Installing Elevator Mount Unit (EMU) NOTE: The following procedure differs slightly between 9x50 and 9x60/9x70 series combines. All 9x50 series combines have factory cutouts on the clean grain elevator to accommodate the EMU. 9x60 and 9x70 series models do not have factory cutouts. When a procedure is specific to one series or another, it will be noted. Required Parts: Part Number: (1) Elevator mount unit (EMU) 4000252 (6) Carriage bolt 1/4 x 5/8 in. 2002021-25062 (6) Hex serrated flange nut 1/4 in. 2002225 Additional required parts for 9x60 & 9x70 models: (1) Cutout template 4000358 (1) Marking pen 2002813 (1) Punch 2001003-41 (1) Drill 9/32 in. 2001000-28 (1) Square file 5/16 in. 2001006 (1) File handle 2001019 NOTE: The EMU Installation is split into (2) sections. The first section details how to install an OEM style EMU that has been designed specifically for these models. The second section details how to install a universal style EMU. If transferring a universal style EMU from another combine, skip to page 30. NOTE: If factory-installed yield/moisture components have been removed from machine, pay special attention to Operational Checkout section of this set of installation instructions. 1. Raise side shield on right side of combine to access clean grain elevator. NOTE: Steps 2 thru 7 are specific to 9x60 and 9x70 series only. For a 9x50 series installation, skip to step 8. 2. Secure EMU template to right side of clean grain elevator. Lay bent portion of template flat against back of elevator. Bottom of template should be 18-5 / 8 in. from top of elevator boot as shown in Figure 23. NOTE: EMU template is modeled after factory holes of 9x50 series models. When holes are cut, they will be identical to the factory holes of a 9x50 series elevator. PN: 2005802 January 2014 Rev N 25

Ag Leader Technology Figure 23. Placement of EMU template on elevator (9x60 & 9x70 series only) 3. Mark holes and cutouts using provided marking pen as shown in Figure 24. CAUTION: Center divider of elevator is 5-1/4 in. from back edge of clean grain elevator. Right edge of upper (inlet) hole will be very close to center divider. Be careful to stay inside marked lines when cutting holes. Figure 24. Holes to be cut (9x60 & 9x70 series only) 4. Punch and drill (8) mounting holes using provided punch and 9/32 in. drill. 5. Cut out (2) large inlet/outlet holes using a plasma cutter, metal saw or cutting disk. 26 January 2014 Rev N

NOTE: If using metal saw or cutting disk, drill 1/2 in. diameter holes in corners of inlet/outlet holes. Cut inside marked lines to prevent grain from leaking around holes. If using a plasma cutter, simply use cutout template as fence for cutting holes. 6. File edges of holes to remove sharp edges that may wear chain paddles or prevent clean mounting. 7. Square up (8) 9/32 in. holes using a square file. This is necessary so carriage bolts can be used to secure EMU to elevator. NOTE: Step 8 is specific to 9x50 series only. For 9x60 & 9x70 series installations, skip to step 9. 8. Remove (2) plates covering factory holes on elevator. Keep cover plates in case EMU is ever removed. At this point, elevator should look like Figure 25. Figure 25. Cover plates removed (9x50 STS shown) 9. Disassemble EMU by removing electrical cover and elevator adapter plate from main housing. Using provided 1/4 in. carriage bolts and flange nuts, attach adapter plate to elevator as shown in Figure 26. Use only top (2) holes of inlet and all (4) holes of outlet. Operational Checkout An operational checkout cannot be performed until a harvest configuration has been created and activated. A Quick Reference Sheet (see instruction kit) details this process. NOTE: If system is installed on a 9x70 series model that was equipped with factory-installed yield/moisture sensors, the OEM moisture sensor may need to be disabled to prevent combine display from alarming. Disabling moisture sensor will automatically disable flow sensor. Proceed to step 1 for this procedure. If 9x70 was ordered without yield/moisture components, or if installing on a 9x50 or 9x60 series model, skip to step 2. CAUTION: Do not attempt to perform the tasks outlined in step 1 if you are not comfortable doing so. Contact your local John Deere dealer for assistance if necessary. 1. If 9x70 was equipped with OEM yield/moisture components, disable moisture sensor as follows: a. Press Menu button on armrest display unit. b. Rotate selection dial to highlight message center icon. Press confirm button (check mark). c. Rotate selection dial to highlight diagnostic address icon. Press confirm button. d. Rotate selection dial to highlight control menu. Press confirm button. e. Rotate selection dial to highlight CAB controller. Press confirm button. f. Rotate selection dial to highlight CAB address 114. Press confirm button. g. Set the 7 th digit in the CAB address 114 to 0 so that it reads: xxxxxx0x. This will disable the factory-installed moisture sensor and flow sensor. NOTE: The lowercase x s (denoting CAB address digits.) should be left on their original setting. Notice in Figure 42 that the only digit that should be changed to 0 is the digit controlling the moisture sensor. Figure 42. Cab address 114 PN: 2005802 January 2014 Rev N 41

Ag Leader Technology 2. Press and release power button of Ag Leader display. 3. Create and activate a harvest configuration. a. Refer to Quick Reference Sheet and/or Operator s Manual. 4. Verify CAN modules are powered and communicating. a. Each module has an LED indicator. It should flash green. b. Flow sensor LED is located on load cell. Most flow sensors have a hole in housing that enables viewing LED without removing sensor. c. The following modules should be listed as CAN devices within the display: 239 SPEED MODULE 240 FLOW SENSOR 244 MOISTURE MODULE 5. Verify the following analog input signals (a, b & c can be verified at the run screen, but (d) must be verified through the DIAGNOSTIC screen): a. ELEVATOR SPEED (RPM) signal. 1. Elevator speed should register zero with separator off. 2. Engage separator and header. Display should register RPM value. At full throttle, elevator speed is approximately 425 RPM +/- 50. NOTE: If system is installed on a 9x70 series model, verify that sprocket teeth setting is correct under combine settings. Clean grain elevator may be equipped with 8-tooth, or 10-tooth conveyor chain sprockets depending upon machine configuration. It is important that this setting is correct before logging yield data. NOTE: If system is installed on a 9x70 series model and elevator speed will not register, check PN of Speed Sensor module. If PN is 4000159, remove socket from position 4 (black wire) of 6-position connector of elevator speed cable that plugs into module. This can be done by prying orange wedgelock loose from end of connector with a small screwdriver. Then pull plastic tang away from socket while pulling on wire. Tape unused socket to protect it from dirt and moisture. Reassemble connector and repeat step 5.a.2. NOTE: If system is installed on a 9x50 series model and a factory-installed elevator mount unit has been removed, an open circuit must be completed in order to get an elevator speed signal. Wires 622 and 623 located in plug on right side of combine where elevator mount unit was plugged in must be jumped together. A jumper plug kit is available through JD (PN: AH211729). b. GROUND SPEED (MPH) signal. 1. Ground speed should register zero with combine at rest. 2. Move combine slowly. Display should register MPH value at low speeds (below 1 MPH). NOTE: Ground speed reading on display may not agree with combine readout until display has been calibrated. 42 January 2014 Rev N

c. HEADER HEIGHT (%) signal 1. Raise and lower header. Header height % should increase and decrease respectively. d. TEMPERATURE (C) signal. 1. Temperature in Celsius should be displayed as a value other than zero. Accuracy is not important, as it will be calibrated later.
