GREAT WALL vehicles can be fitted with optional Liquid Propane Injection Fuel System (LPi), which uses and keeps the full 5 year factory warranty of the vehicle. With this latest technology the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is injected in liquid phase in the manifold of the engine, which allows for precise injection of the autogas which leads to better fuel economy. The cooling effect of the expanding liquid autogas in the manifold results in improved saturation of the cylinder and improved power of the engine.
Main Advantages Reduced fuel costs by up to 40%. Environment friendly with 10-15% lower CO2 emissions. No power loss. Maintenance free. Not sensitive for autogas mixture or external factors such as temperature, cold, humidity or height. No changes in the cooling system needed. Complies with EC 67 R01 and EC R115 regulations. Specifically tailored for Great Wall vehicles.

Technology The LPi system works on the same principle as the petrol fuel injection systems. The LPi system consists of a fuel tank with internal pump and valving, which delivers the fuel to the sensored pressure regulator at a pressure of 5 bar. The pressure regulator corrects and controls the pressure at the required level and features an electo-magnetic valve which on engagement switches the vehicle driving fuel from petrol to LPG. The LPG fuel then reaches the injectors where the right and precise amount of fuel is injected at the manifold. The excess fuel is returned to the LPG fuel tank via a dedicated second fuel line situated closely to the gasoline fuel line of the vehicle. The LPi injectors are being controlled by a dedicated LPi Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The control signal dedicated for the gasoline fuel injectors by the vehicle s ECU is being transformed by the LPi ECU, and used for the LPi system injectors. This way all signals for engine management and diagnostics remain unchanged.

Sustainability Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is the most commonly used alternative fuel for automotive transport in the World. LPG powers more than 10 million vehicles in 54 countries throughout the World and offers direct and straightforward way of keeping the air cleaner, especially in city traffic. As for the greenhouse gasses, it is scientifically proven that LPG burns with 50% fewer carbon monoxide, 40% less hydrocarbons, 35% fewer nitrogen oxides and 50% fewer ozone-forming substances compared to gasoline. Thus LPG fuel plays an important part in reducing the Earth s Greenhouse Effect. LPG fuel also burns with 10-15% fewer carbon dioxide than gasoline.
