Since the Merla brand was first registered in 1937, products by the Merla Tool ompany were rugged, reliable, and manufactured to the highest quality standards possible. Merla valves (commonly called chokes ) that are offered on this website, are original Merla designs, with decades of proven field history and design improvement.merla valves are known worldwide for reliability, sound engineering, and great service. The product line consists of these familiar offerings: FV Series Stem and seat type Flow ontrol Valves are excellent for controlling gas injection in gas lift manifolds, small water flood projects or any similar type applications. V Series Large stem and seat type djustable hoke Valves are for use as a wellhead production choke or in water or gas injection and thermal recovery applications. Ported age trims combat, cavitation, erosion and noise where mono and multiphase high flow rates and differentials are encountered. Rotary Electric ctuator Series Electrically driven rotary motors that are directly coupled to FV. These actuators controlled by digital pulse duration or analog signals transmitted from a remote location will provide precise control of the flow. MV 60 Series MV-60 valves can be used for snap-open or throttling service. Motor valve used as a pressure regulator, dump valve and time cycle control. They make effective well-head control units, constant- rate controllers and differential pressure controllers. In addition, they can be used in lowrate, low-pressure gas and water injection. Positive Inline hoke This unique inline design characteristic permits bidirectional flow. The positive inline choke incorporates a fixed bean design that allows the bean to be easily replaced without removing the valve body from the flow line. FV SERIES FV series flow control valves are manually adjusted valves designed to provide repeatable settings. FV-series valve also available in hightemperature configuration. FV Flow ontrol Valve Inline-Threaded FV Series valves are available in 1 in. and 2 in. [25.4and 50.8mm] body sizes and a wide range trim configurations. pplications These valves feature a valve adjusting th handle that is calibrated in 64 of an inch increments for accurate setting. The valve stem packing gland adapter is equipped with Teflon packing for a positive seal and requires minimum maintenance. Threaded and buttweld connections are rated for 5000 psi enefits working pressure [34,475 kpa] and socketweld connections are rated for 3600 psi [24,822 kpa] working pressure. Flanged end connections ranging from 1 in. to 3 in. are also available. FV Series valves are designed to operate in any installation position and Features resist the effects of vibration on the selected setting. Their construction allows easy inspection or replacement of internal components without removing valve body from line. Type 316 & 410 stainless steel bodies, stainless steel handles and stainless steel valve setting indicator rings are available for corrosive service. Valve trim and seats are available in stainless steel, tungsten carbide materials or other coatings as required. The valve stem and seat sizes are available in 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2,3/4, &1 in. [3.17, 6.35, 9.52, 12.7, 19.05, 25.4mm] FVT high- temperature valves are designed for steam injection or other high-temperature gas or liquid service. Rated for 3500-psi [24.133-kPa] working pressure at 700 F [371 ], these 2 in [50.8mm] angle body valves feature 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, or 1in. [3.17, 6.35, 9.52, 12.7, 19.05, 25.4 mm] stainless steel and/or tungsten carbide trim and high-temperature packing. Maximum working pressures to 5000 psi [34,475 kpa] are standard on the V-12 series valves. n easily read indicator ring, calibrated in sixty - fourths of an inch, provides accurate flow control, and a spring-loaded Teflon packing design forms a bubble- tight stem seal. The valve and seat can be removed by hand, without special tools and without removal of the valve body from the line, by simply removing the bonnet. V-12 seriesvalves feature a 3-in. [76.2-mm] maximum port size and a semibalanced stem design to reduce the torque required to open the valve when high pressure differentials exist. Special Trim Designs Ported cage and multiple sleeve designs that will provide protection from deterioration caused by cavitation and erosion are available for V- 12 valves. avitation results from the instantaneous formation of gas bubbles in a fluid. The bubbles are caused by an increase in the fluid velocity at a flow restriction. The increase in fluid velocity is followed by a sudden decrease in fluid pressure to below the vapor pressure of the fluid after the restriction. s the flow continues downstream of the restriction, the pressure recovers and causes the gas bubbles to implode. Erosion damage is caused by particulates or dense fluids flowing at high velocity and impinging on small surface areas. The dissipation of kinetic energy at the trim of most plug and seat, or eclipsing-type choke valves, results in erosion damage. Special trim designs are available in the following configurations. MV-60 Motor Valves Technical & Maintenance Manual Introduction MV-60 valves can be used for snap-open or throttling service. MV-60 valves can also be used for high pressure regulator, dump valve and time cycle control. They make effective well-head control units, constant- rate controllers and differential pressure controllers. In addition, they can be used in low- rate, low-pressure gas and water injection. PRESSURE LOSING (P) PRESSURE OPENING (PO) Features The MV-60 valve is rated to 4,000 psi (27.5 MPa) Valves are available in 1 inch and 2 inch sizes. Valves are available in angled and through configurations. Valves are available with thread, welded, or flanged connections. Trim is stainless steel (standard) with optional tungsten-carbide trim available. Trims are available in 1/4 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch sizes. Multiple valve sizes, configurations and materials make the valve economical for numerous applications. Valve parts and seat can be replaced without removal from the line, ensuring economical service and minimal downtime.
