Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. 1. Unplug and remove fuse before opening housing or changing bulbs. 2. Install indoors only. 3. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during service and installation. 4. Verify that installation surface has no hidden utility lines before drilling or driving screws. 5. Maintain light with care. Inspect cord periodically and, if damaged, have it repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. 6. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. 8. Check for damaged parts. Before using, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. Do not use if any switch does not turn On and Off properly. 9. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories intended for use with this light. 10. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. 11. WARNING: Handling the cord on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling. (California Health & Safety Code 25249.5, et seq.) 12. The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator. Save these instructions. Grounding To prevent electric shock and death from incorrect grounding wire connection: Check with a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the power cord plug provided with the Light. Never remove the grounding prong from the plug. Do not use the Light if the power cord or plug is damaged. If damaged, have it repaired by a service facility before use. If the plug will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. Operating Instructions Read the entire Important Safety Information section at the beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. To prevent serious injury from accidental operation: Turn the Switches off and unplug the Light from its electrical outlet before installing the light. Note: For additional information regarding the parts listed in the following pages, refer to Parts List and Assembly Diagram on pages 8 and 9. Functions Mounting and Operating Note: Mounting hardware sold separately. 1. Turn OFF both Left and Right Lamp Switches. Function Meter (27) Left Lamp Switch (39) Right Lamp Switch (23) 2. Select a mounting location high enough to provide good lighting, to be out of reach of children, and within six feet of an electrical outlet. 3. Mark locations for the screw holes 8-3/4" apart. Make sure the locations are level, and that there are no hidden utility lines beneath the marked locations. 4. Drill pilot holes in the two locations, appropriate for the two 5/16" pan head screws to be used. If installing into drywall, use appropriate drywall anchors. 5. Install the screws until the heads are about 3/16" from the wall. Test Button (21) Fuse Holder (22) Function Meter (power indicator) Connected - The red light indicates that the unit is connected to a power outlet. Power on - The green light is lit when the unit is plugged into a 120V outlet and one or more of the Lamp Switches are turned on. Right and Left Lamp Switches ON/OFF Power switches for the individual Lamps. Test Button 6. Place the two key slots on the back of the Light over the screw heads and slide downward to secure. 7. Plug in the Light and turn ON the Left and/ or Right Lamp Switches. The red light will turn on to show that the unit is charging. 8. Press the Test Button and verify that the Lamp(s) turn on. 9. When the outlet power fails, the enabled Lamp(s) will turn on. The Lamp(s) will automatically turn off again when power returns. 10. To prevent accidents, turn off the Switches and disconnect the power supply when storing. Clean, then store the Light indoors out of children s reach. When the Battery is charged and one or more of the Lamp Switches are on, press the Test Button to momentarily turn on the powered Lamp(s) to make sure the unit is working properly. Maintenance and Servicing 5. To inspect/replace the fuse: Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician. To prevent serious injury from accidental operation: Turn the Switches off and unplug the Light from its electrical outlet before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning procedures. To prevent serious injury from Light failure: Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. 1. BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general condition of the Light. Check for loose hardware, misalignment or binding of arts, cracked or broken parts, damaged electrical wiring, and any other condition that may affect its safe operation. 2. Wipe with a clean dry cloth and test the Lamps once a month. 3. If the Lamps do not light up when the Test Button is pressed: a. Verify that the outlet is powered. b. Replace the fuse - see following. c. If they still do not light, check if the bulb(s) are burned out, or if the battery needs replacement. 4. WARNING! If the supply cord of this Light is damaged, it must be replaced only by a qualified service technician. a. Gently press a screwdriver (sold separately) into the cross-shaped indentation on the fuse holder and turn 1/4 turn counterclockwise then release. The fuse holder will pop out of its slot with the fuse. b. Remove the fuse holder. c. Remove the fuse from the fuse holder. d. Examine the fuse. If the wire inside is broken, replace it with a new F3AL250V rated fuse of the same type. e. Insert the holder with the fuse inside back into place. Press down with the screwdriver then turn 1/4 turn clockwise then release to lock into place. f. Test the Lamps. 6. CONTAINS SEALED LEAD BATTERY. BATTERY MUST BE RECYCLED. To remove/replace the battery: WARNING! TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY, ELECTRIC SHOCK, AND DEATH: Follow these instructions exactly and in order. If you are not confident that you can follow the instructions safely and properly, have a technician replace the battery. a. UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Remove the unit from the wall. b. Remove the fuse holder as described above. c. After removing the fuse and unplugging the cord, remove the back panel of the unit. d. Negative Terminal Battery Holder Screw 7. To replace a bulb: a. Turn OFF the Left and Right Lamp Switches. b. Remove the two screws holding the lens on. Remove the lens. Battery Holder Bulb Tab Battery Holder Tabs e. Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals, one at a time. f. Bend the four tabs on the battery holder so that they are vertical. g. Remove the screw at the top of the battery holder. Battery Battery Holder h. Rotate the top of the battery holder out and remove the battery. i. If the battery is being replaced, replace only with a battery of the same type, size, and capacity (6 V, 4 Ah, sealed lead-acid). Be sure to connect battery in proper polarity (red wire to positive +, and black wire to negative ). j. Reassemble in reverse order, being sure not to plug the unit in or replace the fuse until all internal parts are reassembled properly and the housing is closed. Notch Bulb Holder c. Wearing a heavy-duty work glove, push the bulb in slightly and twist it until the notch in the base lines up with the tab in the holder. Remove the bulb. d. Line up the notch on the new bulb with the tab in the holder, push the bulb into the holder slightly, and turn the bulb 180º to secure it. e. Put the lens back in place and secure it with the screws. Do not overtighten the screws. 8. If the unit is stored, recharge the battery for at least 5 hours every 2 months to prevent permanent damage.
