i-awd switchable three-mode 4WD Suzuki s i-awd system (intelligent All-Wheel-Drive) is a switchable three-mode 4x4 system that allows you to crossover from economical city driving to serious off-road adventuring with the push of a button. 2WD Only the front wheels provide the drive making it the most economical setting for city driving and ideal for driving on dry surfaces. 4WD AUTO The standard mode for driving. Almost all the torque is distributed to the front wheels, but the rear is automatically increased or decreased to match traction requirements such as slippery surfaces. Overseas model shown. 4WD LOCK Lock mode provides ample torque to rear wheels for effective escapes in low traction conditions such as mud or snow. It automatically switches over to 4WD Auto at speeds over 60km/h. Crossover to a new level of performance. /ESP When it s time to escape the city, it s time to hit the open road. Just flick the switch to AWD and you re away. With sporty handling response, and road-gripping traction, the SX4 now features Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Technology coupled with either a 6 speed manual transmission or CVT automatic transmission. This gives the SX4 s sporty 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine even better performance and fuel efficiency. Smoother transmission All automatic SX4 models now have Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). Unlike traditional automatics, CVT allows stepless changes through virtually an infinite number of effective gears.
Audio system With controls built into the steering wheel, your own sound studio is at your fingertips. The mp3-ready CD tuner system with 8 speakers built directly into the doors creates a high quality listening experience for the driver and passengers. A dashboard centre speaker is also available on the S model. Illuminated dashboard The meter cluster is stylish blue and red which includes a new trip computer that displays information such as instant and average fuel consumption and distance to empty. This advanced safety feature helps the driver regain control of a sliding vehicle. ESP is a computer controlled technology which uses in-built sensors to automatically apply braking to individual wheels and modulates engine power to help restore correct road alignment as soon as any loss of vehicle control is detected. 6 Airbag protection Every SX4 AWD now has 6 airbags for maximum protection. The dual front and curtain airbags protect the head, and the side airbags protect the torso in the unfortunate event of an accident. Feel safe getting away. It s safe to say the SX4 AWD is now even more protective of passengers than ever. You ll feel safely cocooned inside a state-of-the-art rigid body design based on Suzuki s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT), which resists impact forces during an accident and directs them away from the driver and passengers. Then there s the added reassurance of 6 airbags as well as Electronic Stability Control (ESP ) as standard. A highly sophisticated braking system that incorporates ABS with EBD and BA gives you greater control of the vehicle under extreme braking conditions. MacPherson Strut Suspension The SX4 uses independent MacPherson Strut front suspension and rigid torsion beam rear suspension, to help absorb vertical motion and reduce bouncing. This means a safer, smoother ride and better handling response.
