CARenquiry CARenquiry Q: With the monsoon season looming, how do you drive on wet roads safely? A: When road conditions are wet, oil and grime that have settled into the road will rise to the surface, making it more slippery than usual. At times, you may feel that it is difficult for your car to get traction in such conditions. When water accumulates to a certain depth, aquaplaning may occur. Aquaplaning happens when the water in front of your tyres builds up faster that your car s weight, pushing it out of the way. This water pressure may cause your car to rise, and glide on a thin layer of water instead of being in contact with the road. At this point, you are in danger of skidding and drifting off the lane. To avoid aquaplaning, shift down your gear to increase the engine braking effect. If the vehicle threatens to skid or cannot be stopped, shift to neutral gear. For vehicles with automatic transmission, shift to position N and try to bring the vehicle under control by using corrective steering. If possible, avoid driving on flooded roads as waves or splashes created by your car or other vehicles may damage the engine, electronics and transmission. The maximum still water depth that you can drive in is 25 cm, and if you are stuck in water of that height, drive no faster than walking pace. Q: How do I store my favourite radio stations on my E-Class? A: There are 10 presets available for each waveband. To store your radio stations, simply: Storing radio stations manually 1. Switch on the audio system. 2. Press the RADIO button. 3. Use the left and right Arrow keys, the numeric keypad or the controller to select the station you want to save as a preset. 4. Press and hold the keypad number where you want to store the station preset until you hear a tone. The tone indicates that you have successfully stored the preset. Stations that were stored prior to this process will be overwritten. If the process is interrupted by a public announcement, you will have to repeat the steps.
