INTRODUCTION In November 2009, The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia organized the first International Workshop and Exhibition on Green Technology on Engineering A Sustainable Economic Development Model for Malaysia. There were 20 papers presented at the workshop and about 220 participants attended the workshop. The event was a great success. The participants made a Green Declaration at the closing ceremony of the workshop and called on Malaysia must as a nation, make the conscious decision to adopt a sustainable economic development model for its transition into the ecological age. Since then, many greening effort has been implemented. The setting up of the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water shows the government s commitment to green technology. In the budget speech for 2010, YAB Dato Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia announced the establishment of Green Technology Financing Scheme amounting to RM1.5 billion as an effort to improve the supply and utilization of Green Technology. The second International Workshop and Exhibition on Sustainable Infrastructures and Buildings was successfully held on the 30 & 31 October 2012 as part of the Institution s effort to explore the challenges and opportunities of green technology for Malaysia. The theme of the Workshop is Towards Zero Carbon Footprint. The Third International Workshop and Exhibition on Green Energy and Environment with Innovative Infrastructure and Building Design will be held on 4 & 5 October 2016. WHO SHOULD ATTEND Officials from all sectors in the Solar Energy, Biomass, Oil & Gas, Nuclear Power, Innovative infrastructure and building design, housing, economic development, communications etc. Relevant private sector, Community representatives, Engineering organizations, City and State officials from energy related organization, planning and housing, Architects, Planners, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Geologist, Scientists and others who are stakeholders and interested in the Green Technology are welcomed to attend the Workshop. EXHIBITION An exhibition will be organized as an integral part of the Workshop. Project experiences, product solutions, new applications and state-of-the-art information on green technology will be highlighted.
