The sources of this information are: An independent monitor (September 26) for forecast retained values after 3 years operation. For Service, Repair and Tyre we are using an independent survey which is updated monthly and covers all van models produced by every manufacturer. Included in the analysis are regular servicing and replacement of tyres, brake pads and discs, batteries, exhaust and clutches according to mileages 45, miles for the Citan sector, 6, miles for the Vito sector and 9, miles for the Sprinter sector For the fuel we use the published combined fuel consumption figures for each van and a diesel price of 92 pence per litre excluding VAT, an increase of 2 pence on last month. CITAN Sector - Whole Life Costs in Pence per Mile - October 26 (see next page for details) Fuel cost is up by 3 pence this month to 95 pence per litre excluding Vat ( 5.2 per gallon including VAT). Another factor pushing up whole life is small fall in retained values for all brands. The Volkswagen Caddy with 5 and 2hp engines benefits from low depreciation. The Ford Transit Connect in Base trim with 5hp engine is strong on whole life. Low depreciation is the main factor with this Ford model. Citan 9CDI is showing competitive operating. All Citan models have lower servicing and fuel than the Fords and VWs. Higher powered Citans, Fords and VWs tend to fall towards the bottom of the table. VITO Sector - Whole Life Costs in Pence per Mile - October 26 (see next page for details) The combination of a 5% increase in diesel price and weaker retained values has marginally increased whole life this month compared to September. Vito strengths in fuel economy and retained values puts it at the top of this table with the VW Transporter. Against trend Vito have not increased this month. Compared to the VWs, Vito has the advantage on fuel economy and SMR but as yet the Transporter has lower depreciation. Vito 9 and (and 4 Long) have lower than the Transit Customs and the rest of the competition. Models from the new Citroen Dispatch, Peugeot Expert and Fiat Talento ranges are included in the tables.
